We so enjoyed our stay, which was a dinner, bed and breakfast. So peaceful, and quiet. The room was excellent, very clean and amazing attention to detail. The dinner was delicious with so many choices. The staff were super attentive, and we felt very well looked after. The restaurant is cosy and informal and we just felt relaxed and very much at ease. The breakfast was one of the best hotel meals that I have had, such a welcome change from having to queue up at a buffet!
As far as we were concerned this hotel is faultless! Hopefully we shall return.

Room Tip: the 'garden' rooms are lovely, all with a view of the orford castle

Truly lovely stay and wonderful meal for us with our pooch. All three of us made very welcome and comfortable. Food extremely good. Next night at Le Talbooth also good but we kept talking about the wonderfully relaxed but high quality Crown & Castle. Nice to see Ruth working the floor on a Friday evening. Beautiful doggie walks straight out of the door. Loo brush policy a bit eccentric but house humour evident!

Room Tip: All dog rooms good with shared garden

Thank you very much indeed for your very nice review. We are delighted that you all enjoyed your stay, including the food, and seeing the (co-) boss working! Thank you, too, for flagging up that the there are really good dog walks very nearby. (At first we read it as meaning your doggie had walked out of the door without permission! It's also quite weird to read that we have a loo brush policy but, effectively, you are right – they are objects to be kept well hidden!)
We do hope you all return some time in the future, and thank you again.

We decided to have a birthday treat at this lovely hotel. We were both delighted with the room and especially the fantastic food. It was a most relaxing experience and would stay there again. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly.

Met up with family here for a luncheon. Very impressive.
Lovely area outside for lunch, great choice of menu.
No parking for non residents though, so be aware.
Well worth the effort in finding and experiencing as you won't be disappointed. Good food with good prices as well.

We are delighted that you and your family enjoyed our Smart Pub Lunch (available Mon-Sat inc.) As you know we serve this outside on the terrace when it's warm and sunny enough, which is not always the case on the East Coast! (It's normally the sea breezes that prevent al fresco lunching, rather than rain.) Thank you for mentioning the good value, as well as the good food and, indeed, the lack of parking for restaurant guests. I am afraid we do have to reserve the spaces for guests arriving to stay, with all their attendant luggage, during high summer. At quieter times, when the hotel is not full, we are delighted if restaurant guests park there, too. Thank you again for your review - it is much appreciated.

Looking for a short break from work and from parenthood, we booked into the Crown and Castle for one night. First impressions were fantastic; we had a garden room with own patio for relaxing in the sunshine before dinner. The hotel is a short walk from both the castle and the quayside. We decided to forego an Adnams at either of the local pubs in favour of saving ourselves for the dinner.

Eating at the Crown and Castle was a real treat. Seafood is a speciality and our starters of fritto misto and sardines were both excellent. Our mains were locally caught skate and Dingley Dell pork fillet, which were also well balanced and beautifully cooked. Both were modest sized portions which left room for their lovely dessert menu too. Finally a note on the wine list, which was fantastic with very useful tasting notes.

Our only issue with the room was that there was no air conditioning and the room was very warm at night, but the bed was massive and comfortable so this didn't disturb us too much.

Overall this was a great break and one we would heartily recommend.

We are so pleased you had a 'perfect break'. Thank you for the great description of the C&C and its location. Thank you, too, for more good descriptions of the food – often guests will say it is great but don't specify exactly what they had. It's always useful, I think, for putative guests to know what's on offer. I am sorry you missed having aircon in your bedroom but until this year we really have had no need for it. If future summers are like this glorious one then we might decide to install it but for the moment we just recommend opening the windows! (At least ours do, unlike so many city hotels - which is, I suppose, why they have to have aircon.) We do hope you will return and, in the meantime, thank you again.

For a peaceful stay in an area famous for its castles and fish restaurants Orford cannot be missed! The hotel provided luxury chalet accommodation complete with a terrace adjacent to a private garden which was filled with butterflies and swifts. The breakfast, cooked to order, was magnificent and dinner in the attached Trinity Restaurant was sublime - with different menus on both nights that we stayed. The staff could not have been more helpful. A totally excellent and relaxing experience! Whilst in Orford buy sour dough bread from the Bakery (close Monday and Tuesday) and as well as eating at this hotel, try the famous Fish Restaurant in the town square. Also visit the Church - the location of the premiers of four important compositions by Benjamin Britten including Noye's Flood. % miles outside Orford also make certain that you visit Snape Maltings as well as Aldburgh for the best shop fish and chips in the area.

Room Tip: All rooms seem equally of high standard. They even allow for dogs!

It is really nice to get a review that doesn't just praise the C&C, but describes and praises other features of Orford and its environs, too. Thank you for both. We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay (although please can I change the description of your accommodation to Garden Room, rather than Chalet – sounds a bit too much like Butlins!) as well as the food and service. We hope you will return sometime in the near future but thank you again in the meantime.

I booked a night's stay to celebrate my partners 50th birthday. We are locals to Suffolk and have eaten at the doggy table several times before but it was lovely to stay too and we had a wonderful relaxing break.
Difficult to find anything to fault really. It is expensive but worth it for a special treat.
