“Feels like Home”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

I really struck gold when I stayed here on a family trip with my cousin and mother. Not only were the rooms spacious, clean and light, they are also beautifully and thoughtfully furnished. The wifi here is also super fast and reliable.

The owner Andy is very helpful in helping us with bookings for other activities and tours we wanted to go on, arranging motorcycle and car rentals for us, as well as recommending great places for local food. Andy always had everything ready for us before even asked for anything - he must be a mind reader!

Vanilla is Andy's friendly little pooch, and having him greet me every day really made the days brighter. Despite having a canine friend there, the premises are always very clean so my sinus allergies never acted up during my 1 week stay there.

With the beach just a 5 minute walk away, the location is great since I preferred to stay away from the busy street along the beach, full of bars and shops and touters.

The only thing to note is that there is a curfew as Andy runs the guest house himself. He stayed up to wait for our return to lock up the whole building, and is the first person I see every morning. Being here for diving and early morning activities with my family, the curfew did not bother me at all. We really appreciated the quiet, calm privacy that made all my stresses melt away. Everyone was treated with respect and courtesy, which made our stay really enjoyable.

On top of all that, Aonang Haven also provides top quality massages - I didn't even have to leave to get my fix! Do check out the other review I wrote for Aonang Haven Massage.

Room Tip: I stayed in the room with a small balcony which faces the main road, but it's nice to be able to...

Together with my parents, this room is indeed the best there is in Krabi. Not too far away from the beach or the night bars, it is often quiet and anyone could sleep soundly easily with their comfortable bed. To keep you entertained, there's plenty of English channels (HBOs, Cinemax etc) to tag you into bed.

My parents and myself had one room each, third and the fourth floor. Wish there was a telephone between rooms so for myself and my parents, we could call each other easily instead of walking up and down the stairs.

Room Tip: All rooms are great!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Aonang Haven Guesthouse for 4 nights in February. I was a little wary that the location seemed off the main beach strip but it was actually perfect... a 5-10 minute walk down to the beach and a bit quieter and less crazy than the beachfront street. The best food in town (cheaper, more authentic) is up this road but it still feels central enough. The rooms were spotless and tasteful and the owner, Andy, was very helpful but unintrusive. I missed our dog at home and loved being greeted by his dog, Vanilla, everytime we came back to the guesthouse! I didn't see the smaller windowless rooms but the one we stayed in (small balcony with a view of the main street) was great and very bright. The road is fairly busy so you may find it a bit loud if you are a very light sleeper but I think this would be the case in most hotels and guest houses in Ao Nang and I certainly had the best sleep here of our whole trip to Thailand! There definitely seem to be more rules and regulations when you check in but if you aren't willing to agree to basic rules and want to party all night then you might be better suited at a "lesser" guesthouse... Andy clearly takes pride in his business and the rules and curfew etc. are just the guests signed agreement to respect his property. Plus, as he locks up the front of the guesthouse when he goes to bed for the evening and someone is always at the front desk, I felt very comfortable about our personal safety and the safety of our belongings while staying here. Definitely the best massage in town too so other than getting a cheap foot massage out while walking around, skip the women hawking massages up and down the road and book in for a massage at the guesthouse... very professional!
Aonang is certainly a hidden gem so book early.... we will definitely be staying here any time we return to the Krabi area!

Room Tip: Worth the extra money to get a room with a balcony.

Thank you for the review. We appreciate every positive feedback as they serve greatly to encourage us in making Aonang Haven "The Best Place in Aonang to Rest.Relax.Rejuvenate."

Our pride is knowing that our efforts are being recognized by our valued guests like yourself. Being a small business, every single aspect that makes Aonang Haven what it is was carefully thought out by the owners themselves right from scratch. Every design and process from what goes into the rooms and massages right down to the maintenance and daily running of the business is personally taken care of.

Our house rules are actually no more than a guideline and agreement between our guests and us to respect what Aonang Haven is all about so that everyone's personal well-being is being taken care of.

At the end of the day, our goal is to have our guests feel all restful, relaxed and rejuvenated on their vacation in Krabi. We cannot be more happy to hear from our guests who can feel the positive difference that we make. Thank you once more and shall the opportunity arise in the near future, be sure to know that you are most welcome to stay with us again.

Travel to Krabi with my husband in Oct 2013 and stayed at Aonang Haven Guesthouse for two nights. We were given the room on the third floor, climbing the stairs with all our luggages. Room was OK and clean. Near by a minimart and lots of places to dine around. Wanted to request a late check out on our last day because our flight was not until late evening back to Bangkok, but we were told to check out early the next day because it was public holiday in Thailand. The guesthouse wanted to close business for the day. We were moved to the next hotel, which in contrast, continued to open despite public holiday. We wandered around town and saw most hotels were still open that day. Never in my life, staying in a hotel that is closed in public holiday. If you wish to stay in this hotel during Thailand public holidays, better check in advance if they are open!

As this review was only written in April 2014 when the guest's stay was almost 6 months back in October 2013, we took some time to go through our record of guest registrations before finding what matches the reviewer's name, date of stay and comments.

The guest was found to be from Indonesia and came with her partner. The check-in date was 12 Oct 2013 and the check-out date was 14 Oct 2013. 14 Oct 2013 is not a public holiday in Thailand, therefore comment made on this part is inaccurate.

