Initial impressions very good. Nice rooms, attentive staff, beautiful bar lunch, gorgeous grounds. However, that evening wanted to sit out on terrace to enjoy sunset and but were moved off at 9:00 due to health and safety....... strange. Following morning breakfast was very slow and orders mixed up/forgotten, although apologised for profusely. 2% extra on credit card on payment also helped take shine off things. Shame as this could have been almost perfect.

Thank you for your review, I am pleased that on the whole Washingborough Hall was good and that you enjoyed our beautiful peaceful setting. It would seem that there had been a problem with the outside lighting that weekend and we had been left with a fault to fix with lighting the pathways and steps to the terrace. I understand your disappointment with not fully enjoying the evening sun, the terrace is normally closed at 10pm to comply with EHO regulations and in consideration of our residential location. I'm pleased you had an alternative form of payment and that 2% was incurred on your departure for credit card charges. We would be delighted if you would re visit us again to enjoy our improvments on the breakfast front too. Again thank you for your feedback.

Our search for a small, intimate and beautiful wedding began during September and October 2013. We knew we had in the region of 40 or so guests attending from various parts of the UK and rest of the World.

Having spent several weekends visiting venues along with far too many evenings trawling the internet for alternatives then ruling them out for various reasons… too big, too formal, limited enthusiasm from staff, no ‘Wow’ factor and many other reasons we came across Washingborough Hall having driven past it many times!

We arranged to meet with Lucy in order to discuss the possibility of holding the wedding at Washingborough. The moment we arrived we were impressed by the beautiful grounds and entrance, we weren’t disappointed when we entered the Hall either. This has the ‘Wow’ factor!

We sat with Lucy for a while to discuss, budgets, numbers of people, possible running order, food requirements and how the day would run. Lucy was fantastic – we had a good idea of what we wanted but weren’t sure of the finer points or possible cost or timing implications. We got some really great suggestions and in some areas we actually saved money!

We then had a look around Washingborough Hall. The entire venue is beautifully decorated and you get a real sense of occasion without losing any comfort or intimacy.

We left the Hall with a clear idea of how our wedding day would play out and Lucy had agreed to send across a quote for the day. We were keen to have Washingborough on an exclusive basis to ensure that everyone could truly enjoy the wedding and be themselves.

Lucy provided the quote and we were happy to proceed. With several months until the Wedding (May 2014) we then busied ourselves with invites, choosing food, flowers and everything else that goes along with the wedding day. The support from Lucy and the team when any decisions, advice or changes to plan were needed was fantastic (we did change things quite a lot as well!!)

Once we’d decided on the menu and drinks we were invited to try the meal and meet the chef to discuss any changes… This was a great touch, nothing was too much trouble – we had various dietary requirements to accommodate – from diabetics to Babies to shellfish allergies – all solved without any problems… little touches like whether we want mustard or horseradish really conveyed how much they cared about our day and wanted to make sure that we really didn’t need to worry about a thing.

The day of the wedding went absolutely perfectly. All staff were there to help whenever needed… attentive but not overbearing, friendly but not too familiar – Lucy made sure that timings were perfect or changed if we were taking longer over something – again… nothing was too much trouble.

It’s fantastic to have Washingborough Hall on an exclusive basis as the following days breakfast becomes a continuation of the whole wedding and an opportunity relax again amongst friends and family.

In summary the venue is beautiful and we had the most perfect day. I can’t speak highly enough of everyone that works at Washingborough Hall – I’m so grateful for all that they did to make the day so wonderful.

Just a short overnight stay for us to celebrate a 25th wedding anniversary. The evening meal was delicious and despite promising myself to 'go light' for breakfast the following day I did in fact cave in and have the cooked breakfast, which I enjoyed very much. My wife did likewise.

The hotel is beautifully appointed, bright and airy, and the staff were helpful and welcoming. The executive room we stayed in was lovely, with an excellent view over the garden. We slept well and were wowed by the morning sun on the lavender in the lovely gardens.

Just a couple of suggestions: The hotel is very close to a cycle/walking trail that runs along the local river and links Boston to Lincoln; more should be made of this fact as the trail provides an excellent traffic free route in to the City for anyone who likes to be active and wants to escape the car. It took us around 50 minutes to walk the 4 miles to Lincoln Castle and the surface of the trail is 'all weather' and almost flat, so would even suit a wheel chair user. I reckon the hotel could pull in more cycle lovers if they plugged this facility a bit more !

Secondly....a minor gripe; the shower was beautifully laid out and spacious but its visual promise of a power shower experience proved misleading.....it was in fact just about adequate. However, it was clean and it worked, so not that bad really ;-)

We would certainly consider returning if ever back in the Lincoln area.

Thanks,

Alan and Hilary, Buxton.

Room Tip: See related comments about the nearby cycle/walking trail. It's picturesque and quiet. Executi...

Stayed for 3 nights early July 2014 following a great break here back in 2013. The hotel, facilities, staff, food, in fact everything are absolutely excellent. The rooms are beautifully appointed and well sized. Excellent coffee and tea making facilities plus bottled water and the hotel's special cookies provided fresh every day.

A special mention once again to Dan Wallis, the head chef, for making my wife's gluten/wheat intolerance seem totally surmountable at each and every course. Dan even came out of the kintchen to talk through her specific requirements - we have never stayed in an hotel where this has happened before so full marks for this.

All in all and excellent hotel and we'd have no hesitation in recommending it.

Room Tip: They are all good but rooms on the car park side do have some kitchen extractor fan noise especially...

Great, will certainly pass on to Dan your kind words. He is married to the lovely Hayley who is also gluten intolerant, so has lots of practise at home! The whole kitchen team are fantastic at catering for different dietary requirments, to the point of catering for a vegan wedding for 50 guests a week ago, no easy task but with our flexibiltiy and tailor made mentality, it was a huge success! Look forward to seeing you again soon!

We have just returned from a 3 night ( for 2) stay at the Washingborough Hotel. The staff cod not have been more helpful or accommodating. When I phoned to ask if I needed to pre book a table for dinner I was told not to worry "we'll look after you'" and that indeed was the case. Nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend this for a quiet relaxing break.

Have just returned from an overnight stay at Washingboroough Hall as a Wedding Guest.
The Hall, rooms and grounds are imaculate, the organisation could not be faulted. The
staff were of best quality, smiling, pleasant and always happy to help, even after the long
hours of their duty.
An impressive venue for any event. Well done 'Washy Hall'

Dear Washingborough Hall,
Many thanks for providing such a wonderful party for my parents, and their 30 guests. The whole experience was perfect, the smooth and efficient organising, the fabulous pre lunch drinks on the Terrance whilst watching the children play crochet on the lawn, followed by a sumptuous lunch. The staff were most accommodating & efficient, in a friendly, relaxed and discrete manor. This hotel really is beautiful, the grounds are immaculate, with decadent country house interiors, yet very inviting, homely and comfortable. Well done to all, we can't wait for the next excuse for a party!
