Beautiful site, even in the rain, and amazing home-cooked food.

My partner, her toddler and I spent two midweek nights in August in the larger "Showman" caravan to celebrate our anniversary. In a long field that twists its way alongside a babbling brook, the owners have set up a trio of traditional horse-drawn caravans, each in a wooded clearing that isolates it from the others. Two of the caravans are smaller, designed just for couples (who are clearly the target market for this romantic getaway spot), but we took the third, larger, (centenarian!) one, which sported a separate living room and bedroom.

Wriggles Brook combined a beautiful setting, imaginative and ecologically-friendly accomodation, and about a billion activities on your doorstep. Even the almost-complete lack of phone signal into the valley was pretty delightful, although it did make consulting Google Maps difficult when we got lost about 20 minutes out from the place! But if there’s one thing that really does deserve extra-special mention, it’s the food:

Our hosts were able to put on a spectacular breakfast and evening meal for us each night, including a variety of freshly-grown produce from their own land. We generally ate in their mini dining room – itself a greenhouse for their grapevines – but it was equally-nice to have pancakes delivered to the picnic table right outside our caravan. And speaking as somebody who’s had their fair share of second-rate veggie breakfasts, it was a great relief to enjoy a quite-brilliant variety of vegetarian cuisine from a clearly-talented chef.

My partner took me here for my birthday, only for one night sadly but we could have happily stayed for a week! I felt like a Disney princess living amongst all the beautiful animals, we were greeted by a cottontail bunny when we parked up, and he was also next to the car when we left! There were cats and dogs, and birdies galore, all very friendly and Jane and John Paul themselves were excellent hosts. Our evening meal was perfection, I asked for seabass and got 2 whole fillets! Building a campfire to snuggle up by and toast the marshmallows was so much fun. The village is a short walk away and had the most beautiful church to explore. Bed was super comfy and spacious and we were over the moon to find teabags and milk especially for us since we forgot ours. The only downside was my shower in the morning was cold, maybe they only have so much hot water, and the wifi didn't work. Not that you need it so much but would have been great to be able to stream music.

We stayed at Wriggles Brook for one night but it was so peaceful and relaxing, we could have stayed longer. We had three dogs with us who were warmly greeted and made to feel welcome. The Showman caravan is at the end so nice and secluded. A stream running alongside and trees full of wildlife. Perfect to escape the stress of everyday life. A lovely breakfast and the dogs were treated to a bowl of sausage and bacon. They would definitely like to go back!
If you want to totally escape from modern life, Wriggles Brook would be perfect for you!

Do you remember the flake advert with the the gypsy girl wandering off along the field in the classic Romany gypsy caravan? Well this is as close as you can get to that :-)
We had a fantastic time, with a wonderful host who went to huge efforts, saying that it was a pleasure. This was our first wedding anniversary celebration, a gift from my loving parents, who had called up and asked that our meal on arrival was a reflection of our wedding meal. This was done lovingly and creatively, and that is the theme of the whole experience. Incredibly relaxing. We thoroughly recommend it, many thanks to J & JP. Love and best wishes from L & G xx

Room tip: This was not a holiday for being on a computer, I dont know if there was wi fi. This was certainly a natural idyllic getaway, that we loved.

We had a totally wonderful time. The boys loved staying in the gypsy caravan and the camp fires proved such a hit. It's so relaxing and is such a magical place. It's all the best bits of camping all rolled into one place.
The kids loved watching the rabbits visiting. We spent ages watching buzzards flying overhead and listening to an owl in the evening. We watched bats catching insects one night too - it's a little wildlife haven too.
The friendly dog visited in the morning and was rewarded with a left over sausage, which my kids thought was fantastic and we had a cat visit to sit with us by the camp fire. A must visit for animal lovers!
Jane and John Paul are so wonderful and couldn't do enough to make the stay perfect.
We can't wait to visit again.
The kitchen and shower areas are really well maintained and very clean too.
Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo is only a stone throw away and makes a great nearby trip for the children. Plenty of other places a short drive away. So although you feel like you are in the wilds whilst at the caravan, you are in a great position to get out and about to some lovely attractions.

Room tip: Showmans can sleep 4 (2 x adults and 2 x children) - plenty of space and so cosy

We have Just come back from a very special 50th birthday celebration weekend at Wrigglesbrook Gypsy Caravans, 3 couples, each had a caravan and let's not forget Nelly the dog! All three caravans are totally authentic, beautiful and so comfortable. Jane and John Paul are the perfect hosts, so warm and friendly. Each caravan has its own Eco toilet, in a small shed set aside from the caravan and there are two lovely showers in a very pretty wooden cabin with Eco toiletries and fluffy towels. You have a fridge to store all essentials in and there is even a lovely conservatory with tables and fairly lights if it rains and you need to eat undercover. We cooked a BBQ on the first night and sat round our fire, each caravan has its own, so lovely. Fun on the swings and hammocks, and lots of drinks lol. On the Saturday & Sunday morning we were totally spoiled by the wonderful homemade breakfasts brought out to us on beautiful trays. Start with homemade pancakes, fruit and maple syrup, then a full English all locally sourced or grown on their land yum yum! The vegetarian option is out of this world too. Then we set out on a 6.5 mile walk which finished at the local pub. Excellent weather too. Then back to Wrigglesbrook where we had preordered a full homemade 3 course dinner, which was of the standard of a 5 star restaurant. All brought out to us outside to eat under the stars. Candles are lit everywhere which makes the place so magical. We were all so full x then followed by more drinks and fun. Lots of singing too. We went 4 years ago on our own and new we would one day be back, and we cannot recommend this place enough. We all loved it so much we shall be back next year for a longer stay. Thank you so much Jane and John Paul you're the best xxxxx

Room tip: All three caravans are fantastic, but the Showman is the biggest!
