Very nice and accommodative owner. Nice ambience. Had a great time. Will go again if an opportunity. I recommend this place because it is very cost effective. The owner actually provided us with more than he promised.

Our Aquaculture 2013/2014 class just recently stayed at this motel from June 2nd 2014 - June 5th 2014. We were on a 4 day trip to visit the aquaculture operations surrounding Manitoulin island. Anyways, about the motel:
The rooms were all clean when we arrived. I mean really clean, organized and tidy. We booked 6 different rooms for our 10 people. Four rooms were in the main building, one room was in another small building and my room was on the second floor of another building. Before arrival, we required a cooking facility and we got it no problem. You can ask Nick what he supplies for the cooking facility.
Well this review is mostly about our great Host, Nick. He is the most hardworking man that I have ever met. He is passionate of the well-being and overall happiness of his guests. He goes out of his way to meet our needs. When we asked for a barbecue because we didn't see one on site, he took it out of the storage, cleaned the grill by hand, assembled it and put a new propane tank in less than 20 mins. When there was certain things that I needed for feeding my fellow classmates and professors like a chopping knife, more plates, more cutlery, he provided it for us. When we wanted to have a fire on our last night together as a class, he went out to scavenge for firewood and placed them in neat piles beside the fire pit. When we had the fire going, we all noticed that we had nothing to put it out but Nick came out of his office with a water pail. Then he hung out with us for half an hour and told stories of his past guests and how good they were to him and stories about him moving to Canada. Overall, he is a sweet kind man that is TOTALLY AMUSING!
Years from now, when some of our class will meet each other again and tell stories about our ongoing careers in aquaculture, we will all meet up at the Mindemoya Motel were we all parted ways for our new careers.
Our family stayed at the Mindemoya Hotel for the Thanksgiving weekend. It is the perfect location as it is conveniently located 5 min from a Longo's grocery store and downtown Mindemoya. It is centrally located on the island with equidistant access in all directions to parts of the world's largest fresh water island.
The room itself was a 2 bedroom ensuite with a working kitchen and living room. The owners and staff were always helpful and great directions. They provided exceptional personal care and service to every member of our family
The room itself is very spacious for large family or group of friends. There is a large kitchen (full) with electric stove, microwave and fridge. The sitting area is comfortable and nice to look outside the window into the lush green forest (We used it quite a lot.) The bed was comfortable and clean like the rest of the room. The bathroom was spacious and had ample hot water for long showers.
I highly recommend this motel to anyone looking to stay in the town and close to natural beauty of the entire island. :)
I had to visit Manitoulin Island unexpectedly for business last week, & I was scrambling to find accommodation the night before. Luckily, I found Mindemoya Motel. It is centrally located on the island, less than 1km away from a fuel station & a wonderful family-owned restaurant ("Mom's").
The facility is clean, comfortable, everything is on the ground floor, and the rooms have telephones, microwaves, televisions, fridges, and coffeemakers. My stay was very much improved by the manager Nick, who is extremely kind and dedicated to his guests. In fact, I have stayed in over 25 hotels / motels during the past 3 years all over Ontario & have NEVER experienced generosity and compassion like his. He went above & beyond to ensure that my stay was an enjoyable as possible.
If you ever have the pleasure to visit Manitoulin Island, this should be your #1 choice; the value is unmatched.
We visited Mindemoya with our 5 yrs old kid on short notice for this thanksgiving holiday which obviously meant no easy vacancies and good rates.
Luckily a night before travel we found this hotel and talked to the owner who reserved a room for us. On arriving we were welcomed warmly, greeted like family and treated like VIPs :)
Rooms were very clean and we did not have to worry about hygiene for our kid. Washrooms were better and more spacious than all motels we have stayed in years. Clean and very practical.
Owner even offered us his own kitchen should we need to cook something because we arrived late and all restaurants close early.
Money spent did not hurt. In short, my best motel ever visited in Canada.
The owner is so nice. The location is very good, it is close to town Mindemoya, where there is a big supermarket - foodland and gas station. On this island, it is important that you can get food and gas for your car. This motel is close to the lake mindermoya, easy driving to Province Bay, Gore Bay, the town Kagawong to see the Bridal Veil Falls. The most important is the room is very clean and comfortable!
