“Cool Place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2013

The L Resort is a very nice place in Aonang. The hotel is very stylish, a beautiful pool area with waterfall, pool massage chairs, and good sunbeds. The restaurants are nice, good staff and a great breakfast.

The rooms are ok, we stayed in the bungalows and we think they were alright for the price we paied. The beds were not that comfortable but the rest were satisfying. One of the cool things about this place is that you get an Ipad when you check in so you can order roomservice, cleaning, check internet and all sorts of stuff which is good.

Location. We were here in middle/beginning of May so it was beginning of low season. The hotel is next door to a few pub/clubs so I guess it could be quite noisy but we had a room on the other side so we did not hear that much. Otherwise it is a good location, close to boat ticket office, beach, restaurants and minimarts.

We stayed here with two children, one year and three year old, and they liked it a lot.
We booked as “Walk In” guest because it was cheaper than the booking sites like sawadee etc. The hotel charged 2450bath incl breakfast and tax, booking sites charged 3450bath for same room.

I recommend this place to family, couples or anyone who wants to spend some time in Aonag and want to be close to Centre/Beach.

Located in the middle of great shopping and restaurants, a few doors down from nightlife, and directly across the street from the beach. Ao Nang is about 35 - 40 minutes from the airport. The hotel lobby was nice and updated. our bungalow had a nice view of the pool and was a nice size, minus the smaller bathroom. The breakfast buffet was not very good.

Room Tip: The bungalows are a bit of a climb and there's a lot of noise at night from the critters around...

I travelled from Phuket to Krabi by Ao Nang Princess Ferry and the L Resort was just a few minutes drive from the pier.
I choose the L Resort for its prized location at Ao Nang, opposite the beach-road, with an ample variety of shopping, travel organizing and dining options at Royal Tailors, Krabi Best Tours and Crazy Gringo’s Tex-Mex, respectively.

After a friendly check-in, I am given access to use personal iPad in my room and I am introduced to the hotels “Interactive Guest Experience”, a device that allowed me to order room service and even book in-room massage or schedule a tour and also get area information. The hotel area offers free Wi-Fi.

My Larger Suite with a spacious living room and the bed room, afford fine view of the sea across the road. The suite comes with all the 5-star amenities including coffee making machine.
However, to meet travellers budget requirement, the hotel offers a variety of category of rooms such as the L Suite, the Larger Room and the little Bungalow.

The L-avish Pool area is a place to relax and rejuvenate by the pool bar and the Resort’s restaurant: the Wannas Place is the talk of the town since the past 15 plus years, my favourite in Ao Nang. Recently, the restaurant has introduced in its succulent menu juicy steak on hot plate, the meat is imported from Australia.

The L Resort is still among a very few environmental friendly resorts in Krabi that has installed solar panel to heat water and hot water supply to all the rooms. Hopefully, the government would offer incentive for other to follow the L Resort environmental friendly approach to future energy consumption demands.

Amazing fast check in. Friendly staff and GM (Michael) welcome guest with a smile, welcome drink and Ipad (free use during our stay) Chalet was good, but a bit small. Free 2 caps of freshly brewed coffee taste excellent. Nicely located, and right at the center of shopping and entertainment. Small swimming pool but with good spa and not crowded. Will stay at same place next trip around for sure. Breakfast spread was average but not over crowded.

Located in the heart of Ao Nang beach, with all shops, restaurants and nightlife literally right outside the door. If you walk straight out of the open-air lobby you will be facing the beach across the street, where long-tail boats are lined up ready to take you anywhere you want (i recommend Railey Beach just 10 minutes away by boat - amazing beach area for swimming and hanging out). We enjoyed the feeling of not needing a car the entire vacation. You wont need one if you stay here.

The restaurant onsite is great, has both Thai and European/American options. The pool is just as awesome as it looks in the pictures, even better. Waiters can bring you anything you desires right to the poolside, for very cheap (large Chang beer $2, large fresh coconut $2...).

The best aspect of this hotel, other than the location and the pool.... is the staff. They are extremely welcoming and helpful. Always smiling at you. Some examples of how the hotel went out of their way to accommodate us.... (1) We had an issue with one of our tours not providing what was promised in the brochure, and the hotel renegotiated a refund on our behalf. (2) When we were unhappy with our bungalow room because of noise issues the staff was more than willing to accommodate us on a room change (note if you are a light sleeper you will not like the bungalow rooms for the slight noise you will hear outside - if you dont mind light sounds or need it to sleep, then the bungalows are great).

I would certainly return.

Room Tip: The large rooms are really awesome, and worth the extra penny. Don't get a bungalow room if you...

We stayed here for 3 weeks in february.
The location and reception area is great, the pool area is small, but never crowded. The cleaning staff is very polite and helpful. This was the positives, now over to the negatives.
This is not a resort, and as far from luxury as you can possibly get. Do not trust the pictures from the website, We stayed in a lite bungalow. The first nights we stayed at bungalow 001, but could not sleep because of noise from the nightclub next to the "resort". We had earplugs, but when you feel the bass in your body nothing really helps. The staff arranged for us to move to bungalow 007 two days later. To get some sleep we had to change to another hotel two nights. Bungalow 007 had less noise, but that was the only positive about it. Our view from the room was just a big carport. The room was dated with old wooden door with cracks in it (beautifully fixed with duct tape), plastic seethrough door that didnt close to the bathroom, wardrobe doors that you couldnt close. From the ceiling in the bathroom leaves and other things came down because some creatures that apperantly lived up there ran back and furth. Same in both bungalows. Every morning the bathroom had changed! The shower is really bad, no pressure. And the bathroom looks like something the 80s threw up. (This has not been upgraded for years and is possible the reason why the hotel doesnt show pictures of it.) The toilet got flooded many times a day. Overall the work done in bungalow is poor. The hotel brags about their nescafe machine. But really, two cups in three weeks is not a great offer. Another thing is the cockroackes. Did not add more luxury to the stay either.
Breakfast was served in the restaurant overlooking the sea. That was nice. And that was the only thing great about breakfast. We have been around in Thailand, but never experienced such a bad breakfast. In three weeks they did not change a thing.
The staff in the reception and the hotel manager was at first very polite. When we complainted about the noise it seemed like it shocked Michel. (And therefor it shocked us to read about all the upgrades other guests have received because of noise. No news for him afterall it seems.) We booked for three weeks and got the worst room. After we complained both reception staff and hotel manager made us feel unwelcome. At checkout they tried to charge us 3200bath extra for a trip to Phi Phi. We didnt book any trips with them.
Ao Nang is beautiful and we will go back. But never to The L resort. The best days of our trip was when we stayed at other hotels.

Room Tip: Stay away from the bungalows
