Aonang Cliff Beach Resort

Myself and a friend stayed in Bangkok, Koh Samui and Ao Nang, and this hotel was by far the best of our trip!

The pictures look exactly like the hotel does so it was a massive relief to learn it wasnt done by photoshop!

The hotel is on the main strip, literally out the door and you're on the main high street with tons of restaurants and touristy type shops and agencies and the usual beauty parlours. Some people in previous reviews complained about road noise, but we didnt hear anything apart from the water running from the swimming pool. Very relaxing!

The staff were fantastic especially when we had a bit of a disaster with a rogue Travel Agent- UNSEEN TRAVEL in Bangkok (AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!). Throughout the trip they were all lovely, especially the reception ladies who were always really helpful.

One small negative, it would have been really good it all the food was covered for breakfast. Its really lovely sitting in the roof top restaurant, but some of the food had flies buzzing around. Particularly the fruit, it made me not want to eat it....

Apart from that, a really good stay! I would definitely recommend!

I never usually book hotels unless they have a high TA rating and rave reviews, but after hours of searching through overpriced outdated accommodation in Aonang I stumbled across this hotel (not sure why it's listed under specialty lodging), with very few reviews and no pictures - but I'm so glad I did!

Very warm and friendly staff (but not overly so that it makes you feel uncomfortable). Lovely welcome with drink and cool towel and it was valentine's day so two single roses on the beds were a nice touch. I'd accidentally booked a twin room, put this was sorted to a double the day after arrival. Breakfast was great, a good selection and nice setting.

The room was clean, spacious and more storage than I've ever seen. Communal areas are immaculate and have a real open feeling. Nice pool area, not a huge amount of loungers, on our planned pool day they were full so we had to change our plans (get there before 10am). Towels are provided for the pool and days out. There is complimentary afternoon tea a couple of days and daily happy hour which was good value. The only food available were satays which weren't nice, a small snack menu would be a good addition.

Our room overlooked the road (which other reviews have complained about), however as a light sleeper I didn't find it too bad, a bit of noise from people outside McD's in the early hours but the traffic wasn't disturbing.

Great location for being in the centre of everything and short walk to beach. A tip for eating out, down the hill and along the front are the more touristy/expensive places, if you turn left up the hill there are some great authentic thai restaurants. Our faves were the Massaman on the left, and the fab Boat Noodle, further up on the right (spicy beef salad to die for, got a feast with drinks for 250 baht)!!!

Really enjoyed our 7 nights here the only things that could have made it even better... finishing on some of workmanship was a bit shody (pencil marks and paint still visible), the mosquito screen had a big hole in so we kept our doors shut but they still found a way in. It was my boyfriends 40th whilst we were there, some acknowledgement from the hotel would have been a welcome gesture (I know other hotels do this as a matter of course).

Have added some pics so you can see genuine pics (not the wide angled ones on the website)!!! Would definitely stay here again!

I loved this hotel. It was clean, friendly and although on the busy main street to the beach, with the windows closed very quite. If the noise from the street worries you ask for a room at the back, facing the pool.
We had booked through a travel company who had put us in a Twin Room because that is all they had available. We did not even have to ask and we were offered a double on arrival. While I understand staff and people have “off days” we encountered none of the problems mentioned in other reviews regarding the staff, even the Cleaning Staff went out of the way to say hello whenever they saw us. The reception and bar staff were happy friendly and helpful.
The bar was not cheap (Relatively to the surrounding area) but then what hotel bar is? The pool area was small but adequate and a good place to have a drink on the way back from your days activities. The pool itself was spotless, with a separate shallow pool for children, it was also not Super Chilled as you quite often get in the Med so it was pleasant to swim in the morning but by the end of the day was like the heated pools here in Blighty which may put some people off. (Bear in mind the sea is the same!)
Overall I would thoroughly recommend this Hotel for both couples and families. Ao Nag itself is a good place to dip your toe into Thai life without having the seedier side rammed down your throat, (it’s there but you have to look for it).

We spent 3 nights at this hotel in February 2010. The rooms are spacious, modern and luxurious. We kept our eyes out for a deal on Expedia and found a wonderful price for this great hotel. Even the regular price is very reasonable though. The location is a few minutes walk from the beach in the heart of the tourist area. There is a wonderful infinity pool and spa area and an great group of friendly and helpful staff. I would stay here again without hesitation!
