“Perfect place to relax and enjoy the stunning views!”
Reviewed 16 February 2011

We booked our room (half of a small house) about two weeks before our arrival with an online travel agency and still got very reasonable prices (less than 100€ per night, incl. breakfast).
Once arrived at Krabi airport the hotel staff already awaited us with a shuttle (600 bath, which was just slightly above normal taxi tarifs). When entering the resort the entire staff was extremely friendly (and the hotel manager spoke good English).
The rooms were really big - we had two beds where one was king-size single and one double in one room - and the bathroom also really big and beautiful.
When seeing the gardens and the mountain in the morning we were really stunned!! A most beautiful and quiet garden area around the ~15 small houses, where every plant has a name sign and the wonderful pool with sufficient space and also beautiful ambience. And behind the area the jungle mountain cliff rises majestically and in the morning you can even hear some apes cry...

The service was perfect - from the management to the pool ladies and restaurant everyone was extremely friendly and smiley - you could see that the work conditions in this resort are alright!

Even for organizing trips or travel the counter helped us to arrange everything on short term - much more secure and less stressy than booking with those guys in downtown ao nang who want to sell their trips by all means...

Overall this week was the most relaxing part of our travel and the Phu Petra resort was the perfect place to stay!!

The owners of this hotel have obviously spent a lot of money on the build and design of this resort with a succesful outcome in the structural appearance. Dissapointingly it is the interior design of the rooms and hotel and which leave much to be desired. For example, the bedrooms although very large have the most terrible lighting and austere finish with very poor uncomfortable beds and couch, the rooms looked dingy and not quite clean. The same austere finish permeates through to the interior of the hotel, there is no sense of luxury about this place, it is just functional with no attention to detail, and no pride given to the cleanliness or presentation of anything. Breakfasts were terrible everything was substandard as if they had bought the cheapest produce possible. The most incredible thing was when I was confronted with a hand towel at reception, they said they couldn't launder it. It had a smear of makeup which if washed properly would have easily been removed. I realise after reading other reviews this has happened before to other guests. All in all a lovely setting spoiled by inattetion to detail.

We thank you for your compliments on our design and structural apperance. Due to our difficulty in searching for professional labour at that moment; we must accept for unprofessionalism in some parts of our service delivered to some of our guests. For the cleanliness, we are sure we give this the top pride to our guests. We accept for not 100% perfection in our service delivered to you at that time. Due to our almost fully booked together with our lacking of staff, we must recruit some newest staff to fulfill the needs of serving to all of our guests.

For terrible lighting made it difficult for reading, we promise to make a change...but please understand us that we can do only during low season due to its recovering of the whole engineering system.

A sense of unluxury and the same austere finish permeates the inteiror of the hotel, franakly, it depends on each of our guests' attitude that more than 80% of our guests have no complaints in this area.

As I found out what really happened upon our guests'checked out procedure, we are sure our staff did not mean to charge the guests; they asked for the source of mark on hand towel for the best way to wash it. As the guests stated this happen to other guests before, please understand that the charges of mark on towels is due to the resort's policy. We are now adjusted that policy as we received the negative feeling from our guests about the matter before.....but please understand we have no intention to insult our guests from asking the source of mark or from the charges on dirty towels.

We believe in our highest honesty, faith and pride we give to all of our guest. In every case when we note the complaints from our guests during their staying in the resort, we are prompt at our fastest manner to solve it except, in some cases, we really have no idea for that the acknowledgement of the problem is declared when guests left the property already.

We do care all of our guests and put our attention in every single detail. Sometimes we can fix it; however, sometimes we do need a time to adjust the things to make it fit for all of our guests' needs. We listen to you.

We try hard to make Aonang Phu Petra Resort a pleasant and relaxing place for our guests. We trained people developed every function continuously to deliver the value experience to all of our guests.

In the end of January 2011 we spent 9 days at this hotel, which was very appropriate for our family. It quite difficult to find accomodation for 6 persons in all Thailand, particularly if three of them are little chaps. We travelled with 3 kids (9-7-2) and the grandy, so we wanted interconnected rooms.
The staff is extraordinarily helpful and nice, the entire hotel area is very clean, and very much prepared for families with little kids. Probably that's why there were so many families around and very little -if any- sex tourists.
Food is quite spicy, even if they say it's not, it is. Rooms are not very well lit, so if you need some extra light, tell the staff, and they will help.
Mosquitos is a problem, so use repellents even in the night.
All in all we found this hotel really great place to stay, very good value for money.

We stayed a Phu Petra resort for 11 days and had a wonderful stay. It is a cosy and tranquil place to stay while busy Ao Nang is only a few away with the complementary shuttle bus that leaves every hour.

The rooms are beautifully styled, especially the bath rooms, and are set in beautiful surroundings ( gardens and cliffs).

What made our stay so special is the warm and welcoming staff . Their personal attention really made us feel at home.

