“Nice hotel, but a bit overrated.”
Reviewed 1 April 2012

Stayed in December 2011 for a week. In general we liked the hotel. Villas are big and have a touch of luxury. However, the lighting inside is very poor, so if you would like to read in the evening, you better bring a torch with you. Bathroom was big and modern, but watch out for the soap and shampoo bottles. If you break one, it will cost you a fortune and you will be treated like a criminal.
They have a restaurant, but we did not use it for dinner since the food in town is considerably cheaper. The breakfast was very mediocre to say the least. Some days it seemed the food was just leftovers from last night's dinner. If you are looking for full English breakfast you better bring your lunch box with you.
Some of the staff seemed to be really inexperienced and not all of them spoke proper English.
To sum up, if you're looking for a quiet location, you will like the hotel. It is a bit outside town (gratis shuttle every hour) and it has a nice pool from where you have a great cliff view.

Room Tip: If possible, stay away from villa 10 or 11 cause you'll be facing the tool shed of the gardener...

Dear Beloved Guest:

We are very delighted to hear that overall you were happy staying at Aonang Phu Petra Resort.

For your other observations regarding soap and shampoo bottles, breakfast quality, our staff's communication efficiency and the rates. Please let us identify in each areas.

For your first opinion, we actually got numbers of comments regarding the matter. As we ever explained earlier in some certain of our guests' reviews, we think we'd better stop to explain and maybe find other alternatives for our guests. For changes, this might take some times since we need to bring it for a discussion in management meeting. However, please understand us when we charge our guests, we do it properly and honestly. Please do not call it "a criminal" or a "murderer" because it never come to our idea.

In your notice of food quality, it was actually not leftover food from last night but it had to do with its tastes and looks that I already shared with chef for an improvement in this aspect.

As you mentioned about communication skill of our staff. It is true for some of our staff. We actually train them toughly and consistently. Some of them are not the fast learners and need some times to get up to our standard, we truly sorry for such inexperience staff who dealt with you.

For your viewpoint of overrated, please note that the period you stayed was in peak season and please place your trust on us that the rates is competitive to others with the same category of other hotels/resorts.

We thank you very much for taking the time to post your review on Tripadvisor as they enable us to assess our offerings and identify areas of improvement. We promise to climb up, enhance ourselves and continually intiate outstanding and remarkable services to all guests.

Nice, cozy & peaceful place... friendly staff.. especially the guy who did our check-in (i forgot his name but he can speak malay), he have alot of patience entertaining our stupid question heheh. Not forgetting the restaurant staff and their non stop smiley face. It will be nice if they have more tv channels and it will be perfect if the swimming pool close at 10pm.

Dear our lovely guests:

How nice it is to hear that you have a very wonderful stay at Aonang Phu Petra Resort. Your falling in love with our staff's Thai smile and their unique serving characteristic will be definitely passed on to them. They must feel real good in this matter.

For swimming pool closing time, we thank you for your observation and suggestions. Upon our guests' request to extend the using time, we are flexible enough to accomodate a bit of extending time for them. As the policy set up to close the pool at 7.00 pm. due to the factor of its cleaning and clearing system to make it in good shape for the next following day. Hope your kindest understanding in this matter.

Any requests, we are attentively to serve our guests as best as we can.

Thank you for placing your trust on us. Keep on recommending! It is a matter of us to step ahead.

Please come back here in your next returns.

Best regards,

Overall , we are quite satisfied with this resort, really a good place to rest & relax. The room is nice, comfortable and spacious. The staff were nice with smiling face but a bit slow during check in. Breakfast is good. We don't take meat but there were still lots of choices such as deep fried vege, scrumble egg, boiled egg, friend mee, potato, etc. The only thing is you have to take free shuttle bus to the town as it's not a walking distance to the town. Anyway, the shuttle bus service available every 1 hr until 9.30pm, should be more than enough.

Dear our valuable guest:

We are very happy you relaxed at our place. Thank you for all compliments that fill our heart to keep on working. We apologize leaving you waited for a bit longer time during checking in. There are possible two reasons made a checking in process not as fast as our guests' anticipation. One is your room was cleaning as other guests just checked out. Second is there are more than 3 rooms checking in at the same time.

We are sorry for that event but will give it an improvement for the later reason.

Thank you and please come back next time.

