Not really a review - but a report about a similar 'runner' at the Cibo in Culcheth just 4miles away. Here they took all the cash deposits for Christmas lunch and on the big day ...... Behold - an empty closed restaurant. A deposit via a credit card is the only way that you should ever be asked to guarantee a booking of any sort in the catering or hotel business (I never object to this because there are plenty of unreliable folk around) so be warned folks!!

My husband and I bought a Groupon voucher for lunch at Cibo Lymm (Pizza or Pasta with garlic bread plus wine for two - paying £14). We booked a table for the 2nd January 2014 at 13:30 (booked on 8th December 2013). On booking we were asked to supply a name and telephone number, so I'm extremely disappointed that someone couldn't be bothered to let us know that they were not open. Please also see the other Tripadvisor reviews documenting similar problems.

The outside was very messy, with the seating piled on top of each other or blown over, and the adverting board was also on it's side, which suggests to me that no one had been around for sometime.

We contacted Groupon, and have received a refund/credit, and they are investigating the situation as it seems that we are not the first to report a problem.

Booked for Christmas Day a few weeks ago, received a phone call the week before asking for a deposit, when I offered to pay by card they said the machine was broken and could we go down with cash, which we did. Turned up on Xmas Day to find the place closed. draw your own conclusions about the kind of people that would do this.

27/12/2013 Booked a table for this evening. Just returned home from an excellent meal at the Green Dragon (only 10 minutes walk up the road) because when we turned up at Cibo it was closed! Eventually found a note in a window saying restaurant was closed due to electronic problem in the kitchen. We had left a contact number on booking so have no idea why we had not been contacted to inform us of the closure, can only assume the management have no concept of customer service! First choice next time will be the Green Dragon, certainly not Cibo.

Although it was fairly quiet (not surprising for a Monday) the atmosphere was still nice. All the staff couldn't do more to accommodate to our needs even if that was off the menu. Food came out quick and was delicious! Would recommend the burger and penne with prawns. All the staff were very hospitable and great value for money. Would recommend to anyone.