The food is reasonably priced and the quality

Our kids (aged 2 and 4) also had a great time thanks to the nice swimming pool and play
ground.
We certainly recommend this resort.

Phu Petra resort is a little gem just outside Aonang's busy and cheapy tourist streets. We stayed in this quiet and peaceful place with four adults and a baby, and had a very pleasant time.
The resort is rather small, with about 25 chalets, but it's very comfortable. It's got a great poolside (with shallow pool for kids), a very well kept lush garden, and a splendid view towards the limestone rocks at the backside of the resort.
The food quality is good. Asian and Western style breakfast is served. There's free wifi connectivity and two pc's in the lobby which are free to use. For kids there's a small playground with play equipment.
During the day there's a free shuttle service leaving every hour from the resort to town. The return trip is every two hours.
I could definitely recommend the hot stone body massage; we did it twice and it was great!
The staff at Phu Petra is very nice, helpful and attentive. They helped us with the booking of a rental car a.o. and were very keen on keeping their clients satisfied, without being 'all over you'.

We are a married couple in our late 20's with no kids. This was part of our Honeymoon trip and we were looking forward to a chilled out 6 nights at the Phu Petra after a hectic and fun few weeks racing round Thailand. We stayed in Jan 2011.

We arrived and were met by a friendly member of staff who checked us in and showed us to our rooms. We stayed in a bungalow facing the cliffs toasted the back of the complex. The setting is beautiful.

Our room was very big with 2 huge beds and a huge bathroom which was decorated to a good standard and all looked very nice. It had a new tv, DVD, fridge etc - everything we needed and more.

We then went for a relax and swim in the pool which was great. The pool is small but perfectly formed. The first night we decided to eat at the hotel. The food was overpriced and very average. We were the only ones eating there which should have told us something and this made for a strange atmosphere.

Most of the staff throughout our stay were very helpful and would do their best to satisfy your needs. I feel ODI deserves a special mention. He was particularly kind and good at his job.

The other nights we got the free shuttle bus into town which worked well. If your out later than 09-20 which we always were you will have to get a tuk tuk at 100 baht. It's probably a tad to far to walk. We did once and it took about 20 minutes. We ate a couple of times at Del Rocks which was brilliant and spent most of our time at the Happy Hour street bar where we met some great people and laughed to the small hours.
The spa in the hotel is expensive and no better than elsewhere.

We very much enjoyed the rest of our stay but did have a couple of issues which were dealt with terribly by the staff.

On the 3rd day our bathroom began to smell terribly of raw sewage which really was unpleasant. The bathroom was a no go area and the smell emulated into our bedroom. There were also hundreds if ants in our bedroom and bed!!! I reported this to a member of staff who said he would tell the manager. The next morning nothing was said to us. We out for the day and returned in the afternoon. I told another member of staff who said they would look into the matter. We went back to our room and it smelled as though someone had sprayed air freshner. They fixed the issue for no more than a few minutes!!! Nobody came to speak to me and tell me what they had or hadn't done or offer us an alternative room. Were not fussy people and don't have children so just got on with it spending as little time possible in our room to avoid the revolting stench.

Come check out, the member of staff attempted to bill us 300 baht for 3 flannels which they said were spoiled. He showed us the offending items which had a tiny mark of my wides make up on! They needed nothing more than a good wash! I told him we didn't agree and wouldn't be paying! Especially given we'd just spent three days in a room that stunk of human waste!!! Not what you expect from an expensive hotel.

Terrible way to treat your customers and left us with a very bitter taste in our mouths as we left. Enough to make us not to want to return. Which is a shame because it was a nice place.

First of all, let me thank you for your feedback in tripadvisor. We are so appreciated for the chance you give us to serve you. Please be noted that we already took your every comment into discussion in a team member.

My apology for an ignorance of your first report to one of our staff regarding ants on the bed and bad smell in your bathroom. I found out that he forgot to inform to his manager. The second time, you reported the same to FO manager which I appeared to be around. It then was promptly passed on to our housekeeping and engineering department. Head of Housekeeper together with Chief Engineer rushed into your room and fixed it by not only spraying air freshener to your room but also putting the EM into sewage system to make the bad smell gone. At the time both of them came into your room, they found no ants anymore. I'm so sorry not informing this to you...We will not make any excuse for that but only accept the mistake we did and we promise to improve it to be better.

Deeply sorry for the day you checked out that you were told to bill at 300 Baht for 3 flannels...Since we did according to the resort's policy so I assume our GSA told you of charging because they are afraid of penalty if they skip their fully duty. I'm sorry if our GSA might in case said something impolite to you. We, of course, take this into serious consideration and will bring it up again as a very top issue in our next meeting...

Other comments, without our ignorance, we also concentrate to revise to make it the best for all of our guests.

I write this email to say how sorry I & other team members are of making your days with us not fully happy. We will adjust, make some changes and develop to make the greatest service in the future.

One promise is we will try hard to make Aonang Phu Petra Resort a pleasing place where value experience delivering.
