Ok.... first off, this place is not very expensive, so don't expect a lot. It's basic. It has a very small pool. But calling this place a resort is stretching it. The rooms were clean enough but attention to detail was lacking. The room we stayed in was a cabin like room (shared one wall with another cabin like room). The bathroom was .... interesting. It was a cement room down three steep steps that was part open air (up high). It had nice tile on the floor, a cute planter with local plants and good hot water for the shower but the skylight shed roof made it a sauna during the day. And at night, it was a bit treacherous negotiating those steps.
The biggest thing wrong with this hotel is that it's too far away from the beach and the town.
The best part of this hotel is the staff that tries to help and sometimes is able to give you a ride to the beach area. I'll sum things up by saying that I'll probably not stay there again..... and my standards are not all that high.

Room Tip: do not let them place you in the Happiness Resort. It's even farther away from the beach and p...

place was really good, free tuk tuk into town , good food altho limited menu but by no means did that take anything away from our stay. 5 mins from the beach and there was also a pool in the centre, the man and his sister who own it were extremly nice to us and made us feel welcome i didnt want to leave, highly reccomended

This hotel is not in Ao Nang itself, but about a 10 minute walk from Nopparathara beach, alone by itself. Which means it is nice and quiet. On the other hand it is far from all the amenities. The hotel does provide a free lift to your destination of choice in Ao Nang. Still, this means you will have to plan ahead a little.

Rooms are large, AC works, hot water is adequate. All in all a good place to stay, if you're looking for a quiet hotel.

Summary - good choice if you want to be in a quiter place and don't mind walking.

This is a small hotel, away from the tourist hustle and bustle, which is a large plus. Naturally this means you need to travel more, to get to interesting places. Still, it is about 10 minutes on foot from Nopparat Thara beach and about the same tuk-tuk ride away from Ao-Nang beach. The hotel has a free shuttle service into Ao-Nang, on the way back, it will cost you 50 Baht per person.

The bungalows are spacious, more than enough room for two/three people. There is an "open-air" bathroom (meaning it has a roof and walls, but it is not totally enclosed and it is not airconditioned) which very interestingly can be accessed by a small flight of stairs, that start immediately at the door. This is a very, very stupid idea, a.) if the door is all the way open you can't close it, unless you go down the steps, b.) difficult to navigate groggy from sleep at night when you need to go (don't even want to think about how you could make it after a stiff night out...). Opt for a bungalow with only one room, otherwise you'll be hearing everything (and I mean EVERYTHING - joined open-air bathrooms, I think you get the picture) that your neighbour is doing.

The staff is OK, we didn't have too much interaction with them, so I really can't comment. The price we paid was decent, taking into account that we were there in the total, abosulte high season.

The pool is a joke, it is just marginally bigger than a large bathtub. What's more, someone had the terrible idea of lining it with green tiles, so it permanently looks overgrown with algae. NOT inviting at all. That said, we saw many guests in the water (not ourselves though)

Important note: The tide is very pronounced in Ao Nang, at low tide, you will be walking hundreds of feet to get into the water at Ao Nang beach, and there is no possibility to swim at all at Nopparat Thara beach. Great to walk in the tidal flat though!!!

Room Tip: Definitely go for a stand-alone room

Ao Nang itself is too busy and congested so it was a stroke of luck to stay here. Better beach, better eating (Thai style, not Euro) and this resort has a good feel about it, largely imbued by its owner Jo E and his happy staff. Would book again.

The review saying this place is dirty and that there are bugs in his room probably hasn't been to many truly Asian resorts/hotels. If you want a Hilton or American Holiday Inn you can have it, at Farang (foreigner) prices- run by Farang for Farang. But to live like the locals, yet several levels up in cleanliness and comfort, find the resorts that are 1000 baht/night with attentive owners. This is one of those places. The owner picked us up from the airport (a 2000-3000 baht taxi ride), gave us rides many times during our stay, and drove us to the bus station, all for free. He spoke English and helped us find good activities and tours that wouldn't give the typical Farang, tourist hype and experience.
The little huts you stay in are Asian- the bathroom is basically a huge shower with a toilet in one corner and has open venting construction (not climate controlled). Geckos and bugs may be around but not often. It is very clean and safe, though not Western. The big main room is air-conditioned, spacious, and clean. Ants and geckos are quiet normal because of the typical gap under the front door. Just keep food in a container and enjoy the experience. Or go pay ten times as much and get a western hotel.
Bottom line- You may not want the more authentic Asian experience and that is fine, but don't expect to pay $25-$30USD/night and get it. This resort is well-run and extravagant by Thai standards. It's peaceful, clean, and a good value for the money.

We have been traveling around Thailand using TripAdvisor for information. Up until this place all the places we had stayed had been better than expected or reviewed.
Right from start we were concerned. Turned the corner off the main road and there was rubbish everywhere, front staff were poorly dressed and not overly friendly as we had been used to here in Thailand. The place is falling down. The bridge over a small creek had a few planks thrown on to hide the holes. The pool was green. The room was full of mosquitoes due to big gaps around the windows and sagging window panes. The bathroom stunk of urine. It got worse though, there was blood on the pillow cases and grubs that looked very much like maggots under the pillow..

We ended up not staying and moving to another hotel. Luckily we had booked through Agoda and they helped get most of our money back.

Room Tip: Dear tripadvisor. This is a very harsh review and I understand if it can't be published or need...
