First, the Island Treasure exists no more. But the Balmichael Visitor and Crafts Center has over the winter metamorphosed into a really good attraction. When you enter on the right hand: «Pooch», where Nici Boni sells her handmade (on the premises) real leather bags, cushions and more, as well as Assja B. produces wonderful jewellery. All is attractively presented and the two crafts people are glad to show and explain how they make their goods. In another building one can visit Simon Thorburns Pottery and Sheila Barrs Glass works. Kids (and grown-ups) can design and paint their own plate, which will the be fired on the premises. You find also the Lemon Tree an intersting display of homemade (on Arran, of course) wooden and other crafted gifts. At the Trareaoch shop you can find groovy presents, a huge lot of articles for cross stitching and hand knitted merchandise. The Old Mill Café is also very attractive and our experience was super! Real pizza cooked in a perfect oven. But you are welcome also if you look just for a small drink.
And finally, the must-go if you have kids: a number of large trampolins, other installation where kids can spend hours and a pond with well over 20 ducks. The only snug was the laser-shooting: one has to make a reservation a day in advance.
And the website is a bit behind the reality, tonerre de Brest!!!
