“Jewel in the Crown”
Reviewed 16 February 2014

Haven't been here for many years, is a great place and location but used to be a bit tired. New owners have completely transformed this place into something this beautiful place was crying out for.
A superb, truly authentic, higher end traditional restaurant. Tastefully furnished and decorated in fine country house style. Went for dinner on Friday evening - the place was full - a good sign this place has got it right. Food - really clever - relatively conservative menu, finest quality, superbly cooked. We had ribeye steak - a good test of a restaurant since so many use poorer quality meat and can't therefore get the cooking right. This place nailed it spot on - simply the best I've ever had. All the courses were excellent. Wine list also clever - smallish but great range. Service, like all good restaurants of this type, was friendly, professional, unstuffy.
A quality restaurant experience at bistro prices.
We're already arranging to take some overseas visitors here to experience the place, service, food and know they, like us, will love it.
Well done Washingborough Hall - you have really got the recipe right.

Thank you very much for your wonderful glowing review. We're delighted you like what we've done with the building - we continue to evolve and re-invest all the time. Who knows where we'll be in another 5 years!

“Very enjoyable meal in a lovely setting”
Reviewed 7 December 2013

Dining room (in fact whole hotel) decked out beautifully for Xmas. Fabulous atmosphere, great log burner, superb beer (Tom Woods Lincoln Ale). 2 of us had steaks the other a vegetarian main, all very good. Staff superb, desserts and cheeseboard equally so. Can't wait to return. A little bit pricey, but overall a very enjoyable relaxed evening

“Sunday Lunch with Jacket & Tie”
Reviewed 11 November 2013 via mobile

Over the years I have eaten @ this hotel many times & attended more than my share of wedding receptions but this was the first time with the new owners. Well I was very impressed on this visit with the presentation & quality of food which was enjoyed by all in our family group. The front of house, bar & serving staff where all very professional & polite but the hostess was a delight making us all feel very welcome.
This hotel is a little up market so be aware your fellow dinners may be wearing a jacket & tie for dinner but that's a small price to pay for a quality meal I'm sure all will enjoy.
Highly recommended even without J&T.

Dear Smiler, thank you for your kind review, we are delighted you enjoyed yourselves although after recently celebrating 5 years of ownership I am wondering when we might lose the tag of 'New Owners' ! Hope to see you again soon.

“very nice but too difficult if not staying at the property”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

great light and very nice room. Service was a bit slow due to low staffing levels. The chiefs at dinner are quite good and willing to accommodate requests.

Our 'Chiefs' who bent over backwards to accommodate your dietary requirements are touched by your description of them being 'quite good'.
