Short but sweet stay

Review of Harvest House
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 20 Oct 2012
My sister and I only stayed here one evening before going back to Bangkok after going to Railay and Phi Phi. However we couldn't fault our stay here. It was a very clean b&b, a comfortable stay, the staff were excellent, so helpful and friendly, they booked us on the airport transfer bus and even chased after our bus when we nearly missed it. The ladies on reception let us use their main shower after a day on the beach as we had already checked out of the room. The hotel was about a 15 minute walk to the beach front, but this didn't bother us. The hotel let us use their umbrellas when it rained one morning. For us, this was great for our stopover in Ao Nang, very good value for money. If my holiday was based around Ao Nang then I would probably look for a hotel, but for young travellers (early and mid 20s) like us it was more then perfect.

We booked seven nights here and then ended up staying 11 nights here. It is about a 15 minute walk from the beach, but we did not mind this. The hotel provides mats that can be used at the beach.

The room was lovely and very spacious and well cleaned each day. Bathroom was nice, modern and clean. Staff were also friendly.

Stayed here for an extended weekend to do a dive course at nearby Aqua Vision (which I highly recommend), this guesthouse is in the middle of a building that compromises three different but pretty much the same hotels - Pranang Flora House, Harvest House, and Aonang Goodwill. I have now stayed at all three and whichever one you choose, you will not be let down as I believe they are all owned by the same owners because there isn't much difference between any of them.

Located about a 10-15 minute walk from the beach depending on age, it's a bit far but not necessarily a bad thing since the closer you get to the main street the brighter and noisier it gets. There is a mosque nearby but it never woke me. There is a KTB bank onsite which is very handy if you need an ATM.

The rooms are generously sized, free and fast wifi, air con worked well, TV had a good selection of English and other falang language stations, bathroom was clean and adequate, balcony was narrow but would be useful for smokers or a place to dry your clothes. The rooms at the back are quieter but have no view of anything but trees and leaves, the rooms at the front have a view of the street but you gain a small amount of traffic noise. The only letdown of the place, and only reason I gave it 4 dots instead of 5 was my queen/king sized bed was two single beds pushed together. Not a big deal, but if you want to lay in the middle of the bed it is quite uncomfortable. If you are asleep and roll over onto the middle, it's annoying. I assume every room is like this so they can be converted to one bed or two. This wasn't an issue at the other two aforementioned guesthouses.

They offer breakfast for an extra 210 baht which I didn't partake, but since there is a huge variety of places to eat nearby and further down the street, you might as well use that large sum of money to get exactly what you want. There's no pool or gym, if you want to swim head to the beach, and if you want a workout go for a jog, you won't be the only one out running at any given time. They can do your laundry for 40 baht a kilogram, delivered to your room the next day. The staff were very helpful and friendly, they can also assist you in booking activities, local transportation and onward transportation and accommodation.

In my personal experiences, I had 5 star stays at the Pranang Flora House and Aonang Goodwill (read my reviews if you'd like) so I'd recommend them over the Harvest House, but you can't go wrong with any of 'em. Recommended for all ages and budgets.

Room tip: If you stay here and want one bed, request that the room have a real queen/king sized bed and not two single beds pushed together. Rooms at the front of the building have a view and more sunshine.

I stayed at Harvest House for 9 nights - it's called a bed and breakfast, but the rooms have 4 star quality. They are large, all with balcony, very comfortable beds and rooms are cleaned perfectly every day. I did not have breakfast here actually since i'm a long sleeper, so went to Massaman right after 7/11 which has good breakfasts. The walk to the beach, maximum 10 minutes, is quiet nice since you pass all the shops/restaurants (Tonsai is authentic thai and good - not a pretty restaurant , but good quality food for low prices)

The girls at reception are very friendly and helpfull, so i booked all my trips with team - kayaking, elephant riding and Phi Phi Islands - all very reasonable priced and of great quality. A big thank you, since they made my stay most enjoyable !

About Ao Nang - this is a touristy place with massage salons, souvernir shops and bars/restaurants. Not the best of places, but certainly a great hub to go and visit many of the islands close to Ao Nang. Do not miss Poda Island, and get there early in the morning with a taxi boat from Ao Nang beach (300 bhat return) around 09.00 AM - amazing clear blue water beaches and a bar where you can get drinks and some food. I loved it there, and great place to take amazing pictures. But go early !!

Thank you Harvest House staff - I will think back with great memories, thanks to you !

Very good place with clean and comfortable room. Staffs are very nice and helpful. A bit far from the beach, about ten minutes walk. This is the best place for this price.

Lovely small hotel, ( Bed & Breakfast) with very friendly staff. We have been travelling around Thailand for the the past 6 weeks, staying in 4&5* hotels, we decided to book into Harvest Hotel in krabi, as we were only staying 5 days and the reviews on Trip Advisor were really good. Well I can say that the room was fab, quite large, huge comfy beds, TV with 50 channels, great Air Con, patio door onto a small balcony. Free high speed Wi Fi in your room Great!! I can honestly say for what we paid for the room we were delighted... £30.00 per night, and these rooms were far better than what we paid for 4* hotels. Great value for money.
One of the things i missed here was my cup of coffee when i get up in the morning, but hey no problem they let us us our own water heater which i bought for £3.00 in the market, i do think it would be even better if the hotel provided facilities to make your own tea & Coffee. ( But thats just me). The staff especially Dao ( if thats how you spell it).are extremely helpful, helped us with booking trips, and transport and boat tickets when leaving. It really was like Home from Home!! If you are travelling through Krabi and not worried that the hotel has not got a swimming pool, then stay here you wont be disappointed. It is situated on the main road into Ao Nong, about 10 mins walk to a beautiful beach, or 1.00 in a taxi.
