“Great location and good facilities”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2014

We had a garden chalet near the sea front. It was a good size and had a nice veranda with recliner chairs. Possibly the best located hotel in Ao Nang with beach access, just off Main Street, with beach access to 4 very good restaurants. Very good breakfast buffet and everywhere clean and tidy. There was building work when we were there but noise and disturbance was negligible.

I emailed before arrival requesting a quiet area and peaceful room.
We were given a room close to the main street which had loud music every evening and traffic noise, all beyond the control of the hotel. I asked for an alternative room and got one which was perfect for us, we were shown and offered a super deluxe room which was fabulous but too far from the beach and pool and with the construction in progress a bit dusty. our pool side room was great for us.
Staff were always very attentive. The beach area in front of the hotel was cleaned by staff every morning. Elsewhere on the beach is dreadful, two places where raw sewage is running across the beach into the sea, and people were in the sea !!!!, no doubt there illness following a swim would be blamed on the food they ate wherever.
Ao Nang is not our sort of place, far to busy with tacky shops and second rate tailors.
If we were to come back to Thailand it would be the North away from the Beaches

Room Tip: Poolside rooms are fine away from the main road, the bungalows attract the mosquitos which are there...

We started our journey in Thailand from Krabi and I would say it seemed beautiful when we stepped into the property...and it was an awesome place...from the swimming pool to the private beach where you could eat drink and have fun. The staff was courteous and helpful, the food was tasty, we had complimentary bfast included in our package but the timings of the bfast was till 9.30-10 which I think was really early, and we did skip our bfast few times. It had a large variety of things to eat and the ambience was even better. It is located right in the center of a market so if you like eating authentic thai food then you can go out and you will find so many stalls and restaurants to choose from there are many supermarkets and pharmacy near by. In total a very good trip and place to spend time.

During our 2 weeks vaccation in Krabi, we lived in Krabi Resort, Ao nang. The hotel area was beautiful and in good condition. The personel on the hotel was nice, helpful and always positive and happy. The hotelroom was clean and overall in good condition. A little minus was the air-condition which sometimes gave out a bad smell. Also the bathroom smelled sometimes bad.
The breakfast was excellent and the omelets, oo what can i say, SO GOOD!!

Overall was our staying in Krabi Resort positiv and we can recommend it to 100% !

We stayed in the Deluxe Hotel - 'Garden View' room during our visit to Krabi. I had booked this hotel after reading some of the great reviews on tripadvisor. However, I have to agree with the terrible/poor reviews with regards to this hotel.

Here's why:
- Ongoing Construction: The hotel has posted a note on it's website regarding the construction. However this seems to be ongoing since the summer of 2013 and it doesn't look to get completed by 2015. A lot of dirt, dust and dirty water was present as a result of this. We had to negotiate heavy construction traffic each time we walked down to breakfast
- Hotel Layout: The Deluxe Hotel - Garden view is located quite far away from the amenities. You have to walk across the construction site to get to the swimming pool/reception/restaurant/beach etc.
- No electronic key card available and only 1 is provided.
- No key for safe. We had to walk back to reception to inquire about it. We were then given a key, instead of being given one during check-in.
- Coffee and water in the rooms aren't replenished readily.
- WiFi issue - WiFi is not readily available in the room. You could manage to connect after a number of attempts in the reception area.
- The mattresses were very hard and not comfortable at all.
- There were mosquitoes in the bathroom
- Breakfast: There was terrible service with regards to coffee. The staff, though very friendly, seemed to be chatting amongst themselves rather than walk about serving coffee. I had to help myself, which I didn't really mind doing, but at times there was no coffee in the coffee pots. The continental spread looked really stale and dry.
- Other meals: There was a buffet available with some of the main meals, that was organized as a special event. However, there wasn't much of a spread. Sad looking salad and jacket potato along with the mains. The food on the whole seemed ok.
- There didn't seem to be a restroom near the beach area. If there was one, no one informed us. You had to walk back to the reception area to use the facilities.
- Beach towels aren't available but you do get pool towels
- The hotel is a little bit of a walk away from the main Ao Nang area.
- This resort definitely needs more English speaking staff. You have to make sure you give clear instructions or ask for things specifically. e.g. the key for the safe.
When I was checking out at reception, I was asked to hand over my room key and that was it. Didn't they want to be paid for any meals charged to the room etc? I actually had to ask for the bill to be drawn up. At that point of time they recalled the key for the safe and wouldn't hand over the bill till I handed over the safe key. We then had to request for our luggage to be gotten from our rooms [As the rooms were really very far away, there was no way we could have dragged it without a means of transport][The hotel staff had helped drop the bags in the rooms and very readily helped us again ONCE requested].
All of the above could have been avoided if check-out would have been handled as in other hotels or if the conversation was smooth.
- Transport to the airport is available for 800 baht via the hotel van. You can get a taxi service for 600 baht, however the hotel refused to call us a taxi [Our hotel in Bangkok offered us a choice between their own service and a taxi service]

