“Food at it's best”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

Anyone visiting Orford in Suffolk and loves tasty bread and fantastic cakes must visit Pump Street Bakery. This has to be the best tasting bread anywhere around. A father and daughter run business with lovely friendly staff, fantastic food, lovely location, what more could you ask for.
Just eating the bread with nothing on it reveals the fantastic flavour's of real bread.

Just reading the website makes you hungry.

“Best Sour Dough in Town”
Reviewed 5 October 2013

Which isn't hard as it's the main bakery in Orford but the breads, tarts, pastries and everything are amazing, what this place has is a passion for what they do. Visit their website - easy to find.

“Simply the best!”
Reviewed 29 September 2013 via mobile

The best ingredients, the best cooking and the best service : go there as soon as you can and enjoy fabulous soup, sandwiches and pastries! We went many times in our fortnight in Suffolk and the quality was of the highest order every time. The man with the broken foot and his beloved.

“Let's break Bread”

Although not open all the time this bakery is worth the trouble to visit. It is a sort of local mecca. Great bread and pretty good butter tarts.

“Bread-lover's paradise!”
Reviewed 11 September 2013

Had been trying to find proper sourdough bread (i.e. made with sourdough starter and no added yeast) in East Anglia for ages when I came across Pump Street Bakery.
Their breads are simply fantastic....as are their little Portuguese custard tarts.....
Excellent coffee in the cafe and very pleasant service.
Now do a 40 mile round trip to stock my freezer....yes, I know, food-miles. Sorry, but there's just nothing to compare anywhere else in Suffolk.
Not cheap, but you get what you pay for and am happy to pay for delicious real bread that is made with care and isn't packed full of baker's yeast, enzymes, flour improvers etc., as many so-called artisan breads are.
