“Good hotel and fantastic location”
Reviewed 24 February 2013

We stayed in Tika house with beautiful view.
A lot of walking because the house was on the hill but was worth it.
Minus of this hotel was breakfast.
Big plus-fantastic location in the centre but set back from the busy street.Supermarket on the corner where you can buy almost everything.

The position is good as it is set back from the busy street where there is an array of shops and places to eat and is only about 200 metres from the beach front.
The rooms are clean and wi fi is free and available in the lobby although i found i was able to receive it in my room.
Check in was fairly straight forward but staff not particularly helpful.
When you arrive check your room to make sure that all the items supplied by them are actually there. There is a price list of charges for anything missing at the end of your stay. We did not do this and we were told we must pay for missing laundry bag which we had never seen and they were a bit unpleasant when we refused to do so and only accepted that we did not have it when we asked them to search our bags.
The restaurant used for breakfast was very bleak and the food uninspiring. Plenty of places to eat in the evenings outside.

Room Tip: It is best to avoid ground floor room as you have no view or sunshine. We chose what is known as th...

We've just stayed 2 nights en route to Ko Lanta. We've read the other recent reviews.
All are true in their own ways:
Definitely not a place to stay if you want to chill out and relax, enjoying on site amenities, good food and some luxury.
A more than acceptable place to stay if you want a relatively inexpensive base which has nice rooms (interconnecting if you want) is set back a bit from the town so quite private, yet only 3 minutes walk to Ao Nang beach.
I wouldn't stay more than 2 or 3 days here, I wouldn't eat here, I wouldn't swim here: but I wasn't really planning to given its location.
Would we stay again? I very much doubt it, but then I don't see us staying on Ao Nang Beach again.

Room Tip: Up the hill behind the swimming pool.

Absolutely wonderfully, Krabi was a very nice surprise, TIPA Resort was perfectly placed with many eating places and shops virtually at your door step and yet it is set far enough back from the street to give you a noiseless sleep, the staff were very polite and helpful (speak slowly and clear will help). Thank to Air One Aviation in Singapore, for a great suggestion, will definitely be back and will happily stay at TIPA again. The four island tour was the best highlight, feeding thousands of fish by hand while snorkeling was unforgettable , motor scooter hire at 200bht per day is the go, the roads are well signed and in good condition. Great for couples and families. From Melbourne Australia .

Room Tip: Stay main complex for wifi

I stayed a week in this hotel (August 2012) together with my boyfriend, in one of the bungalows. Let's start with the good points: the hotel is really close to the beach and the shopping street, but still hidden from noice. The reception area is cozy and personnel is friendly and helpful. The air condition worked well and someone cleaned our room every day. We were a bit disappointed with the hotel though, for a couple of reasons: 1) On the last night, we had a cockroach running on the wall in our room. 2) One night, there was something crawling on our roof, we're not sure if it was a rat our squirrels... 3) The breakfast is very limited and not well taken care of: the yoghurt for example is not kept cold! (it is simply placed in a bowl with a lid on it). Also, some of the days I had problems to eat because there were wasps flying around.

This hotel is by far one of the worst I have ever stayed in. The staff are extremely rude and unhelpful. They ignore you and if you have any problems they will not help. The air conditioning did not work, the wifi did not work, my skirt, tshirt and rayban sunglasses were stollen from the pool. It was a very old primark skirt with stains on - unlikely that someone staying at the hotel would want it. Upon asking the staff, they first ignored me, then said they hadn't seen anything, pretended to inquire and made no eye contact whatsoever. The next day upon asking someone more senior, after he enquired he said his staff saw the items and moved them under the deck chair. (Why at closing they wouldn't put them in lost property is beyond me). The stories didnt add up and once it became apparent that one of the staff members has stollen the items, I asked to see CCTV footage and they refused to let me see - made me wait 3 hours whilst they checked and "investigated" the situation. The staff are all liars, we had to get the police involved - 4 police officers turned up and eventually they let us view the CCTV - miraculously the date of the incident was not available to view! Whilst looking through the footage list, another lady reported stollen items from by the pool. please note there are bar staff at then pool watching at all times and the pool is so small there are only about 10 sunbeds. My items were stolen at 6pm - it was late and no one apart from the staff were around. In addition to this disaster... Breakfast was poor, food ran out and the staff wouldn't bring out more. Selection was extremely limited. The hotel is also very noisy. At 6am and at sunset hundreds of bugs come out and make a loud high pitched noise. Honestly we thought it was a tsunami alarm on our first day. I was woken up every morning by this horrific sound and it ruined every aspect of calm and tranquility that I expected from this secluded resort. Overall there is not much to do here apart from eat and beach. There is one strip of shops with extremely high prices especially for tourists. Highest prices we had seen throughout the whole trip! Also before of people trying to rip you off.. I bought three brass wise monkeys for 3000baht... The shop here tried to sell me the same monkeys for 8000baht - almost three times the price!

Overall I do not advise this hotel in the slightest! We were not expecting much but the fact that they staff didnt even have a friendly face or a smile just shows what you should expect if you choose to come here. There are plenty of nicer hotels along the same price range.

A final tip, although slighty irrelevant.. In Bangkok we went over our hotel budget and stayed somewhere about £20 more expensive. I have to say that this was the best decision we ever made. The wifi was unbelievable, they provide you with unlimited bottled water and even bring you spare towels and water when you are sunbathing by the pool all for free. They staff are so polite and willing to impress! And in terms of the food, we only got breakfast included but the quality was exceptional. There was a huge variety and such great food to choose from. Honestly If I could go back, I wish I would have spent slightly more than what we did for the disgrace that was the tipa resort. Had we done this, I might have enjoyed my time here. Absolutely dispicable, a disgrace of a resort. Never again. Not even one positive thing to say. By far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Advice... A hostel would have been nicer!