However, there were a few positives:
- The Ao Nang beach is right in front of the hotel. Its easier to get to the hotel via the beach front rather than the main Ao Nang strip if you are walking about the area.
- As the beach is close by, the walk to the long tail boats is pretty quick. You can catch these boats to go to the nearby beaches of Railey and Hat Tham Phra Nang.
- Excursions and other tour services are provided by a friendly lady at the tour counter. We decided to take only a ferry service to Ko Phi Phi and explore the place ourselves. A ride to the ferry service and back was provided for by the hotel.
- The staff are friendly. When instructions are given clearly or when they are spoken to very clearly, they are ready to help.

Other tips:
- This seemed to be a family friendly resort.
- As construction seems to be ongoing till 2015, it would be better to take up a room in any of the other areas rather than the Deluxe hotel - garden view rooms else you have to cross the construction site.
- If you prefer staying nearer the main Ao Nang area, there are other hotels available which are close to the beach too.
- Given a choice on the whole it is preferable to stay at Railay or Phra Nang as these beaches are cleaner and prettier (However these beaches are secluded and are accessible only via long tail boats). Ko Phi Phi seemed like a better spot to live in
- Check the ferry timings and services - The ferry to Ko Phi Phi leaves in the morning at 9.30 and returns at 3.30 (reaching Ao Nang at 5.30). So you get to be on Ko Phi Phi between 12 and 3, if you return to Ao Nang the same day. It isn't the best time to be at the beach because of the temperature, so it's best to stay at Ko Phi Phi for a day or 2 before catching a boat back.

Room Tip: Don't pick the Deluxe Hotel - Garden View rooms as - there is construction going on a the mome...

This was the most expensive hotel we booked in Thailand and also the most disappointing: The hotel is simply outdated and badly needs a renovation. The bathroom, the beds, the TV, the safe, the windows, practically everything feel as if it was 20 years old.
But worst of all, there was a permanent smell originating from the drains in the bathroom. We complained after the first night with the result that a burning oil lamp was placed in our bathroom. Needless to say, the cause was not removed. We complained again and the oil lamp was removed - that was it. We demanded to speak to the manager, but for some reason she was never available. Unfortunately we had paid in advance (which they urge you to do on their website and now we know why). Finally, on our very last day, the manager came to our breakfast table, offering to waive the fee for the airport shuttle and two drinks. When confronting her with the fact that the previous guests had also complained (by chance, we had seen their feedback form) she admitted that she was aware of the problem. But due to high season she was not prepared do any real repair work since it would mean not being able to let the room while the work was in progress. She also said that it was not in her power to compensate us adequately, but promised to talk to the owner and get back to us via email. Such email never came and when we took the initiative to ask for it we just received a short answer telling us that we would be contacted soon. We are still waiting ...

We had two rooms booked - one was the A1 beachfront bungalow by the restaurant/bar and the other was a garden bungalow. The prior was about $500NZD and the latter about $260NZD.

The garden bungalow was fine - spacious clean and tidy but there were issues with the shower (kept going really hot then really cold and stopped working all together). The resort got it working again but didn't fix the water temp.

The A1 beachfront room was a complete rip off. The only thing it had going for it was it's proximity to the beach but the beach itself is pretty poor by Thailand standards. It has very outdated decor and a really bad touch up paint job.

Wifi connection is very patchy. Virtually unusable.

The beach itself is full of litter. So sad to see such a beautiful place in that state.

The resort won't give you two room keys so you can't have the air con on if you're not in the room. For $500 a night you think they could allow this!

Take a look at L Resort. We went and took a look at it. It's just down the road from Krabi Resort, is much newer, has an excellent restaurant next door and is just across the road from the beach.

Make sure you hire a long boat and get out on the water for a day - the lagoon by Hong Island is sublime.
