“Amazing stay in Krabi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2012

I just came back from a 3 day stay at the Krabi Thai Village Resort.... I thought the value for money was amazing. The room was huge and so clean (and im really picky about cleanliness), the staff were so friendly to us and we were only a short walk from the beach.

We asked the hotel for a cooking lesson and they even provided us with a private Thai cooking lesson with the chef! It was amazing! I now know how to make a 3 course Thai meal.

Everyone just made us feel so welcome.

The spa at the hotel is quite expensive, so if you're looking for a good alternative, opposite the road there's a massage/beauty parlour called Massage Corner, which is a great spa day out for women looking for good value.

Overall a great stay in a lovely hotel.

Room Tip: If you ask for a room with a great view while checking in, they give you one. That's what we did...

Rooms are comfortable and clean, well located - about ten minutes from the beach so not in the hustle and bustle. Breakfast could be better

We stayed here in late March 2012, the hotel is located about 4 or 5 minutes walk from the beach and shops but is well served by Tuk-Tuks. The hotel breakfast is very good, ranging from fry-ups to healthy options and even spicy Thai food !!

The bedrooms are overlooking the pool but very discretely tucked behind palm trees and plants so its not rowdy. Our rooms were very nice and well cleaned, and in fact our cleaner was the only smiling staff member we saw all week. Many of the staff spent their time lounging around draped over chairs and tables, completely ignoring the guests...amazing. I suppose they are not paid a huge amount and it was the end of the season.

Nobody ate their evening meal their and not many people were around the 3 or 4 very good swimming pools. We were charged £16 for a single club sandwich and Cold drink from the poolside bar, after being stung (serves us right, I know) the next few days we walked the 200 yards to the street vendors and purchased freshly cooked chicken kebabs and Banana pancakes for £3 and took them back to the hotel.

Nightlife isn't too bad, bars and pubs open till the early hours but it is not a wild raving place.
Although we tried many of the restaurants (the food is generally very good) we found that the welcome we got in Sally O'malleys Irish bar was so nice that we ate out and then ended up their for a couple of beers.

If you are thinking of visiting the Islands, then do it from Krabi. We took a longboat over to the nearest Island of Poda and for £6 each return we found that it was fabulous value for a marvellous day at the beach. Tickets available from the municipal booths on the beach. Fresh food vendors on the Island will cook you a beautiful healthy lunch for a couple of quid and you can get a massage or go snorkelling.

We also too the speedboat trip to Phi-Phi for about £25 each, this included brief stops to Monkey island (pointless) Viking cave (pointless) but Maya beach (where the film The Beach was made) and Phi-Phi (too short a time) this included snorkelling and lunch. All very nice but a bit on-and-off-the-boat every half hour. Maya beach was probably quite beautiful but we couldnt see it due to the Russian hordes.

We stayed in Bangkok, Krabi and Phuket, but for us Krabi was the more unspoilt and authentic Thailand.

We have just returned from a 12 night stay at the Krabi Thai Village - we loved every minute!!
The reviews posted by Jack L and Darce14 sum up the qualities of this hotel perfectly. The rooms are spacious and clean, the housekeepers are superb and my lass loved the bouquet of flowers left for her every day. The pool area is massive and well maintained, although I do recommend wearing footwear as the AstroTurf gets bloody hot!! The landscaping has been intelligently designed to offer as much privacy from the rooms (the vast majority overlook the pool) to the pool and vice-versa. The pool staff were very friendly (must point out tho', there are no lifeguards), my only grumble was the cost of food from the pool bar, it is close to being a rip off (200baht (£5) for a sandwich). We used the restaurants opposite!! Breakfast was perfectly adequate, there is a wide selection to choose from however the menu doesn't change much from day - day.
The reception staff were very professional. Should you need to use them, I recommend using the younger receptionists, they couldn't do enough for you. As has been said, the internet is not free, 1200 baht for the week. But there are umpteen bars in town offering free wi-fi and you only need ask for the password once and you can use the internet every time you return.
On your last day, checkout is at noon, we asked to keep the room on for a few hours as we were not being collected until 5pm. The hotel wanted to charge 500baht/hour for this privilege. Should you be in this position, speak to your Tour Rep. We were able to keep the room until 2pm free of charge. There are however more than adequate shower facilities and the hotel will look after your bags after your check out free of charge.
All in all, we loved our time in Krabi. You must get out and visit the islands either by longboat or speedboat, the scenery is just incredible. We will return to Ao Nang, and yes we will be going back to the Thai Village. I only hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we did ours!!

Room Tip: We were on the top floor, not ideal for pushchairs and impossible for those in a wheelchair. Rooms a...

This is a really beautiful, well run resort hotel staffed by an army of hard working people and a very talented, hands on manager named Orn (sometimes affectionally known as the BABY MANAGER, because of her youthful appearance). It is located about a 10 minute walk or a 30 baht tuk tuk ride to the main street in Ao Nang. The rooms are large and well appointed, the service is great and the whole place is spotless. The restaurant is fantabulous and the prices are comparable to the restaurants in town. The grounds are beautiful, well maintained and the pool even comes equipped with a bar. We stayed there for 7 nights in February and it was one of the highlights of our South East Asia vacation. We will be returning to Krabi for vacation next year and of course will stay at the Thai Village Resort

Had a wonderful 10 days with 10 friends, spent many hours in the pool sipping cocktails, telling stories, planning with next days trip. Staff very helpful, Naa in Travel a gem, gave us lots of ideas and good rates! "Cool bananas Naa"
Breakfast - all you could want for - super omelets cooked on the spot - plenty of variety.
Room service excellent, rooms spacious, clean, attend all your needs - everything works!!.
Location just far enough away from main shopping area - catch a TukTuk its fun.
It is a friendly, relaxed, peaceful hotel with great ambience showcasing some of the traditional Thai structure - suitable for business, couples, family and friends - you will not be disappointed.
Very affordable except internet access - take a short walk down the street to get a better rate.

Room Tip: Three stories - better rooms up the top but if you dont like stairs opt out for the ground floor - n...

The location is not too far from the shops, restaurants and beach and it's good to stretch your legs after a hard day sunbathing and sipping cocktails by the pool. The Thai evenings were very good with a popular two-piece band and a terrific selection of buffet food - some cooked while you wait.
Ao-Nang is only 500 metres away and there is a terrific range of bars, restuarants and Thai massages of course!
We felt very safe at all times and the traditional Thai friendliness was always to hand.
Our one complaint would be too many children at the hotel (and during term time!) and no control of where they used their inflatables despite there being an allocated children's pool. We would suggest that the inflatables (if not the children!) should be restricted to either the children's pool or the upper pool which was enviously quieter but no spare sunbeds!
We love kids and have three young grandchildren but .....

Room Tip: Go for one of the top floors.
