I haven't once reviewed any sort of accommodation before today, but never have I felt more compelled to do so than in the case of Baan Suan resort.
Let me begin by stating that the majority of you will find yourself here after falling victim to one of the packages, aka scams, provided by the numerous tourist agencies throughout Bangkok. Therefore it will most likely be too late for you.
However if you are considering going to the Krabi region, note that it is a far more relaxed environment, compared to other parts of Thailand. Upon arriving at the resort, you may first realise that not only is it not a thriving area, the resort itself is a long way away from anything remotely interesting such as Ao Nang beach itself. Something that the resort uses in it's actual title.
Now that you're settled in a remote, and quite frankly lonely environment, prepare to be harassed in a way you've never been before. These people will not stop until they've clawed every last baht out of your savaged wallet or purse. They are truly unrelenting. The newly coined phrase "Aye you want some food man," is a phrase that I will never be able to forget. The "restaurant area" (which also happens to be the only place with accessible wifi or where you can sit down outside your room) is overstaffed by up to around 6 teenagers at a time, each of whom will individually hassle you into getting food every time you sit down. They will all do this on multiple occasions, and when they're not asking, they're watching.
But this harassment doesn't come close to what I experienced with the grotesque, obnoxious and arrogant owner. This man will strut around this penned in money farm, in only a towel and flip flops, and at whatever time he chooses. Not once will he smile. But what he will do is ask what you're doing the following day, and then precede to shout out suggestions, followed by enlarged prices (like his belly) that's he's thought of off the top of his head.
Avoid this at all costs.
