Shame. For a couple of years this pub did quite good food. Not now though. Reverted back to what is was a few years ago - a pub with no atmosphere and no food.

called in 21st Feb. New landlord just taken over - kitchen close until Easter - but looked a good characterful place and landlord kindly recommended alternative places to eat for now. Was most helpful, so will return to try food after Easter, so watch this space

We stopped by the Rising Sun Inn whilst on route to Penzance for Christmas. The pub dates from the early modern period, and it was lovely to see that so many of the traditional features have been preserved.

The selection of beer was fairly broad, and included ales such as Tribute, Otter, Legend and Jail Ale (all priced between £2.80-£3.30). The landlord, it should be said, was very good and allowed us to try several ales for free.

We did not have food here, although there were plenty of people in for food and lots of empty plates going past us into the kitchen.

It is sad to read some of the more recent reviews which suggest that landlord, or soon-to-be ex-landlord, is leaving, and that the pub may close midweek. This will be a shame, given the history of the place and its unique selling points (spectacular views across the Tamar Valley).

Just 100% A 1 but I hear that the owner of the pub is kicking out the tenant that has dragged up this pup to A1 status in Jan 2014, I suspect it will now go down hill back to the way it was awfull!!!!!!!

Occassionly we go to the rising sun for a meal and were quite devasted to hear that Vinny and dave were leaving at the end of january. The food has always been first class and the atmosphere extremely friendly it is so sad, good luck to you both in your next venture where ever it may be.
