“Good & Friendly staffs, but worst management”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

Bad Points
- Very poor mangement : We checked in at 5:00 PM and staff bring us to the room but the room is not ready for us + we try to book a spa room but it's full all day + we want to get our white wine specified in our package, they said we have to wait, they have only red wine...
- Poor location : A car or bike is needed for traveling around
- Vary simple food : All are plain vanilla and not a seafood

Good Points:
- Good Staffs : They are vary friendly
- Great Room : The room (private pool villa) is big, comfort, vary functional and well designed and decorated

Recomendation:
- If you have a car, you can put this hotel in your consideration
- If you want to have a pool party with group of friends, private pool villa of this hotel is perfect
- If you want good room and are patient enough for bad management, this hotel is find for you

**if you are none of the cases above, I recommend to find the another place**

Booked this place because it was the least expensive 4 star hotel in Krabi.

LOCATION: Inland, not convenient to Ao Nang, you will need a car or bike.

GROUNDS: Islam area, sparse construction feels like the Middle East.

AMENITIES: Ok gym, but hot as the desert. Internet doesn't work anywhere except the lobby, you will need your own computer. Nice pool.

ROOM: Clean with great views of Krabi jungle. Cheap 90's mod decor not our thing though.

FOOD: Awful. Run and hide.

STAFF: English is spotty, they took over an hour to check us in, sent us to the wrong room, and took another hour to check us into the correct room. Offered us a $10 upgrade as compensation. This place is cheap and could use some more class.

Room Tip: try to get a room as high up as possible...the views are grand. If you can spend a bit more, the po...

My wife and I spent two nights in this hotel... April 24th & 25th, 2014. It was a most unpleasant experience. Check in and out were difficult, our bed was so hard it was like sleeping on the floor, the restaurant food was horrible and you had to fight the flies for your food, we were on the 8th floor and the elevator only goes to the 7th floor, so you must climb up the last floor... with your luggage, because there was no bellhop. There are no lights in the stairwell at night and it is dangerous trying to get your luggage down the stairs in the dark if you have an early flight like we did. There is practically no water pressure in the bathrooms making it virtually impossible to take a shower and it takes 30 minutes for the water to warm up with such low pressure. There was a "kitchen" in our room, but there were no dishes or glasses and not even a coffee pot, so it was useless. No safe in the room. On our second day, there was a power outage that lasted for hours and we could not get to our room without climbing 8 sets of stairs. Even if we had climbed up to our room, there would have been no lights or air conditioning. We had to call the desk to have our room cleaned after waiting all day for them to do it on their own. The "spa" and pool are old and in need or repair. The pool jets don't work and the tile is falling off of the seats. There are no towels at the pool, so you have to bring towels with you if you want to go for a swim. The hotel is located a long way from anywhere you might want to go such as the beach, shopping and restaurants. They have a "shuttle service" to town if you don't mind climbing into the bed of a pickup truck. I don't know how they got a 4 star rating. We travel extensively and this is one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. Please avoid this place. Our "room" had two beds and they told us we had to pay extra if we didn't want them to put another family in the second bed. I had never heard of anything like that before. We paid the extra fee to ensure our privacy, but I will never go near this place again.

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel if you want decent room.

I dont usually give bad reviews, but had to warn people that if youve booked a normal double room, you wont see anything like the photos that are posted here. You will live in an horrible looking block of flats (Ive attached a photo) that will have awful sewage smell. Sure the room inside looks decent, but the pool that comes with the double room is tiny and not very nice, the hotel in general is too far away from town (youll spend more on tuk tuks), and they had no fruit for breakfast! If you get a private villa Im sure it will be nice, but still too far away in my opinion.

Room Tip: If you really want to stay here, get a private villa, but still not worth the price

Hi I have stayed at this resort a couple of times, when it first opened it was lovely, clean and friendly helpful staff. Second time was not so well maintained and the staff were rude and the head of house keeping needed the sack.
However, I have just come back from a 2 week stay and it has improved again, cleaner ,staff could not do enough for you. There is transport to the heart of Aonang which is 5 minutes away every hour, but if you wanted to go somewhere in-between they were more than helpful to take you. Pools were well maintained.
I would stay here again.

Room Tip: we stayed in the building across from reception on a high floor with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with...

Contrary to the other negative reviews, I am giving Mandawee a "Very Good" rating because I had a fabulous time in Krabi (with the help of the staff) and in the 3-bedroom pool villa.

The villa is great, not dirty or infested with any kind of insects. Overall design of villa is a beautiful representation of Thailand's culture and exude a very homely feeling.

The kitchen is equipped with electric kettle and microwave. A pity that we were not allowed to use stove. Besides that the kitchen is clean and big enough for a setting of 6 pax.

Although the fountain feature at the pool was not working, it was absolutely fine for us. Apart from the moss on the walls that divide the villa from its neighbour, the pool itself was perfectly clean and well-maintained. The jacuzzi corner was a fantastic addition to the pool.

The rooms were spacious, with comfortable bed and air-conditioning. Although we would have appreciated international/cable channels, we didn't complain as we rented DVDs from the convenience store at the lobby. Plus most of the time we were not glued to the television.

The bathrooms were tastefully designed with simple, yet pretty floor and wall tilings. There was even enough space for a dresser and closet.

Our overall experience was made even more pleasant by the excellent customer service from the staff. Besides prompt room service, the staff were very helpful in recommending places to go in Krabi. They did not hard-sell any activities although the sales/promotion displays were everywhere at the lobby.

Extra tips for first-times to Krabi:
Krabi is a little town that still shies away from the hustle and bustle of tourism of other islands like Phuket and Koh Samui. It is not congested and the locals are very friendly and do not follow you around when you're shopping in their stores. The town comes alive at night and there is only one stretch of road beside Nopparatthara and Ao Nang beach (10 minutes away from Mandawee).
For an authentic on-the-ground experience of the island, rent a motorbike (less than SGD8 per day at Mandawee) to travel around Krabi. The roads are safe and well maintained. Take a ride through the villages and appreciate the slow pace of life. Or you can ride up to Krabi town for its night market where delicious food and plenty of shopping awaits. It takes less than half hour to ride up to Krabi town from Mandawee.

Room Tip: Upon arrival, check every little corner of the villa as the staff shows you around. If there is any...

We stayed here for two nights in a Villa. At first glance it appeared quite spacious and traditional inside however on closer inspection it became very obvious that there is very little attention given to maintainence, cleaning and customer service at this hotel.
The cupboards in the kitchen had a thick layer of dust and dead bugs on the shelves and there were broken hinges on doors.
The sheets on the bed were not clean and the towels were very old and worn out.
The private pool was a highlight in the villa however there were missing tiles which made it look drab and unsafe. The water feature didn't work and 4 of the pool lights were broken.
The wifi was expensive and should be FREE in a 4 star hotel.
There were cockroaches, millipedes and spiders throughout the villa.
The shower rose was broken and sprayed up to the roof. The shower looked as though it had never been cleaned. Staff were made aware of this issue but made no attempt to fix or repair it.
Taps in the basin were lose.
The roof was leaking and the ceiling was starting to collapse in the bedroom from water damage.
Breakfast was very limited and of low quality for a so called 4 star hotel. There were 4 staff standing and staring at us while we ate. The staff seemed to be untrained and didn't understand basic English and got out orders wrong every time. It was a quite time when we were visiting, I would hate to see what it is like in peak season. The buffet is outside the restaurant in the heat.
This hotel has potential to be very good however they really need to lift their game considerably on many levels! It's criminal to charge the prices they do for what the customer is currently provided. Very disappointed. We will NOT be back.
