“Not just rugby excellence from Blackrock”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2013

This superb country house & restaurant is owned & run by an alumnus of Blackrock College, Dublin, consistently, over many years, the most renowned rugby nursery in the British Isles.
Enough about that, however, as the restaurant produces the most outstanding food for miles around, supported by its own orchards & herb gardens & well thought-out wine choices combining to deliver uniformly tasty & imaginative dishes.
The depth of the typically Irish welcome is tangible, the decor of the dining room is discreet & charming & despite the elegance, the staff are warm, friendly & efficient with no hint of aloof formality.
The establishment is delightfully situated above the viilage of Glengarry, close to the picturesque tourist town of Adare & less than an hour from the city of Limerick & Shannon Airport. Moreover it is on the doorstep of the delights of West Cork & Kerry - Ballymaloe, Skibereen,Tralee, Kenmare, Killarney, the Ring of Kerry, Dingle etc.
Suits me!

“Echo of the Past”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 October 2013

My overall impression of the Mustard Seed was that it was a bit more expensive than the usual top restaurant but well worth a visit on special occasions with a group of friends. The whole atmosphere is old world and very charming. The proprietors and staff are equally charming, welcoming and most efficient. For my starter I had seared scallops and John Dory for the main course. The accompanying vegetables were cooked to perfection and so tasty. The wine which was their wine of the month was a very pleasant white Cote du Rhone. When I commented to the waiter on how nice the wine was as he poured more, he said "Next month's is even nicer. Be sure to come and try it." The appearance and presentation of each course was fantastic. The people at the Mustard Seed obviously believe that we eat with our eyes as well as our mouths. I must say that it was a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable evening.

“Cannot say enough”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2013

This was our first trip to Ireland, long awaited trip. Mustard Seed was our first destination. Within 8 hrs of being in the country, we were in a terrible car accident, faulty brakes on the car. My husband and I were taken to the hospital in Limerick. We arrived back at The Mustard Seed and John answered the door. They took us under their wings. Had an outstanding meal for us, privately in the library where we could process what had just happened to us. Dan told us not to worry, they would "nourish" us and we would be their complimentary guests for as long as needed. We walked the beautiful stunning grounds, the kitchen garden, the orchard and found some peace as we processed what had just happened to us. All the while, Dan and Roly were there with tea, their own apple juice made from their orchard, whatever we needed. The house is just absolutely beautiful, dining area lovely and calming. Upon leaving to our next destination, Dan Mullane arranged a driver for us and called ahead to Ashford Castle where we were headed and gave them a head's up. They were waiting for us and of course, said that Dan had called and told them of our accident. We were able to make the best of this trip because of Dan, his staff and this beautiful place to stay, the Mustard Seed!

“Book your stay today!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 September 2013 via mobile

Singularly the best weekend away I have ever enjoyed.

On the drive home I tried to think of anything that could have been better .... Honestly there wasn't a single thing!!

From the moment we arrived to when we left we had smiles on out faces. The food, the staff, the friendliness, the house, the gardens ... Did I mention the food? Stunning, Stunning, Stunning!

The Mustard Seed is a rare gem, Dan and his team are simply superb!

Thank You! We enjoyed every minute and can't wait to go back.

“Incredible Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 September 2013

This was the 1st time we had a dining experience like this and wish the USA had establishments like this. We arrived to the hotel/restaurant and were warmly greeted. The gentlemen offered us a seat on the sofa next to the fire to enjoy a cocktail before being seated for dinner. Then he presented the dinner menus for our perusal and came back in a few minutes to place our order. After a little time, we were seating in the actual dining room for dinner. Such a pleasant way to go to dinner and extremely enjoyable, not rushed but very comfortable.
