I stayed in a bach next door to Anakiwa Backpackers, and wanted to mention the lovely owners - they were really nice, friendly, chatty and helpful. Even though we weren't staying there, they went out of their way to talk to us. While I can't comment on accommodation, I can certainly recommend their hospitality!

This was our favorite B&B in New Zealand. A hidden gem in the middle of magical nature, it's the perfect place to rest your body and soul. The rooms are neat, host is friendly and helpful and you have a chance to meet cool people in the common kitchen. A must-do is renting a kayak and explore the Sounds (regardless the weather) and later in the evening hike the surroundings.

My boyfriend and I stayed here in the old library room just before Christmas. We found it by accident and loved it! Free kayak use was a perfect addition, as were the hammocks. The couple were lovely and the place was so relaxed and very clean. We went on a boat trip with the owner around the sounds too, and the dog came with us! So close to the track too which was perfect as we didn't have a lot of time. Lovely place, would definitely recommend!

What an awesome spot! The Queen Charlotte track is right there, we had access to Kayaks and Mountain bikes and the hammocks were used daily. This place is also right by the jetty for boat access. Very homey atmosphere, very clean and the beds were very comfortable.

Coffee machine was great - could not have asked for more. We stayed two nights in 'The Old Shed" with 3 of us - was 'cosy' but very comfortable and we only slept there anyway and used the other facilities the rest of the time, kitchen well set up and outdoors table a lovely spot.

We then stayed two nights in the apartment - kitchen facilities limited but fine for basic cooking and we borrowed things from the other kitchen which was fine. The bunk beds were noisy with adults in them but I suspect would be less of a problem with children. Great view from the apartment. Shane and Tanya were very helpful and lovely hosts. Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: The apartment is private

My partner and I stayed for one night at the multishare room at the Anakiwa Backpackers after finishing the Queen Charlotte Track. It is conveniently located right at the end of the track and right by the wharf. The accommodation is very clean and well-equipped, from kitchen facilities to board games and books in the lounge. But I believe the best thing about the accommodation is the friendliness of the hosts. Tanya and Shane are very warm and accommodating. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here.
