“Great place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 February 2014

After going to stay in the boring hotel Centara Grand, we listen to our agent Andaman Sky and went to Golden Beach Resort. This is the best resort for us because it is near the shopping areas and restaurants. If only we listen to our agent before we would be here the whole time in Ao Nang Krabi. Hotel is in front of the beach. People coming and going, good place to people watch. It made the holiday more interesting, instead of sitting and doing nothing. I giving this place 4 star for location and facility.

We came from quiet Koh Tao and more or less got a shock when we arrived to crowdy Ao Nang. Lots of people everywhere, on the beach, in the city on the restaurants. This is a charter destination (we were not ware of this, and expected something more quiet). We had a nice bungalow with a sea view (the resort have only a few beachfront bungalows), but there is a small pedestrian street just in front of the bungalow with people constantly walking by. We felt a bit on display when sitting on our patio, but we got used to it. The resort has a nice pool area as well, but we preferred the sea and the beach. However, the beach is public, very crowded and there are no sun beds there for the hotel guests. The breakfast buffet was OK, but the service in the reception could have been better. We asked for help to make a restaurant reservation, but they did not manage to help us (they could not find the telephone number for the restaurant-and did not notify us that they actually did not make a reservation - however, we found the number easily on the internet)The resort is overpriced for Thailand. The hotel has a wireless internet which did not work in our bungalow, we had to pay 1000 baht for access to the public Krabi internet service. Unfortunately there is a lot of noise from the long tail boats constantly leaving from/to Railay beach. The bungalow/pavilion was nice, but we will not visit Ao Nang again.

Room Tip: Only the seafront pavilions have sea view, but there is a massage centre just in front of two of the...

The villa rooms are big and the standard of cleaning is very good.
The grounds are clean and tidy and it has a nice pool (good for the kids!).
The staff were very friendly and the level of service was very good.
The resort is in a good location - away from the busy main road and right across the road from the beach.
The breakfast which was included with our booking is just average. The coffee is terrible!

Room Tip: We stayed in the villas. Although not connecting rooms we had an upstairs/downstairs arrangement wit...

Only problem is the practice of guests reserving poolside chairs with their towels and then disappearing for most of the day. Easy to fix put up a sign to say the chair is only yours while at the pool.

Staff are very rude and made it clear that friendliness is only reserved for Caucasians. We booked a room for 2 but we had friends over every now and then. Staff made spot checks and accuse us of smuggling people over. Receptionist bang on the desk and insist we paid for our other friends. She even threatened us by pointed a penknife at us. Eventually, we had to ask a representative from our friend's hotel to come and proof that our other 4 friend have indeed stayed at their hotel. Will never come again regardless of how nice the place is.

Room Tip: Stay at Guitar Venice instead. Staff are friendly and even help in the crisis.

The resort is one of a line of hotels along the busy Ao Nang beach and road. We booked five rooms on the ground floor of the two story building facing the pool and garden. Rooms were clean and well maintained save for the sliding doors to the balconies which, in two rooms could not be locked. The A/C was loud and blowing directly on the bed which was uncomfortable especially when the fine tuning of the fan and temperature was very “on off”. The pool area and garden was very well designed and maintained; a big plus at peak season when the beach was much too crowded for our 15 pax family. Great place for kids! The restaurant served a good standard breakfast but for lunch and dinners did not the first choice. The X-mass party which the hotel forced their customers to purchase for 3000Bath per person was in every respect a rip off with an extremely poor buffet, entertainment which was deplorable and a lady speaker who’s English language was rudimentary: an evening not to be remembered. The personnel was helpful and friendly. However, one unpleasant incident occurred when our 1½ old grandson locked himself in the room. Since only one key was given per room I rushed to the front desk and asked them to open the door. They had no key to do so (!) but started to call the housekeeping which did not answer their call. It took 25 minutes to get the door open with very agitated persons on both side of the closed door, to put it mildly. To sum up: great place for kids and as to adults (or grandparents as we happen to be) a less than outstanding choice.

A hotel to really relax and enjoy beach life! Absolutely the best location in Ao Nang, steps to the beach, restaurants, shopping. Very accommodating to couples as well as families, and children of all ages. Well maintained, but will be in need of some upgrades soon. Many room configurations for different groups of people. Restaurant/Breakfast good, but only ok. Go and enjoy!

Room Tip: Pavilion Suites are the best rooms.
