I stayed at this property for two weeks in June 2018 with my fiancé and some family members from both sides (8 people in total, including a couple of kids). This propert has been finished to a high standard and offers all the amenities you could possibly want. We were a bit surprised there was no clothes washing machine, but our host explained that washing your clothes is an unnecessary chore in Thailand, where there is a very cheap laundry shop on almost every street. We didn’t miss doing our own clothes washing at all. My fiance’s mum washed some of our smalls by hand in a sink and dried them on the drying rack provided, the rest of us didn’t bother. Similarly, there was no dish washing machine, which seemed like an oversight until our host explained that the maid comes and does the washing up every second day. There is second, semi-outdoor kitchen, where we stacked up the dirty dishes out of sight, so we didn’t have to do any dish-washing and we didn’t have to look at piles of dirty dishes in the indoor kitchen sink either – perfect.
The maid kept everywhere spotlessly clean and was discreet. The villa appears to have been recently refurbished, everything was in great condition. The outside area comprises a small garden with outside shower … there are 4 showers in all at the villa, which seemed a bit over the top, we didn’t use one of them at all. The villa is in a lockable compound with a gate for peace of mind.
There is lots to do in the area with the beach just 3 minutes away by motorbike and Railay just round the corner, plus all the attractions of Krabi Town near enough to easily get to by private minivan, which we organized with the host’s friend’s travel agency after taking on board his advice about what would be best for our group. We settled on one trip to the Krabi night market, with the Huay Tho waterfall and an elephant trek beforehand. The ele trek was through proper jungle, unlike the ele treks nearer Ao Nang.
The host Simon has a wealth of experience of the area having lived there for over a decade, especially with regards to outdoor sports like kayaking and climbing. He took a few of us us on a familiarization run
around Ao nang shortly after arrival, pointing out the best places for a massage, an Italian etc. He was available on the phone all the time.
Very clean and well-maintained. Well-located, quiet. Surrounded by greenery but still 5 minutes from the commodities and the beach.
Spacious, liked the specifications and amenities, liked the green organic feeling, especially when being modern and relatively easy to keep clean
Didn’t use sandpit because our children are a bit too old, but they loved the egg swing, the hammock, the normal swing like the kind you find in city kids’ parks. The pool is great, big enough but not too overwhelming for children.
The villa enjoys peace and quiet as well as perfect privacy, nobody can see in at all. We started calling it the Naked Villa as we didn't have to bother putting clothes on. The host was very welcoming and bought us a beer while describing the local attractions. There were only 2 of us staying, though the place is big enough for lots more. The reason we booked a villa too big for us was the privacy benefit, as we had stayed here before and had dreamed of just the two of us enjoying the privacy in private, very romantic and lots of fun to frolic in the pool with nobody to inhibit our fun and games. Highly recommended for couples provided you don't mind paying for a place with bedroom you don't need. The price seemed very reasonable to me.
Despite all the positive comments, sadly, this villa has been a major disappointment. It is unbelievably dirty (mice-infested; stained bedsheets; urine smell; no toilet paper - seriously??) and not maintained (lots of equipments are either broken or in serious need of upgrade, sometimes even causing a safety hazard).
Our stay was made bearable by the hard work of the cleaning lady who did her best in this context. Note that the rental only includes cleaning every other day - we asked her to come every day and paid for it.
Really below the standards of Thailand hospitality, for such a villa who must have been beautiful and has an excellent location.
My family stayed here over Xmas for two weeks. 6 adults and 2 children.
Location - Car or scooter required which is very easy and reasonable to hire. The taxi service (recommended by Simon) is very reliable and reasonably priced for a large family.
The Villa - The villa (particularly the kitchen including the crockery & cutlery) and garden could do with some routine maintenance. The pool is good and the children & adults had great fun in it. It was reasonably clean and the maid service every second day was adequate.
I would like to first thank Simon for his kindness and for taking care of us like we were his family members. His place is ideal for families that want to enjoy the nice place ao nang is (and the surrounding) and at the same time enjoy some privacy.
The villa is very close to Nopparat thara beach and ao nang downtown (less than 2 km for both). The villa is composed of 3 nice bedrooms with all the necessary like in a 4 star hotel with a Swimming pool and a nice green garden with some relaxing area to enjoy the peacefulness of the place. We were staying in a 4 star hotel in Koh Lanta just before moving to his place and I can tell you that the quality is the samewithout the crowd!
On Top of that Simon is always willing to give you the best advice to make your stay perfect and enjoy the place he knows for more than 10 years now.
Keep this place as nice as it is, I can't wait to come back there with my family again.
Meeting up with my family from Hong Kong was a triumph at Villa Alice. Lovely spacious house, perfect garden and pool and quiet location. Easy to get Tuk-Tuks or taxis to end of lane ( 50 metres from house) from Ao Nang or Nopparat Thara Beach.
Vibrant Wednesday market within easy walking distance and plenty of really good restaurants if you want to stay local and eat Thai food.
The kitchen needs up dating and so does the bed linen, but apart from that I would not hesitate to go back.
