“Warm and friendly welcome to this beautifully converted barn”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

I cannot praise Mary and Andrew enough for their warm welcome. A nice bottle of chilled wine and cream tea were waiting for us after our long drive.
The communication from Mary before we left was second to none and all we had to do was arrive, ready to holiday!!
We took our two little westies who settled in well and it was a bonus to be able to leave the door open knowing there was a secure garden for them to explore.
The barn is lovely and very well equiped with everything we needed and is very clean.

“Very warm and welcoming retreat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

My partner and I holidayed here with our little dog and our 4 month old daughter back in May. The cottage was beautiful and very clean with excellent amenities but above all the owners were accommodating and extremely welcoming.

I would highly recommend the Tamar Orchard barn to family and friends it was a great base for exploring Devon and Cornwall and the pictures really don't do it justice.

“Excellent stay in romantic setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

Had a wonderful stay at the barn over a couple of days in September. After a long drive we were very warmly greeted by the owners, they showed us around and recommended a a pub where we went for dinner the first night - excellent food and atmosphere!
The barn is beautiful, fresh and clean! We also managed to get a bit of sun and the small patio was perfect for a lazy breakfast and morning in the warm sunshine. The place is really quiet and private which was exactly what we were looking for!

If you are looking for beautiful surroundings, peace, quiet, very friendly hosts and a romantic place for yourself and that special someone then this is definitely the place to go to!

Thank you very much for the most perfect review. We really could not wish for more and are so delighted you liked the Tamar Orchard Barn and managed to have a relaxing break away from it all. We just hope you manage to be here a little longer next time, without interruption, so that you can really relax and have some time to explore more of the stunning Tamar Valley.

“A week of relaxed bliss!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2013 for a stay in June 2013

The Tamar Barn in the grounds of Sandhill House was pure luxury. Mary made me feel so welcome and even though I had my own brand new kitchen facilities, I took up her offer of her scrumptious breakfasts made from fresh, local produce. I thoroughly enjoyed the picturesque train journey down to Plymouth, with Gunnislake Station only a short walk away. Each evening I enjoyed a wine in the private garden as I wrote postcards to family and friends in Australia extolling the virtues of this glorious location.

Thank you so much for your kind review for The Tamar Orchard Barn following your holiday stay. It is brand new on the market after converting the Manor's old, derelict apple store barn, and it was a nervous time wondering if guests would like it. I am so pleased you really enjoyed the Barn and found time to relax and just enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Many thanks for taking the 'leap of faith' to book and I hope that you are now enjoying another Summer in Australia and that you will one day return to see us in Gunnislake again. Best wishes

“Quality VFM in a beautiful peaceful location with caring owners”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We stayed here at the end of July - myself, my wife and our two lurchers. Great location, really friendly and helpful owners live in the main manor house (Andrew & Mary - thanks so much). Well equipped barn conversion with quality furnishings and fittings. Our dogs enjoyed the stay too (in their own secure garden) - loads of walks nearby and beautiful views. Easy to get to village / station yet secluded too.

Thank you so much for finding the time to send us the most wonderful feedback. It all got off to a good start, during the booking process; hearing all about Alfie and Sile's exploits, in the most eloquent way, I haven't laughed so much for ages. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay in the beautiful Tamar Valley and thank you for being the perfect guests. We hope to see you again when you are next planning a 'great escape'. Very best wishes

“Luxurious Barn set in beautiful gardens”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Stayed for two nights in this lovely barn conversion. It is set in the grounds of a Georgian Manor House which has stunning gardens and views down the Tamar Valley but the barn itself is tucked away within it's own cottage garden and you really feel you have this secluded corner all to yourself. The barn is cosy but also has really high quality fittings and furnishings and most importantly a comfy bed! The little kitchen area is really useful and it was a real pleasure to sit overlooking the gardens on our own little patio amongst the trailing roses and sweet peas sipping a glass of chilled wine (cooled in the fridge which is almost within stretching distance!)
The owners are very friendly with lots of tips about places to visit and I can't think of a lovelier place to stay in this area especially if you love visiting gardens and walking.
