A cold Friday night in January may not be the best time for a remote restaurant like this but it served us 5and a handful of other custoemers) well on our visit lat week. Its only open Friday and Saturday evenings during the winter and it must be a struggle if business is always as slow as during our visit. But the menu is in no way limited with a good standard menu and several specials (all fish). The local oysters were great, as were the baked salmon and the grilled mussels, calamar and prawns. Local bread and friendly service. The restuarant is quite large and I can imagine very busy during the season at the weekends so booking advised. Parking out front may also be a challenge when busy.

We went for lunch on a miserable cold grey day and it really cheered us up!!
The restaurant was warm & welcoming and the staff were friendly & attentive.
The potted shrimps were very tasty and the fish pie was excellent.
Fish lovers if you come to Suffolk a visit here is a must !!

I dread ordering fish in restaurants, fully expecting to get something which isn't fresh. Had been here once before and eaten wonderfully fresh fish, but being a pessimist, fully expected the food wouldn't be as good. WRONG - it was heavenly - pudding too. It's totally believable when they say they have their own fishing boat. So thrilled at how delicious the food was, we had a wonderful evening all round, and we didn't mind in the slightest that the room might not have been the most romantic in the world. Orford itself IS utterly romantic, and to have such a great fish restaurant too makes a special trip well worth it.

On a cold and frosty day what more could one wish for but a piping hot bowl of creamy leek and potato soup with a crispy baton followed by a plate of snappy whitebait and generous hunks of granary bread. Just as good as ever!

If you love fish, this is the best place to eat in the world!!, well, in Suffolk at least. The food is wonderful, stall friendly and efficient. One small thing, it can be noisy with uncarpeted floors, can make conversation difficult. The Americans loved everything!
