“Our stay at Branston Hall”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

We stayed over for one night, the hotel is very grand and in an exceptional setting, we used the hotels leisure facilities pool, sauna and steam room, which were cosy but very good. We had a twin room on the ground floor, which was conveniently a few steps away from the pool area and reception. The only downside to it was that there was a little bit of noise with people coming back in from their nights out. The room itself was really lovely, lovely views of the lake and gardens and a very nice bathroom. The room I felt was very warm, but we adjusted to that, although we didn't have hot water on the night time..... we managed with luke warm, I did report it, and to be fair they was apologetic, but I do feel that that this is an area that they need to look into........ We didn't stay for an evening meal, we went to the local pub, a ten min walk away, and had a meal there and watched the band instead. The breakfast was really nice and apart from a couple of things, overall we enjoyed our stay.

Went last night for a family meal. Food was excellent amongst the best we have had(including Michelin stars). Great value for the quality of food on offer. Gravadlax salmon starter was to die for. Others had the squid which was also stupendous. Main course- Gressingham Duck- was brilliant. Service of the highest order. We will be back. Hurry to book a table, food this good will not remain a secret for long. BTW some of the poor reviewers need to get a dose of reality. Thanks to all for the best evening.

My husband had booked this special evening as a romantic treat. He particularly chose this hotel as it offered the pool, jacuzzi and sauna, along with the evening meal and breakfast. However, we were left rather disappointed that we was not able to use the jacuzzi. It's a shame as it would have been lovely to have full use of the facilities that had been paid for. Also, not really happy with booking a double room only to find that we were to have two single beds pushed together. After asking the receptionist about the beds, we were told that they were 'zipped together and we would be ok' Not really the response we wanted and even after mentioning about the jacuzzi being out of order, she just shrugged her shoulders and offered no apology! Very disappointed after my husband had picked this hotel out from many others as it had been recommended.

Dear reviewer,

Many thanks for taking the time to post your review. It was disappointing to read that a few technical issues spoiled your stay and I apologise on behalf of the whole team for the way this was handled. It was unfortunate that the spa pool was not working on this occasion but when this happens it is sadly beyond our control.

My husband and I stayed on a very quiet Monday evening after having a meeting .
It is a beautiful old building .
Our room was lovely , looking out over the lake .
The room was very clean but the bathrooms need upgrading , very 1980's decor .
We used the pool and sauna , all clean and all to ourselves !
We ate in the bar , the food was gorgeous .
Staff are very polite and friendly .
We will be back .

I had been recommended this venue so treated my friend as an xmas pressy. It was a monday in january and the food was extremely poor the scones were like biscuits and I was expecting a selection of sandwiches all i got was tuna and the cakes appeared to be a week old for £12 a head it was very disappointing shall not recommend. I would have received better food at supermarket cafes.

Dear reviewer,

I am sorry to read this review and hear via trip advisor that your afternoon tea experience was not up to the standard of your expectation. I will not try to maker any excuses, if the food quality was poor and I can only apologise on behalf of the whole team at the hotel.

I do believe this was an occurrence which is not usual at the hotel, and by the fact that you were reccommended to visit by other friends perhaps backs this up.

I realise you may not wish to visit again but we would like to try and make amends. If you wish to visit again we invite you to a complimentary afternoon tea for 2. Please call the hotel direct, quoting your TA pseudonym and we will be happy to welcome you back to Branston Hall and hope we can rectify the shortfalls from your previous visit.

Once again, please accept our apologies and we hope to see you return.
