The first most important thing for you decide on is breakfast. it is not geared up for english or european tastes, the menu caters for thai and chinese and we were very outnumbered big time. the only english type food was chicken sausage (like tasteless canned hotdog), ham laid in boiling water, eggs freshly cooked all ways, sauted potato, croissant, nice bread and some buns, 2 x cereal, yoghurt, 3 x fruit and a few salad items. NO BACON, PORK SAUSAGE, CHEESE or TOMATO. we went to Mcdonalds. The staff in the restaurant are a little laid back and you have to do everything yourself.

The staff stuggle with english language, there are a token amount of staff about that can speak it, the wifi in the reception doesn't work well for everyone and there is a work around that I found out how to do myself - instructions at the bottom.

it is the only resort in Ao Nang that is in a jungle setting, all other resorts in Ao Nang are crammed in with hardly any greenery. it is a little rugged and makes all the usual bug noises. There has been work done to the pool hotel rooms but they are probably going to be the noisiest due to kids playing by pool and at one end there is a bar that plays live music outdoors, the cheap hotel and bungalows are a bit of a walk away but not that bad. the garden bungalows are under a jungle canopy and quite dark. we stayed in the luxury villa on top floor and had a view over the top of the canopy these were best rooms, but we got it half price if I had to pay full price I would have gone to an out of town 5 star instead.

There is work being done to the resort and had been stepped up by the time we were leaving, all the water features need cleaning out and the pool bed mattresses are disgusting that I would never lay on one but so were the other resorts with more stars, also outside the restaurant it is waste land and needs paving as it is unsightly. other structural things need attention and the jet sprayer needs to be used alot. be careful which bungalow you choose, some face onto the toilet block of the one in front, they are quite dark too being under the jungle canopy but that is what it is meant to be like. many bodge jobs done by cowboy builders or just need attention but not bad enough for me to tell you not to stay there, i guess you would just laugh like we did, bathroom silicon is a disaster in thailand full stop. Photos show reality.

Otherwise it was OK compaired to the other resorts we saw which had all the same or similar issues and none of the other resorts in the Ao Nang centre were in a resort jungle setting, most were crammed up in the concrete some with many steep steps and beware when choosing a resort that it is not near the road as that is really noisy and often they have rooms above shops and bars facing onto the street when they are made to sound like a boutique hotel.

If I had to choose again I would have gone to the sheriton or centera but the only thing is that the bill at the end of the week would have broken me financially and taxis/longtails would be stacking up cost too - but krabi resort and these two (among some others near the sheriton) were the only hotels with a true beach resort atmosphere. Ao Nang itself doesn't really have any beach sunbathing so choose your hotel well if you want to sunbathe as most of them have very small pool areas - Ao Nang is not geared for sun worshippers unless you go to krabi resort or one of the resorts further away. so think about it - krabi resort has beach/pool and near to town but with some downsides which it seems might be being tackled by the time we left ready for the high season - beat that!

Internet Instructions
if you can't get on the internet then you need to statically assign an IP address to your PC/IPAD/internet phone because the DHCP server giving out IP addresses doesn't always redirect you to the gateway. you need to find where to type these in the properties of the internet settings in internet protocol (IPV4)
IP Address - this needs to be unique and I configured a few peoples with the following - see how the last number is different 10 - 20 seemed to work.
192.168.1.10 or 192.168.1.11 or 192.168.1.12 etc
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1
dns 192.168.1.1
on your ipad/iphone there is no proxy server

Room Tip: choose the Luxury Villas on top floor

We stayed at the Krabi Resort in Sept 2012 for the 3rd time. We booked a deluxe hotel room but were upgraded to a bungalow due to renovations. Bungalows had larger rooms with a flat screen tv and a huge bathroom. They are in a lovely setting and quite private. The resort as ever was full of wildlife, lizards and squirrels. The ground are extensive and we enjoyed the daily walk after breakfast, while we were there a lot of work was being done to tidy up the grounds presumably for the high season. We didn't try the restaurant as there are many eateries just outside. Krabi Resort isn't the most modern of hotels buts it's setting and grounds certainly make up for the slightly ageing buildings.

