“Great venue for a holiday with family or friends”
Reviewed 11 October 2012

Our family group of 8 stayed in the larger property here in August to celebrate my parents' Golden wedding anniversary. We had two children in our group (ages 14 & 7) and wanted somewhere where there were things to do, plenty of space, and a great location to enjoy the surrounding countryside. We chose well with this place and we all had a great time.
There are lots of things to do on the site itself, including table tennis, badminton, a covered swimming pool, lawns to play cricket, boules etc, as well as a garden and terrace area to barbecue and generally chill out. The nearby golf course at Saen Sans is very good, and if you take your bikes, there are some nice places to cycle, including into the town for coffee and cake.
The owner, Mr Davis, was pleasant and helpful when we needed him, otherwise he left us to enjoy our holiday. There was plenty of space in the house for us all to live in for the week, so we could enjoy being together, but not feel cramped. There are good cooking facilities here, and some interesting restaurants in town for eating out. Highly recommended!

Such a lovely place in a beautiful setting. Good amenities in the house and excellent for a family. Delightful owners! The swimming pool was only heated by the sun so was not very warm during our stay .Having paid £4000 to stay here for the week we were very surprised that having spent a long time cleaning the house on the Saturday we were charged an extra 60 euros for cleaning after our departure.

We, 10 of us, stayed here end of September. The place is unique and well appointed with good furnishings. All the rooms are a good size and we were able to have a dinner party with no problem. Jonathan, the owner, was helpful and courteous and left us to it. He also cooked for us on one evening and it was superb (well done again!) We stayed in the larger of the houses and it was immaculate, all amenities present and everything you need and more in the kitchen. The grounds are huge and well maintained, the pool was a suprise - very large indeed and the water very clean. The bbq outside was better than any I have used at home, so much so we used it under umbrellas !
The location is good (for us at least) It is very rural, a couple of miles from the local town which was very charming and well, French ! We also went to Rouen which was around 45 mins I think. The beds were comfortable and plenty of bathrooms dotted around for so many of us. The main lounge also had plenty of comfy seats. A nice touch was a good stereo with an auxillary cable already there for listening to our own music ....

We would stay there again without hesitation - maybe in the sunnier months to make use of the patio area I suppose !

We booked this gite on Simply Chateau. I cost us almost £4000 for a week. We were led to believe this was luxury accomodation. What a disappointment! The entrance was unkempt, the kitchen sink stained brown, the undersink pipework was held up on two bricks, the drawer in which the kitchen utensils were kept was dirty, the shelves on which the kitchen pots, pans and were kept were also dirty, some of the dishes had food residues, the towels and tea towels were well used and a grey colour, we were expected to deal with our own waste and were told waste bags were 1 euro each. The upholstery in the lounge was stained and when we moved the cushions there was dirt underneath. We spent the first day cleaning the kitchen. There was also a limit on the amount of gas and electricity we could use! No welcome pack. No milk or bread after a long journey. The pool was a good walk away from the house which it not appear to be in the advert. But it was not bad when we got there and all

enjoyed it! To access the Internet we had to go into the garden and find the 'spot by the table tennis table'. We did express our dissatisfaction to the owner to which he appears to have taken umbrage and said they had spent five hours cleaning the house before our arrival. For a place of this size we would have expected this time at least. As the last straw, on the last morning the owner marched in without invitation or greeting and told us to get moving. He has since taken £123 from our deposit of £750 for cleaning following our visit. We left the place cleaner than it was when we arrived.