Had a wonderfull time there , the place is simple yet has all the luxauary needed .we stayed for 5 days in majestic suite , we got upgraded frm hillside for free , traveled with my 2 yr old son and husband. The place is peacefull and bueatifull. The staff lovely and very child friendly . Only downside was they dont umderstand english much , but made up for it with thier willingnes to help. The best bit was tht the place is exactly like the pictures , very clean . Only downside is tht thier coffee sucks but the food is yummu and u actually dont get ripped off just cause its the hotel restuarant .

Dear our beloved guest:

We are very thank you for many positive comments. For any other downside, we promise to make it serious improvement. I found you were unhappy with two things. For the staff, I accept that some of them may not so professional in English communication made the service become not so expert. I will keep on training my staff to deliver our guest an outstanding service. For coffee that taste bad, I will find out what happened and will fix it immediately to make it back to our restaurant's standard.

Thank you and please come back in your next returns.

Been back a week now and I can say that everything you have read is correct. The staff are great, location is fantastic, rooms are huge.But.The hotel tried to charge me for glass I broke in my room, you would have thought I had committed a murder the way they went on about it.Net curtains into the room were dirty, several dead creatures on the walls and the cleaners having a reluctance to leave soap and toilet paper.Because the hotel and pool area is small it means that should a French family turn up with parents who let their kids make a lot of noise then you can't hide from it.This would be the only reason that I would think twice about going back. For any parents out there reading this take note that the hotel is ideal for a quiet and relaxing holiday and that is the reason for going,if you think your children are lible to make a lot of noise then please don't go.

Dear our beloved Guest:

We are happy you feel satisfied staying with us. On the other hand, we are sorry you feel not so good in some part of your stay. Plase give a room for me to identify one by one.

1. We are sorry that our cleaning standard might not meet your expectation. Please note that I already discussed a matter with Housekeeping team and they will fix it as you suggested. For soap and toilet paper not spare in your room. Please note that they will not put those two in guest rooms should those left for use more than half but you can contact front desk for toiletries 24 hours and they will bring those to you within 5 minutes. I will investigate more for a chance that it might caused by Housekeeper's negligence.

2. For a pool. Our guests can call it is "a small pool" but it "just fit-in" with a small boutique hotel with 25 rooms only. We hope our guests are kind enough to understand this.

3. Our resort is honeymooners and family pleasant resort. We actually separate our family guests who come with kids with honeymooners. To the best that we can, it is not easy to control it up to 100% since we have only 25 units. We are so sorry about this and will try as best as we can to allocate our guests to the best room.

4. We are sorry you left our property with a bitter feeling. Please not call it "a murder", it is not as tough as that word. There are sometimes our guests feel we do unproper manner of showing broken stuffed in front of them and try to charge them. We just ask your understanding that we do not do any "cheating" things. We as a hard working people try to deliver the best service to our guests but we can not all cases absorb costs of broken stuff caused by guests, especially, when we sell a room in a very very special price. However, there are some exceptions that our staff are not allowed to call for a charge from our guests. In that case if they try to charge from our guests, they will be blamed by their supervisor.

We will continue our improvement and development to deliver an excellent Thai hospitality to you and we do hope for your kind understanding of the last matter.

We recently got back from our honeymoon and had such an amazing time at this resort. When we arrived to resort, we were greeted by very friendly and nice staff and given a moist towel and a glass of a delicious juice. The staff were friendly and attentative. Villa is well equipped and comfy bed. The food was exceptional. Breakfast was fresh everyday. Omlettes were made to order. There were enough selection of hot and cold food for you to eat. The location of the resort is great if you want to be away from crowds and noise of Aonang. If you want to travel to aonang for shopping or restaurant, you can take resort shuttles bus hourly. We enjoyed swimming at the tranquil pool, as it was always quiet with enormous mountain of aonang.
Overall, we had wonderful time here. Can't wait to go back to phu petra. We highly recommend this resort and of course you won't disappointed.

Room Tip: Hillside is great

Ao Nang Phu Petra is a little way out from the centre but free shuttle bus runs every hour (though return is not as frequent). Accommodation is in large semi-detached cabins (some detached) with a huge bed and a large bathroom. Beautiful setting. Would stay again. Only downside was the price for the buffet breakfast (412 Bt).

Room Tip: If ibreakfast is not included in your rate try the german beer garden just up the road for breakfast...

Dear our valuable guests:

We are glad that you felt happy with most of the major parts of us. For the downside of breakfast's price, I am sure it is standard price compare to the resort/hotel of the same size and star. However, there is sometimes we reduce the price to guests as our promotion, for you information.

We thank you for your review. What we can do for you to make it an ounstanding service, please let us know. We love to listen to your voice.

Hope for a chance to serve you again in this nearest future!