We stayed at Krabi Resort in Deluxe hotel from 24/08/2012 to 27/08/2012.I would say that only the service and the room was good(clean, comfortable, large and well maintained)The rest was a great let down and eyesore to look at!The resort badly need a tremendous face-lift,for a resort with huge grounds, they could do so much but sadly it was rather poorly maintained, shabby and unkempt.I'd rather not go into details about their grounds and how to maintain it.I was all the time out having a good time with my friends and only returned late to our rooms everyday. The breakfast was so bad that we even skipped it the next day.Apart from that the staffs were very polite and courteous although they could only manage very poor, broken english. One thing that's worth to mention as well is,Deen bellboy who was very kind and helpful towards us.In terms of handling our luggage and sending us to our rooms via minituk (lobby and our room are situated at walking distance of 15mins facing jungle)at anytime without complains and patiently waited even if we were delayed by 5 to 10 minutes of course with a smile. He deserves a pat on his shoulder from the management. The rest of staffs could use this guy as a example/learn from him on how to please their customers.I found the ladies at the front desk/reception lobby was not as welcoming and friendly as how they should be.Overall our stay was not too bad. Will i return..only if there is a price slash then i MIGHT think about it,chances are very very very low.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms was good but only thing is you'll be faced wt very unkept grounds and its situated...

The resort was great apart from the restaurant. The breakfast buffet was very disappointing - here we were in Thailand, and the "seasonal fruits" usually consisted of only two choices, despite the big choice of about a dozen fruits which we had had in Phuket a few days before. The choice of grapes and pineapple was pretty ordinary. The pre-cooked eggs were cold and un-appertising, and the coffee was not wonderful either,

Fortunately there are some great eating spots within 5 or 10 minutes walk from the resort,. so if you can ignore the breakfast (pre-paid), lunch and dinner were no problem.

Our room was very comfortable, with a lovely balcony and very peaceful and quiet, (We did think that some of the older accommodation looked a bit dingy, though.) We had a Deluxe Hotel Room, and recommend that. The only problem was that the shower took about 2 minutes to respond to the tap - but the weather was hot, so cold showers were not really a problem.

The staff were very helpful and obliging, and the pool was good.

Room Tip: Choose a Deluxe Hotel Room. Some of the other accommodation looked a bit dark and dated. It's...

Dear IBM-pgt,

Thank you for valuable feedback. Your positive remarks for our resort and its location are greatly appreciated.

I have also taken note on your opinion regarding our breakfast, and have shared to our Executive Chef to look into this matter and make the necessary improvement.

The issue regarding the water heating system for the shower had also been brought to our engineering team for improvements.

Once again, thank you for your constructive comment and we hope to be your hotel of choice again for your future visit in Krabi.

Warm regards,

May Srisanya

Stayed here from 24-29/07/12 and it's the second time I've stayed which was 2years ago. Both times stayed in bungalow A4. First row to the beach, hearing the waves was beautiful. I must say this time round the grounds seemed a little run down and the lawns needed a good mow. It's not the most up-to-date place but it's close, convenient and staff are friendly.

This was our first time to Krabi & we opted to stay at Krabi Resort, Aonang because they claimed that they are the only resort has its own private beach. We stayed in a Deluxe Hotel Room which was in a 3-storey building, and it didn't disappoint us. The room is new, big, clean, comfortable & with balcony. Hair dryer, safe, a small fridge are provided in the room. The bathroom is clean but after shower, the water is stagnant in the bathroom. There was no wifi in the room. We have to walk to the lobby to access the free wifi. There was no lights at the entrance of the hotel building, and it was so dark in the night time because it surrounded by the trees and limited street lights.

The resort area is big & they have many types of rooms around. Our room was near the main road whereas the restaurant was at the beach side. We have to walk 6-7 min everyday to have our breakfast in the restaurant, which is at the other end of the resort. The breakfast was no surprise. It served almost same food everyday (porridge, fried rice, vege, fried egg, fried noodles, sausage, ham, cornflakes). There is a small massage centre just right at the corner on the way to restaurant. The price is competitive with the massage centre outside the resort, but it closes at 9.00pm.

The location is great. There are lots of restaurants, shops, massage centre, travel agents just outside the resort. It is only 30-min walking distance to McDonalds with strolling speed. You can easily get taxi service along the beach side. But we walked everyday from resort to McD so that we can look around the shops there.

We have a great stay in Krabi Resort !
