We were pleasantly surprised to find this resort in such a wonderful location: it is close to EVERYTHING! The beach is nearby, just 10-minute stroll. Go in the evening to catch the sun's final rays for a beautiful sunset, weather permitting.
Just about 20 meters from the resort, across the road, there are a few hawkers selling street food which the brave may want to try out. For authentic Krabi food, you must try the grilled fish, done so well the skin is crispy and flesh soft and moist!
There is also a mini-mart and a bank practically "next door"; but the prices at the mini-mart is not all that friendly; get your essentials here but there are better bargains for other items like souvenirs at the beach front.
Timber House also offers massage and spa services, but we found the prices lower and reception better nearer the row of shops facing the beach.
Talking about the beach, you have the luxury of choosing which you'd like to visit: the famous Ao Nang beach, or the quieter Nopparat Thara Beach.
The staff is friendly (but not particularly knowledgeable) and rooms clean. But really lacks facilities: no complimentary coffee/tea; no free wifi; no hairdryer; no gym; and limited choices on the (non-flat screen) TV. The included breakfast was nothing to shout about, and also a "gamble" because there were no labels for the food served, and on one occasion, when I had to ask a staff what the dish was, she had to go to the kitchen to find out from the chef!
High rating is basically for the location.

Timber House is a very relaxing resort. We have been assigned a double room beside a pool which we first thought that it may disturb our sleep but surprisingly it didn't. We enjoy the good view from our room. The only drawback is that there is some unpleasant smell from the curtain in bathroom. There is not much choice for buffet breakfast as well. Anyway, I really like the location. If you are lazy to walk to Aonang Beach just hire a Tuk-Tuk for as low as 40 bahts. The staff is very helpful (arrange day tour for us) even she can't really speak very fluent English. I would recommend this resort to my friends.

Room Tip: Pool side room: D108, D109 and D110

My husband, I and our daughter stayed here for 4 nights in early January. We had booked the one bedroom family suite, as opposed to the regular family room. We expected that this would mean that there was a seperate bedroom, but it was actually just a regular looking family room with a Queen bed and a single, so not sure what the extra $$ was really paying for. The location of this hotel is really good, just a short walk to the beach and an array of restaurants are close by. We found the room clean and comfortable but not really worth the money we spent (although it was peak season). The Breakfast is pretty ordinary and some of the buffet items look completely unappertising - stick to the Omelettes and toast! We sent a large amount of washing to the hotel laundry the day before we were leaving and when it was not returned by the time it was due we had to repeatedly call the hotel reception to find out what was going on - our laundry had been lost and the staff made no real effort to find it , until I went down to reception telling them we had to leave for the airport- we got the laundry back, it seems it had been delivered to the wrong room, they still made us pay for the service which seemed a bit rich considering we had spent so much time having to chase them for it. Overall not a disaster but still wouldnt stay here again.

Our family of 5 (children's ages 7, 9, & 11) stayed here for five nights in January 2012. We were very happy with the location (only a 10-minute walk to two different beaches and tons of restaurants), but were not happy with the services provided. First, we had arranged to be picked up by a taxi at the airport when we arrived, but after contacting the hotel from Krabi's airport were told that no taxis were available and that we should find an alternative route. This really wasn't a problem but we would have appreciated them telling us this from the beginning so that we could have been better prepared and understand our best options (wish we would have taken a taxi!). Second, my daughter and I scheduled a pedicure at the hotel and were really disappointed. The fee was 500 baht for 1 hour, even for an 11-year-old. We decided to go ahead and then discovered that the pedicure was simply painting toe nails (no massage) and lasted only 20 minutes (not 1 hour). Not quite what was advertised. The bottom line is that this is a clean hotel at a good price with a pool and in a good location to go adventuring. You don't really need the front office to help you as most people in the area speak English, but if you do like this type of help ... this is not the hotel for you.

Room Tip: We had AV-3 and thought it was very pleasant and not too loud from outside noises.

This hotel obviously focus on skandinavia package tourists. Other quests were from Sweden, Norway and Finland.

Room was very clean and were cleaned every day. Bed was made up during breakfast time. Room was little bit worn out but as mentioned, clean. Many TV channels with int. sport and news.
Minibar which can take also your own bottles. Also 2 0,5 liter waterbottles per day was included.
Only real downside for room was traffic noise from nearby street. Front door (sliding glass door) has no sound proof.

Breakfast from 7 to 10.30 was good average.. Everything you need to have lunch after midday. Including chef making omelets from orders, toast, couple thai-options, sausage, juice, tee and coffee. I think I saw also cerials there.

There was safebox at reception free of charge. Other safebox is in room with 50 baths per day charge.

Pool area is quite confortable. Sunbeds, shades and pool towels provided. Larger pool is 1.3 meters and pool for younger kids 0.5 meters deep. 2 showers next to pool.

Distance to Ao nang beach is about 10 minutes by foot. Tuktuk's also drive by the hotel often so you can take one also. During midday this walking distance is maybe too much for kids without stroller. Distance to beginning of Nopparat thara beach is less than 5 minutes.

Hotel has nice buffet dinner every evening with lot of choices from salads, BBQ fish and meat. Cost 250 bahts per person without drinks. Live music also there. Downside is that they are playing same songs every evening. That is why one time was enough for us.

I would go again specially if traveling with my children. Also hotel area is quite peaceful during evening. Comparing to Ao nang beach area it is lot more quiet even with that traffic noice.

There is wi-fi available with cost. it is called Krabi wifi so I quess it is sold all hotels at area. I tried it few hours and it was awfully slow. So slow that I am really wondering who has guts to ask money from it. Just to warn you..