For holiday dates in 2013, kindly refer here:
http://www.thaiembassy.com/thailand/thai-holidays.php

However, we were indeed scheduled to be closed on 14 Oct 2013 as well as 15 Oct 2013 for 2 days. The guesthouse schedule periodic closures every month for the purpose of maintenance. We take this time to perform checks on our facilities, head to town to carry out re-stocking as well as to take a short break from daily work.

Closure announcements are always broadcasted on our Facebook page to manage public relations. This particular closure was broadcasted on 10 Oct 2013; 4 days before the closure.

Kindly refer here and scroll down to October 2013 for the announcement:
https://www.facebook.com/AonangHaven

The guest's comment about being told to check-out early is also incorrect. The check-out timing at the guesthouse is 11.00am. When we were informed the day before that they would like to check-out late, they were told that it was not possible as the guesthouse would be closed. We therefore gave them an option to move to the hotel next door which had a walk-in room promotion of 500-800 baht/night depending on room-type at that time. This is much more affordable than having to be charged 500 baht/hour for late check-out as per our accommodation policy. The guests went over to the hotel next door in the morning of their check-out to find out more information before coming to a decision. They came back shortly after to check-out from the guesthouse.

Guests of Aonang Haven have no need to worry if they have a late flight on their check-out date. Many of our guests have had their luggage deposited at our reception after checking-out at 11.00am before coming back to pick them up later. Even if the date coincides with our closure, it is our responsibility to honour the guest's stay until the check-out time.

This is my first time staying in a guesthouse and I'm very impressed with everything Aonang Haven Guesthouse have to offer. It has totally changed my travelling style (accommodation wise), service is much better than some hotel's, and no doubt this is 'The Best Place in Aonang to Rest.Relax.Rejuvenate.'

The 'King 2' Room;
- Big, clean, well decorated and yet simple room; pillows and bed are very comfortable. Awesome view from the room balcony as you can still see the sunset without the need to go to the beach.
- Complimentary soft drinks in the fridges is available upon checking in; and teas/coffees are available 24/7 at the dashing limestone-view shared balcony outside your room.
- Washroom is clean, no issue with hot water.

Hotel location;
- 5mins to Ao Nang Beach
- 15mins to Railey Beach (boat service from Ao Nang beach)

Other Information;
- The owner, Mr Andy, speaks very good english and is a very nice person.
- Vanilla, Mr Andy's pet dog, is very adorable.
- 2 pin plug for their electrical socket which you can borrow the adapter from Mr Andy.
- Guesthouse did not provide breakfast but you'll be spoilt for choices of the good food selections around Ao Nang.
- Massage Room is located at the basement, the ambience of the room truly defines the meaning of 'relax and rejuvenate'; the 'Adventurer's massage' is worth every baht although it's quite scary for first timers like me.

To Mr Andy,
we really enjoyed our stay at Aonang Haven Guesthouse and we're already planning to come back once i'm done with school in February (a very good month to visit Thailand I believe). Many thanks for the hospitality and hope to see you soon.

Went as a couple on 13th - 18th March 2014.
No doubt will return to this guesthouse if I were to be in Ao Nang, Krabi again.

Room Tip: Tip? This is the best place one could ask for. :)

Thank you very much for the kind review. We remember you as the Malay couple from Singapore and is very happy to hear that you enjoyed both your stay and massage with us.

Yes, indeed. February (or towards the end of February to be exact) would be a good time to visit Krabi as the weather is sunny yet not scorching hot like March. The crowd from the peak festive season of Dec/Jan are also mostly gone so it gives a much more relax atmosphere to the place.

And to give you the heads up, our rooms will be getting a bit of an upgrade soon as we are always looking for ways to improve our guest's experience during their stay. You may check our website or Facebook page for updates about the improvements.

We look forward to seeing you again then and here's wishing you great success in your studies.

Fantastic location! There are so many restaurants and street food just outside the guesthouse. A nice stroll in the evening from the guesthouse to the beach to enjoy the sunset and at the same time there are many shops along the street.

The Room is pretty huge and comfortable. Squeaky clean. A nice balcony. It even includes a foldable table and chair for us to have our breakfast and tea at the balcony. Complimentary drinks in the fridge and before you check in. The Owner, Mr. Andy is a super nice person. Helpful when we needed help to book tours, he even gave us a map of Ao Nang and drew the location of the tour operator recommended. Everytime we enter and exit the guesthouse, he will ask us about our day, the trip, that is what we call service. And Vanilla the owner's dog is so well behave. My GF even took a picture with his dog. and truthfully, she is afraid of cats and dogs.

The massage is truly the best in Ao Nang, we took the Adventurer's massage and it was worth every baht. After the massage, herbal tea is being served for us to recover.
I will highly recommend Ao Nang Haven for its service, cleanliness, location and its price. A nice young owner who is willing to go the extra mile. You can't get any better than this.

Thanks Andy!

From Nurul & Ubai

Simple, clean, very well kept... extremely relaxing among the chaos of Ao Nang... could not have asked for a better place to stay, (with in-house massage services) relative to all the food and beach ... would highly recommend and will stay again!
