For a relatively pricey hotel, the location was not too bad about 15/20 min walk from where we would like to be.
However, the lizards covered the hotel, all along the corridor and lobby and restaurant we would spot a number of lizards. On average from entrance to our room I'd say on a normal evening probably expect to count 15 lizards, and the staff did not seem too concerened.
On arrival saw a cocroach which was ignored and left to walk the middle of the lobby, not what I expect, with no bell boy to help with luggage.
English speaking staff are very limited, expect a nod with a yes and a smile to 99% of questions you ask, or any conversation.

The plus side was that the room itself was decent and clean, and the pool (never lit up during evenings as pictures suggest) was OK at best.

Would not recommend this hotel.

Stayed on 29/7/14 to 1/8/14. Really nice to have a sit down check with a welcome drink instead of normal check in. Resort lay out is pleasant and nicely decorated with different elements. However, our room was quite a distance from reception area. Pool is awesome.
Service shortfall was when we asked if our sent items were kept with reception, they claimed nothing. We had to make our way back to the shop just to be assure whether they had sent it to our Hotel. Clearly, they had sent it the night before. They had to call the reception to clarify the matter.

In-line with some other reviews, when booking this hotel you should keep in mind that this hotel is extremely noisy from 6:00am to 11:00pm. If it's not kids yelling in the pool - it's there parents or the 4-5 bus loads of tourist who arrive at around 8-9:00pm and then have nothing else to do then jumping in the pool and shouting ... This is all due to the strange layout of the hotel having the pool directly surrounded by all the rooms and there is no escape from the noise, as you will not find any quite corner. The management doesn't seem to care however and the hotel is standard Mercure but nothing remotely resembles of any Thai architectural features. So if you have kids and usually shout at them all day but are looking for a clean hotel, this might be the place to go. All other travelers, i wouldn't recommend to stay here ....

We recently stayed at the Mercure Krabi for 8 days. We loved it! Our highlight was staying in a pool access room in block 4. The luxury of jumping straight into the beautiful pool and being surrounded by lush gardens was amazing. It was a bit of a walk from reception area but that didn't bother us. We found our room quite quiet too being so far away so that was a bonus. The staff are lovely and so friendly and the rooms were clean and spacious. We didn't mind the location of the hotel as it was only a 5 min tuk tuk ride into town, if that. We also walked it many times which was quite pleasant. There are delis and shops outside the hotel which is very convenient. Didn't think much of the beaches but coming from Perth we are spoilt with our stunning beaches here so I'm always a bit disappointed with beaches overseas. We booked all our tours to the islands, sightseeing, cooking classes etc in the only air conditioned glass booth on the same street the hotel is on. The prices were fantastic and services great. Would love to come back to Mecure Aonang again one day. Thank you!

Well usually I go by the reviews about a hotel and this time also I was prepared. Even though the hotel had mixed reviews, we decided to give it a try. We arrived at 2:30pm and the rooms were not ready. After waiting for 20 min and tolerating the cold behavior of the staff at the reception we finally got into our room. We booked 2 pool access rooms. The rooms are average rooms. The breakfast is also ok. having been traveling a lot one thing which i experienced for the 1st time, the coffee creamer in the room was soiled(ofcourse cannot blame the staff, its the weather, humid) but the surprising part was when i asked for another sachet of creamer and tea they said we can give only 1 packet per day. I had to explain them that the previous drink prepared had to be thrown because of the creamer. Giving explanation for a creamer sachet was strange. Overall I would rate it to be a decent 3 star property.

Room Tip: pool access rooms are good but can be noisy at times.
