“Wonderful little hideaway”

A fantastic little place in the countryside. Chris and Graham were welcoming and incredibly helpful hosts. Great thought and detail have been put into creating Barton Bank Cottage and you can really tell, from the breakfast collection they provided us to the file containing information on all walks nearby and all the nearby pubs and with their menus. The cottage was so cosy and peaceful, a great break from the hustle and bustle of Chester. I love the wood burner and the roll top bath, I brought a few bath bombs just for the occasion! We'll definitely be coming back here.

“Perfect in every way”
Reviewed 21 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Generous, welcoming hosts. Wonderful and abundant breakfast goodies. Gorgeous views, outside lounging/reading/eating/drinking space. Toasty woodburning stove. Outrageously comfortable and deep bath. Even the weather came up trumps: 21 degrees! If you're looking for bliss on all fronts, look no further. Thank you, Chris and Graham, utterly delightful.

“Everything we wanted and more, the perfect country break.”

From the moment we arrived in Barton village I knew we'd made the right choice. We received a very warm welcome from Graham who showed us around and advised us on local places to visit. The cottage itself was perfect, small but perfectly formed with everything we needed to feel at home. After a day of Christmas shopping in Chester, which is only a 15/20 min drive away, it was the perfect place to come back to and relax. We cooked a nice meal and soaked in the amazing roll top bath. If you do stay here you must dine at the local pub, Cock O Barton which is outstanding. Both the food and service was 5 stars for us. This was exactly what we were looking for, a romantics break in the quiet countryside but close to a city. We give Barton Bank cottage 5 stars and hope to return soon. Many thanks Graham and Chris

“Cosy Little Hideaway”

We stayed here for 5 days and had a really relaxing stay. The cottage itself is compact but has everything you need for a short stay. It has been well thought out, lovely log burner was on for us arriving. Plenty of logs available too if you want to put it on each night. The welcome pack was excellent and had all the basics to keep us going for a few days. The complimentary bottle of wine was a great touch.

Chris & Graham are lovely hosts, friendly, welcoming and pointed us in the right direction for places to visit. The cottage is in the small hamlet of Barton and has a fantastic local pub/restaurant called the Cock O' Barton. We ate there most nights as the food was nice, the staff also friendly and welcoming and even better we could have a couple of drinks and no one had to drive. It's literally 5 mins walk from the cottage.

Its a great base to travel from we visited Chester, Shrewsbury, Nantwich, Wrexham (give that one a miss) and then to Liverpool which was only 29 miles away, and we did the Beatles Experience. We stoped in a couple of small villages and had a wander around, and found nice little places for a coffee.

All in all a nice place to be and would certainly visit again and recommend.

“Fantastic little hideaway”

We stayed here for 2 nights following our wedding at the Cock O' Barton, it was absolutely perfect.
My husband was allowed to check in early to drop off his bag and get the keys.
We chose to make the short walk over the road, walking down the lanes was so romantic! Walking up the driveway I didn't really know where I was to be staying, but I knew it was perfect a soon as I opened the door. The night had turned chilly after a relatively clear day but inside the cottage was warm and welcoming. All the furnishings were comfortable and the bath amazing. The breakfast left for us was great and plentiful.
In the daylight we could appreciate this little hideaway even more, the setting was idyllic, with horses at your doorstep and a lovely covered decking area for barbecues and late night wine supping.
Graham and Chris were perfect hosts, very friendly and knowledgeable with a big adorable dog Lenny!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return for our anniversary! It really is the perfect base for exploring Cheshire and North Wales.

We stayed at Barton Bank for 3nights. On arrival, we were welcomed by Chris and showed us around this delightful property. The welcome breakfast pack included a variation of cereals, croissants, bread, milk cheese, jams, marmalade and a variance of supplies in the cupboard which more than lasted our stay. Both Chris and Graham are really nice and very helpful. If you want a lovely break and would like to visit Chirk Castle, Erdigg House, Llangollen, Wrexham, Chester they are all within a 30 minute drive. The area is very beautiful, and we would recommend this property wholeheartedly. It's a gem!!!

“Cosy and Peaceful cottage to get away from it all.”

Lovely little cottage remote enough to get away from it all. But close enough to feel part of civilisation!
Stayed 4 nights and ate out each night. Can highly recommend Grosvenor arms at nearby Alford. Wife particularly liked the roll top bath!
