The hotel is a large property with 66 rooms, located a short distance from the village centre.
Our newly renovated standard room lacked completely warmth and ambiance. If there would not be the view on wooden houses, we could be at any location at a highway exit. The red couch made of artificial leather did not make the room homelier which as tube-like shaped and dark (see pictures). The bathroom was spacious and clean, but with insufficient ventilation.
End of May the weather was miserable with temperature at night around freezing. The heating was switched oft, leaving the room uncomfortably cold. Wifi connection is free but hopelessly slow. For a 4 star hotel we would expect a complementary mineral water bottle or at least a kettle for coffee making in the room.
The restaurant is nicely decorated with a warm ambiance. The half board menu is offered at a competitive price, but we were not much impressed about the culinary art. The breakfast buffet is generously garnished. In spite of the location in the Bregenzerwald with plenty of farms and cows, only industrial cheese was available. The fruits (Kiwi and Melon) had to aspect to be cut the day before and kept in the fridge, looking not at all fresh. Scrambled eggs were available in a food warmer. We asked for fried eggs and bacon which was served with much delay and some discontent.
The hotel has a large swimming pool, sufficient free parking. The price level is moderate. Better weather conditions would have probably left a more favorable impression.
