“Enjoyable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 May 2012

Clean and tidy which by accounts of other patrons who had stayed in other local hotels is a plus for sure.

Balcony is a great place to read a book (until you get too hot when you can retire of your room for a blast of a/c).

Pool area and swimup bar if you want to bake out in the sun. This area is astro turfed or fake grass so make sure you are wearing flip flops or thongs (the footwear kind) as the astro turf can burn your feet in the heat of the day.

I enjoyed a pedicure and foot massage in Vimala Spa. If you want to have spa treatments you need to book as the Spa is only opened for prebooked appointments. This is because therapists are available on an on call basis. Given that there are so many massage spas around the area (apart from resort) this is no inconvenience and probably explains why therapists have mobile phones while in Spa. I didnt find this annoying in the least and would recommend both treatments.

Plenty of places to eat in and around Au Nang and most people do not use the restaurant at the resort apart from breakfasts. We ate lunch there on a few occasions for lunch, tip if you eat there the Pad Thai and Tom Yum Goong are enjoyable. Order Thai food rather than hamburger.

Be sure to bring your SPF 30+ as well as personal mosquito protection.

All in all relaxing stay.

We recently spent 2 weeks at Krabi Thai village hotel.
The hotel was very clean with our rooms cleaned on a daily basis with fresh towels provided.
The free use of towels for the swimming pools and the beach was also useful.
The hotel is in a lovely setting of tropical gardens but is about a 15 minute walk to the beach. We usually took a tuk tuk which costs about 20 baht per person.
The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfasts good with a wide choice of foods on offer.
I have a couple of complaints: The hotel should provide free internet access (most hotels do these days) It was very expensive (300 baht for 24 hours use) I would not stay here again for this very reason. My other complaint was the high cost of dinner if you wanted to eat at the hotel in the evening. We did have a reasonable meal there the night we arrived but this was costly. Eat out if you can - we liked the Lah Lei grill close by and also some of the restaurants in seafood alley in the town were good. We also recommend the Thai boxing if you like that kind of thing. We didn't really rate Hong island as the beach and the water were a bit dirty but Chicken island was lovely. Reilly Beach also recommended but can get busy.
We experienced a Tsunami warning whilst we were there which was scary but luckily no wave. The hotel handled this fairly well although took advantage of the fact we could not leave the hotel and therefore had to pay for a meal with them.
One other concern was that we were a family of 5 with adjoining rooms which had a double bed in each room. We asked for an additional bed on arrival and were told we would have to pay for this. This meant three of us which included my 13 year old son all had to share a double bed for 2 weeks which was far from ideal. I would have expected the hotel to be more accommodating given the price we paid and the fact they knew we had booked for 5 people. This really let them down and was a shame given that many other aspects of the hotel were really good.

Room Tip: We were on second floor overlooking the pool and gardens which was lovely. Rooms can be far away fro...

The reception was good but the cracks of the hotel started showing from the 2nd day. Our air-conditioner leaked and water streamed into our bathroom. After frantic calls to the maintenance crew, they arrived after an hour, fiddled with the pipes and actually disconnected the aircon as only the fan worked after that. No apology for our inconvenience and wet clothes, this event was just brushed aside. My other gripe was the poor location of the hotel and infrequent tuk-tuks available resulting in my family with two children walking down to the main road for any semblance of a beach holiday that we were promised from our tour operators. Sitting on burning green astro-turf next to the pool is not exactly a beach holiday. Otherwise the hotel is neat and fairly well kept, food okay. Biggest problem is the location.

there seems to be a lot of negativity about this hotel. we found all the staff to be happy and helpful. our rooms were very clean with lovely scented flowers fresh every day. it seems to us that you get what you give. we were there for songkran, and we were not pestered to join in, perhaps because we did!! and enjoyed ourselves. ok so it is astro turf buy the pool, probably better to have this than annoying lawn mowers!!! we would agree that they are a bit overstaffed, but hey they are being employed. better overstaffed than understaffed. we would recommend this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for 12 nights from 15 Feb 2012. We’ve travelled extensively throughout Thailand and SE Asia and this hotel was by far the worst hotel we have stayed in. If you like the idea of sitting on a sun bed, on astro turf (unbelievable in a tropical and green country), in a small crowded pool area, looking at reinforced concrete, then this is the place for you.

Our room was a good size and was kept clean but that is as far as it goes in terms of the positive points. Aside from the lobby, as other reviewers have noted, the hotel was a disappointment. Breakfast was awful. The selection and quality of the food was poor. In addition, the breakfast staff, bar one member of staff, were completely disinterested. Most mornings we would find ourselves having to change the cups/cutlery on the tables for ones without food residue left on them.

Because the pool area was so bad and not relaxing at all, we spent most of the days at the Nopparat Thara beach (turn right at the bottom of the road rather than left which takes you into Ao Nang). This was a quieter beach with lovely views of the islands.

We did not eat at the hotel in the evenings because of the poor quality of the breakfast food. We ate at a range of restaurants of which the Sala Bua & Lo Spuntino Restaurant was one of the better ones (excellent Massaman curry). We also liked the food at the Blue Mango. However, be warned that the majority of meals are quite bland as it appears that most restaurants tone down the level of spices for the tourists. So if you like your food spicy, make sure you request this when you order.

The hotel has wi-fi but there is an exorbitant charge to use it. If you need to use the internet go across the road and use the computers adjacent to the supermarket, which are excellent value.

So overall very disappointing. The hotel seems to be one that has reached the point where because they get a regular supply of visitors they no longer need to make an effort. This is not what we have experienced from other hotels across Thailand.

check in was nice we were given cold flannels on arrival and a fruity cocktail, the employee then tried to sell us the thai night with buffet and thai clothing that was on for songkran but this was quiet pricey and we wanted to get outside and join in the soakings of songkran so didnt go ahead with her offer!
We got to the room which was the only positive.. Seperate shower and bath with an opening to view the bedroom which was wooden floor, king bed, big tv, and chaise lounge. Spacious balcony however we didnt sit out there bc of mosquitoes but it did have a nice view of the pool, Water fountain etc
Breakfast was limited, and im sure i got a dodgy tummy from the omelette so watch and make sure its cooked enough! the staff were extremely grumpy and the hotel is sooo overstaffed they all just stand and stare moodily. We didnt have lunch or dinner here or stay by pool as all food and drinks were overpriced and there was no atmosphere. Our biggest gripe was upon checkout they tried telling us we had used water from minibar when we didnt touch it! Even saying we had called the maid begging for water, now i wouldnt moan over 37baht but we didnt drink it so they are obviously dodgy so beware. Very disappointed however it was an experience that will make us go elsewhere next time as ao nang is beautiful and had a perfect holiday except this hotel! I work in the travel industry and i wont be recommending it to my customers.

We stayed for a week with our 2 children, aged 2 and4 and the hotel wasperfect for us. We had lovely interconnecting rooms, which were clean and not in need of refurb as some reviews suggest.

The pool area was lovely for kids but I can maybe not what you would want as a couple. Lots of concrete.

The hotel was perfectly nice but not 4 star. We throughly enjoed out stay and would hightly recommend it to anyone with kids.

There were too many telling you what to do - even one at breakfast telling you not to take bananas out of the room.

There was an odd situation with the beach club. Our travel agent had clearly told us therewas a beach club with a free shuttle. On arrival I asked about it and the receptionist told me I was mistaken. Afew days later I enquired again and reluctantly they admitted there was one but going had to be booked advance. We got the shuttlebus the next day and found ourselves on our own beach. It was fab, but no idea why they so closely guard the secret.
