“A Sunny Morning in Orford”
Review of Penny's cafe - CLOSED

We went specifically to see the Pump Street Bakery in Orford but it was closed! However, we then discovered, in the square, there were people sitting outside enjoying coffee. Being lucky enough to get a table we had a delicious espresso and a croissant. It was just like being in France-so glad we found it. Also a charming local gentleman on his was to the Post Office stopped to converse with us, luckily not in French! He gave us very interesting local information so we went and visited Dunwich Museum. It is part of the an award winning local shop, deservedly so when you go inside.

Good cakes and competes well with the Pump Street Bakery next door but one. Coffee passed the Maggie test so must be good.

After a walk along the river, this was a welcome place to stop for a rest and have a lovely cup of coffee sitting outside, watching the world go by.

Had lunch here today. Have eaten in a number of places in Orford and have not been happy with the meal, service or price. We had coffee here when we first arrived and then after a long walk returned for lunch. There was a wide variety of people there from families with children, older people, cyclists etc. The food was made when you ordered it and I thought it was priced very well compared to some food prices we have come across this summer. We had the meat platter and cheese platter, both loaded with local produce and at £6.95 well worth the money. The shop next door was very busy but the café was very relaxing and we enjoyed watching the world go by as we ate our lunch. The people around us seemed to have had everything from sandwiches to cake and the home made sausage rolls looked very good. On a warm sunny day, rare in England this was a wonderful place to eat and we really enjoyed our food, the service and the setting.

Initially went to the bakery but left after feeling the air filled with pretention and snobbery. We then discovered this little gem, friendly service, lovely coffee and cakes. Maybe a little overpriced but it's only like anywhere else that gets frequented by tourists. It's a nice alternative to the chain coffee shops in the nearby Woodbridge.
