“Great all around!”

Everything about this hotel was just great. The bungalows are spacious and clean and far enough a part that you really feel like you have your own private garden. The pool is absolutely gorgeous, the food is delicious and the service was top-notch! The receptionist was incredibly friendly and helpful. She helped find me a place to do yoga on Sunday morning and arranged a driver and everything. I could barely tear myself away from this place! It's pricey, but well worth it!

What a beautiful gem of a hotel. The views all around the resort are spectacular from lakes to huge impressive cliffs. The swimming pool is brilliant.

Beautiful well kept grounds and immaculate rooms.

We had a cottage with jacuzzi bath - just lovely for relaxing looking out the window over the lake. The bed was so comfy i had trouble extracting myself in the morning.

The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We travelled with 2 children (6 & 4yrs) who were also made very welcome.

Please note that this is a dry resort and so if you want an alcoholic drink you would need to bring some with you.

Restaurant is now open all the time. The food is great. Breakfast is outstanding with the usual buffet options or a made to order cooked breakfast such as pancakes, rotis and omlettes.

So glad we found this place. nice treat before we head back to Bangkok.

nice hotel feel in a private bungalow setting. Rooms were clean, showers spacious. Staff were helpful, breakfast was delicious, grounds and mountain views were lovely. Great value. We rented a motorbike so we could come and go on our own, can get pricey with lots of tuk-tuk rides or limiting with only the hotel shuttle to get around.

Needed one last night close to Krabi airport and booked 2 bungalows at Ban Sainai. Everything was just outstanding from we arrived until we left. The service level was amazing. The staff new the names of the different familiy members when we arrived. The bungalows was nicey equipped and the whole resort area had a genuin and nice architecture. Compared with other resorts we have been at, Ban Sainai should have had a 5 star (*****) rating and not only 3 (***)! The pool area, the reception and the restaurant all is nicely placed in the nature in front of the mountains. Really nice, we will come back! This is not a party place but a nice and quitet place to calm down and enjoy the life!

Room Tip: All bungalows would satisfy your wishes! Pick the one which fits the size of your group. They are al...

The tropical gardens and mountains surrounding the cottages make this hotel unique! The room is big, quiet and comfortable. Free short rides to Ao Nang Beach and back. Nice pool. Very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast is good but with little variety. Could have more TV channels. Highly recommended!

Hollydaze has it pretty much nailed down.

The Good: Lovely rooms; clean; fridge available; daily room cleaning (not always common in Thailand budget accommodation); large rooms; quite = excellent rest; truly awesome pool area; fabulous views of the nearby cliffs towering over the gardens; excellent staff friendliness; only minuted from "the Strip" but far enough away to escape any feeling of "ghetto tourism".

The Not-So-Good: As Hollydaze mentioned, no advertising that the resort is dry = a bit of a surprise at dinner (easily fixed by a visit to Tescos + room fridge); major downfall = poor restaurant. Breakfast coffee was .... there are no words; the "roti" was a poorly made pancake, soft, soggy and tough, not crispy like the borrow-ladies make them on the beachfront.

Warn about the "no-booze" and jack up the restaurant and at less than €50 per room, this will be the star of Ao Nang.

You may get the idea that I didn't care for Ao Nang. And you would be correct. I was just trying to get us closer to the Krabi airport, so chose this new resort for a two night stay.

The good: outstanding scenery. The cliffs are just gorgeous. The pool area is lovely. The bungalows are spacious, new and super clean. The staff could not have been more accommodating and sweet.

The not so good: restaurant food was actually not bad but the poor girls working there really had no idea which end was up. If you ordered 3 dishes, it was a surprise in terms of which would come first and what you would actually get! We never ate our meals simultaneously. Location wise, this is a good 25 minute walk into Ao Nang. They have a shuttle, but it's only every few hours. A taxi is about 100 baht or so. We chose to walk most often but would be hard in the real heat. By the way, Ao Nang has an awful beach and is quite skeevy. Two nights were more than enough! Some decent eating at Boat House Noodles and Deans seafood. Nice pedicure at Haven.

did I mention this resort is DRY? No alcohol served as it is Muslim owned! Surprise! You can buy your own beer and keep in your mini fridge, but nothing in the restaurant. This isn't highlighted on their website, but perhaps it should be. Oh yes, very, very hard beds...I love a hard bed, but these were crazy! Great sheets though!

Great choice for families...quite a few temper tantruming wee ones running around the pool - a bit of a turn off for me on vacation. That said, a short stay was do-able.

Soooo, would recommend to families, perhaps couples who like a quiet place and don't mind kids, but I wouldn't return personally - just not my thing. Not to mention, I would not be in a hurry to go back to Ao Nang ( when the out islands are so gorgeous!)
