“Excellent setting and close to Lincoln”
Reviewed 30 September 2011

Beautiful house, welcoming entrance very friendly helpful staff, room was lovely four poster overlooking the garden, very large lots of space nicely furnished and large bathroom with shower. The only fault with this room is if your are a light sleeper the pipes make a noise when the people above use the bathroom and it goes on and on!!!! I was walking the bedroom at 12.30am it was like torture, when I checked out I told the receptionist she just said yes we know but don't know what is causing it!!! I think it should be sorted, keeping guests awake.
Lovely dining room food very good (portions for us on the large side) good service, lovely bar area plenty of seating.
Breakfast the hot menu was very good, but there is very little choice on the cold buffet for a Hotel of this quality, more fruit, yoghert/pastry and cold meat and cheese would be nice!!
We would go back but not in room 20 until the problem is sorted out.
All in all a nice stay.

Thank you Julia for your review. We are so sorry that you encountered problems with Room 20 when you stayed. We were only notified of this problem in the last two weeks and I have a plumber due on site this week to try and get to the bottom of it. It is one of the problems with a Georgian House that there are strange plumbing issues. There are no bedrooms above Room 20 but the problem seems to happen when someone has left the hot tap running in the Gents toilet or a guest has a late bath/shower and then the system refills. We are extremely sorry for the disturbance that this caused but rest assured it will be sorted.

Thank you for your kind words regarding our food and service - glad we serve too large a portion as opposed to too little. We welcome your comment regarding the choice on our cold breakfast options. We have always felt it was better to provide a smaller limited selection of quality items rather than a mass of poorer quality items. However, we will take your comments onboard and ask our future guests of they have any preferences for breakfast.

I do hope that you will choose to come and stay with us in the future.

On July 30th my husband and I had our wedding reception at Washingborough Hall and it was fabulous. From the start of the process when booking all the way through to the day itself was beyond our wildest expectations. When we chose the menu they couldn't have been more accomodating and helpful. The food on the day was exceptional and all the feedback from the guests was how it was one of the best weddings they have ever been to. Thank you to Lucy and her staff who were amazing. The rooms were wonderful too and the bridal suite was a deal maker with the four poster bed and a bath to soak for hours in. This is a perfect place for a wedding as the setting is beautiful and the hotel makes it intimate and special. If your not getting married then the food and rooms are worth a stay as they are spectacular, we ate there many times in the run up to the wedding and the food was always perfect.

Thank you so much for your very kind review. Congratulations on your wedding - it was a lovely day and the team really enjoyed helping make your day so special. We believe that as a small, family owned hotel we can offer our guests a more personal and bespoke service than if we were a larger organisation. Dan and his kitchen team are thrilled that you were so pleased with the food - it makes all their hard work worthwhile. So glad that you were happy with our Bridal Suite - it is one of our favourite rooms. We all wish you a very happy married life and look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Looking for somewhere special for a birthday whilst staying with family in Lincoln, stumbled across this truly excellent hotel. Small, family run and very personable boutique style, so no pool/ spa etc, but so much the better for it. Rooms throughout are individual and are very lovely. Our 'man's' 4-poster was masculine and restrained. Very elegant all around, as are the public rooms, which are comfy to say the least. Beautiful antique furniture all around. Quiet and surrounded by lovely gardens.

Hotel could not do enough to help make the day special, including a special birthday card! The drink and food provided was exemplary (separately reviewed).

If you are looking to stay in Lincoln, this is well worth staying the slightly longer journey. Make sure you eat there too!

Thank you for taking the trouble to write two wonderful reviews for us. To know that our guests enjoy their stay with us means so much to Lucy and I. Our goal is to make Washingborough , a home from home, with great food, a warm welcome and good service. We are well into our development programme and so happy that you appreciated the newly refurbished four poster room and also the public rooms. I will be passing on your kind comments to our team and I know that they will all be pleased that you enjoyed your time with us.

We stayed in one of the four-poster rooms (room 20). It was beautifully decorated and has lovely windows looking out over the lawn. The bathroom was nice too, with a range of L'Occitane toiletries.
All the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was great - both for the evening meal and breakfast.
If the water pressure had been higher in the shower, this would definitely be my favourite hotel room ever.

Hi Mouselet, Thank you so much for your very kind review. Room 20 is one of our recently decorated executive rooms and we are really pleased that so many of our guests are enjoying the upgraded facilities. I am delighted that you found the food and service to your liking as we strive to offer excellence in both.
I am sorry that you had a problem with the water pressure. Unfortunately it is a problem inherited with a Georgian Grade 2 listed building. We have been waiting for approval to install a new boiler and pressure system which will vastly improve the situation. I am delighted that we will be starting work on this in the first week of 2012. I do hope you will choose to visit us again and test the improvements for yourself! Thank you again.

My Husband and I got married at Washingborough Hall Country House Hotel on 29th April 2011. The venue was absolutely sublime. The gardens were well manicured and provided a beautiful backdrop for our photographs. Lucy and her team were fantastic and ensured that every last detail was perfect leaving us and our guests to relax and enjoy a perfect day. The rooms were immaculately clean and beautifully decorated. The food was absolutely delicious, with excellent presentation and good portions sizes. I would recommend Washingborough Hall to anyone looking for an elegant and stylish wedding venue or for those looking to enjoy a romantic break away. The location is excellent for exploring the city of Lincoln and I can guarantee that once you have visited Washingborough Hall you will return time and time again. I cannot wait to book our next trip and I cannot thank Lucy and her staff enough for making our wedding day perfect.

Wow, what a review!! Thank you so much for taking the time to post this. Your wedding was for us THE Royal Wedding and the only one that mattered on that day. Lucy takes great pride in organising all the weddings here herself and I know she is absolutely thrilled with your comments but more importantly we are all so glad that Washingborough Hall gave you both your perfect day.
We look forward to welcoming you back.
