“Wish we stayed longer”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014 via mobile

I have nothing bad to say about this place. For the money we paid it went above and beyond what we expected.

We got the cheapest room, it's just a place to sleep while you explore, but it had everything we needed - a safe, wifi, warm shower and breakfast was included at their restaurant.

Amenities wise they can get you scooters, onward transport, and their restaurant food wasn't bad. The staff were really friendly and very helpful.

They also have a free shuttle that will run you in and out of town on the hour, which is helpful because there location is a little out the way. It's walkable but not desireable. They will also shuttle you to your transport hub for free when its time to leave; in our case Krabbi ferry terminal.

The best thing about this place, however, is its surroundings, which is why I've given it 5 stars. The backdrop is spectacular, and while the pool isn't huge, if you get it to yourself, you truly feel like you're in paradise.
The resort is in amongst the trees and we often saw monkeys. The cliffs the dominate the backdrop are spectacular and if I ever comeback to Aonang this definitely the only place I'd stay.

Really cute bungalows, not the largest but we had plenty of space for all of our things. We stayed in the basic fan room and ground the fan did a more than adequate job of ensuring we had a good sleep. The pool is gorgeous, even when we were struck but a sudden torrential downpour! The breakfast buffet is decent enough, but the food in the evening (especially the panang shrimp and the chicken red curry) was delicious and surprising cheap for a hotel! One small irritation was the noise of the chickens/roosters crowing at all hours of the day and night, but it did kind of fit in with the rural feel of the place. A short way out of town but an hourly shuttle means there's no real issue. One tip I'd have is to get the free shuttle to the market on a Monday, Tuesday or Friday... It leaves at 4pm ish and you have to let reception know 2 hours before...it's a real locals market (we were the only white people there) and a lot cheaper than anywhere in town for food and other bits and pieces.

We loved staying at the Cliff View Resort. It is a little bit out of town, but they provide a free ride into town every hour, and it's nice to feel a bit more secluded with the fantastic scenery surrounding you. The bungalows are beautiful and private, and I can't say enough about how gorgeous the swimming pool is! If you go early to the pool, some little bugs like to make a home there, but they were on top of cleaning it every day. Breakfast was delicious with a nice mix of Thai and western foods, and the staff was incredibly helpful in every way.

"Cliff View" literally means a view looking up at a cliff (not a view of the ocean), but in this case the cliff is actually really cool. The best view is from the hotel pool.

The price seems a little high for what you're getting, but breakfast is included, it's a 5-minute walk to the main street and it was quiet (I didn't hear any animals from inside the room with the windows closed and aircon on).

The grounds overall need some maintenance. We also had ravenous tiny ants that we found in the bed and in the bathroom. I hate ants, so that was not so cool.

I laughed when I read other reviews about the angry shuttle driver. I saw two shuttle drivers. One guy was fine, although he smoked during the drive which meant I had to breath his leftovers. The other guy must be the angry one - he yelled at us for not being in the correct pickup location and repeated himself 3 times to make sure we didn't make the same mistake...which was completely useless since we weren't going to use the shuttle again anyway. It was so uncharacteristic of Thai people (who are generally non-confrontational) that we just shrugged our shoulders and laughed at his Scrooge-like attitude. Poor little guy.

If you're a cat person, there are 3 kitties who will accept your love offerings with some gratitude, so that was fun.

First I would like to talk about the driver.

Before staying here i had already heard about this famous rude driver that drops you every hour in the center. I thought that with all the bad comments he would have changed his attitude or they would not let him drive, but no! He is still there stronger than ever in his rudness and I believe hatred to all the tourists (espicially white folks I think). Not only is he rude but he is also a bad driver (too fast) one time I really found it dangerous!!
I find it such a shame because the place is simply great, the location is amazing, the pool beautiful, the included breakfast is a lovely buffet, all the staff is very polite, kind and helpful (despite maybe one grumpy girl working in the kitcHen who does not answer when you greet her).

I didn't want to bring the rate on trip advisor down, but I really hope they will do something about that driver!!

we had a fan bungalow for 1 night, it was literally a old garden shed with a toilet. i have stayed in a lot of bamboo bungalows in thailand and this was by far the most basic. it was 1000baht for a night which for what you get 4 times more than you should pay. the safe which is the only thing in the room apart from a mattress did not work.
you have to spend as much time as possible out of the complex and just come back to sleep.
pool was quite nice though but is starting to get tired.
gym is useless and no air con.
do yourself a favour and don't stay here.

Room Tip: look elsewhere

It is strategically places and the room which I had an amazing Ocean View.
The room was simply beautiful and service was very nice.
The bath tub is placed outside in the balcony which is good but invades privacy. They should put in place some mat kind of curtain.
The pool is fantastic and very well maintained.
I have to agree with other guests regarding breakfast. It seems repetitive and is not quite wide spread. They should include more varieties for vegetarians.
Also the lift used to constantly stink with food smell.
They should include more charging adapters for the guests. I was given an almost broken one and when asked for a different one , was plainly refused !

Overall I would recommend this place and would like to stay again here.
