“Fantastic pool a short walk from the shops & beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2013

We stayed for 5 nights in April 2013. We found the staff very friendly & helpful. The pool was amazing - we had pool access from our room & wouldn't have it any other way. The swim up bar was fantastic & we enjoyed the frequent happy hours this resort has daily (cocktails = 2 for 200 Baht). On a neutral point, breakfast could have been better for me if muesli was on offer. If you don't want a cooked breakfast then there is only corn flakes & chocolate flakes with fresh fruit & plain yogurt on offer. This is the type of breakfast our kids usually eat and a little more upmarket breakfast for the non hot food breakfast traveller would be great. If you like a cooked breakfast then plenty is on offer. Regarding the rooms, they appear a little aged already for such a new(ish) resort. The furniture was chipped in places, paint repairs not precise and we even had a room towel with holes in it one day?!? Also the corners & skirting areas aren't cleaned down. Small things like our shower soap not being replaced when empty was a little annoying - however when I asked the room service ladies they happily offered more - however one shouldn't have to go find them. The pool bar closes at 5 pm - which seemed a shame as the pool seemed busiest around this time when guests were returning from their day trips. Take some insect repellent as the sliding doors don't have insect screens so the bugs do come in. On the positive, this hotel is just off the main road and offers a quieter location within an easy walk from the town or beaches. Tuk Tuks are 20 Baht per person into Ao Nang or if you can stand the heat its a 5 minute walk. Do try the local stall holder who sells Pad Thai at the end of the street - one of the best meals we had in Thailand and only 50 Baht. For booking tours, when leaving the resort turn left & we used the 2nd tour desk along (about 25 meters). This lady was extremely helpful & spoke great English. We did our laundry with her also for 45 Baht per kilo. If you're looking for a tailor we can recommend 'Gary' at the tailor located beside the Sunset Resort (the first tailor you find when walking back along the main street towards Ao Nang). For massage, along the beach huts in Ao Nang try hut number 10. Lovely people & great massage. We'd stay at this hotel again for it's fantastic location, friendly staff & the fantastic pool - but don't expect immaculate lodgings.

Room Tip: Book a pool access room!

Wonderful staff and great rooms! So modern and clean! Favorite bed and shower of 4 weeks in Thailand! Breakfast was really nice in an open, airy loft type restaurant with a wonderful selection of anything you could want. And if they didn't have it , they would get it for you! The pool is really nice and great to come home to after hanging around the busy beach area. There's a great laundry service just outside to the left - so cheap and so fast! We had dinner a few times upstairs also and it was fantastic also! Sometimes you just want to stay home! You won't regret a stay at Red Ginger!

The ladies at reception epitomize Thai culture. They are humble, friendly and despite language barriers, they make every effort to ensure you are having a good stay. We were given valuable inforrmation of local markets not frequented by tourists and when we didn't understand a digital Language translation was used - with a smile

Stayed here for a few nights in April 2013. Overall, we had an awesome experience. The staff was wonderful and friendly, the rooms were nice and well-appointed. Breakfast every morning included a good mix of Thai food and western food. The saline pool was great! Location was perfect, just a few minutes walk from the main drag, which can be very loud- so the secluded location was perfect. Cab drivers from the airport didn't seem to know where the place was, so maybe bring a map?

Overall a wonderful experience that I would recommend to anyone traveling to the area.

We booked 3 rooms. However. as they were overbooked, they offered us free upgrade to the Club room (2) and Ginger room (1). I'd most certainly recommend the Ginger room, very spacious, clean and decent furniture with good lighting all around. The pool is quite great; the hotel clean and spaciousness. The breakfast in the morning was standard. The only thing I can complain about is the meet and greet at the reception. With more smiles, warmth and politeness - the hotel can do more justice to itself.

Room Tip: Ginger room.

Stayed 4 nights over the Easter break with two teenage daughters, great room 410 two bedroom suite at top of hotel with view of sea over tops of front line buildings. Breakfast good, pool and bar excellent, staff friendly, helpful and efficient. And for the money, what alovely, lovely place. Put alot of 5 star places to shame. And for all those wifi junkies, it was free in the lobby!

Room Tip: 410 or any odd numbers on floor 4

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2013

We started our 4 day stay at Red Chic Resort by being told that our pool access room that we had booked was unavailable and they were upgrading us to a better room (what can be better than a pool access room??) They took us too show both the pool access room and the upgrade room, when we asked what was wrong with our room, they told us the air con wasn't working and when we said we would still stay there, they told us a tile was broken. We said we would still stay there, the lady was not happy and we were then taken to our room where the air con worked fine and no broken tiles. Not sure if they were keeping it to sell to someone else, but during our stay there was always at least 1 or 2 pool access rooms free.

We had also ordered a twin room and were told there was only a king size bed available. When we asked if there was any single mattresses they could bring in, they told us they had none left and when we left the hotel we saw one lying in the corridor. It was more like they didn't want to change the room around.

The pool was beautiful and the pool access room was great to lounge around on our own balcony. The pool bar strangely closed at 5, well before people would get home from day trips. The pools busiest time was prob 6 til 7.30, so makes no sense why they would close at 5.

The breakfast was fairly average, with not a huge range.

The place was full of mosquitoes and we had our own mozzie coils and bagon inspect spray - (that we used a can of each day), but we still got bitten every night. Not helped by the cleaners leaving the doors wide open when they cleaned each day.

The rooms are a good size and location is fantastic, they just need to improve on their customer service, keep the pool bar open and play some music for atmosphere and it could be a much better place to stay.
