“Stunning wildlife surroundings + great comfort”

That's a unique place at Ao Nang betweeb the main road to the beach and a cliff road, that also goes to the beach - so you will have 2 options - go shopping or go on feet or by bike through tropical forest.

The resort ecologically designed - all houses stand high above the ground, so plants and trees, fish ponds, a small river and a lake-designed great pool with a spa-bath co-exist great! The wooden paths cross the are - they can be sleepery when it rains!

If you go with small children - watch them, there is so much exciting in the area and the wooden paths are 1m above the ground.

The nature is really great here - there is a grassy lake at the back of the hotel at the cliff where you can see various birds - frog peckers and others, lots of grey squirells live in the trees and play every moning in front of you. Once we saw an animal looked like an ant-eater near the restaurant.

The rooms are really large, bathrooms are luxury, restaurant is more affordable then many of those in the street and the food is delicious. Try before you decide to dine out. They are muslim, so don't have spirits, but the beer is on the menu. We had a bottle of wine with us and everybody was ok with that anyway.

Breakfast is varied, several hot dishes, cereals, eggs cooked for you, fruit - is really good.

Spa is overpriced and doesn't seem interesting.

But it takes only 300 m walk to find yourself in a shopping and bar area, so you can have nature, comfort and vibrant night life at the same time!

Room Tip: Try to get 2 or 3 floor - the view is better. We lived at 1 (ground floor) at the pond and it wa...

If you are looking for somehwere to sleep, GO there, but do not bother eating.

We stayed two nights in Somkiet Buri resort and overall enjoyed our stay. The rooms are in nicely constructed and decorated bungalows (2-4 rooms per bungalow I presume). Our room had a balcony which was large and overlooking the pool. There are trees/plants/flowers everywhere on the resort which gives it a jungle-like look, which we very much appreciated. The pool is somewhere in the middle of this jungle too and it gets very scenic at sunset due to colors in the sky.

The downside in this resort is twofold:
1) Breakfast/restaurant: as it was included in the room rate we decided to have breakfast at the hotel the first morning...Bad idea! We got there probably at 10.15am, which was 15min before it closed. Food had been lying there since it opened, without lid/cap which led to: sausages and bacon with dried/darkened edges (same for cheese), cold rice and coffee, ants in the salad, mosquitos on the bread....I guess you kind of get a feeling of what it was like. No need to say we did not bother eating there our second breakfast or in the same restaurant for dinner/lunch. A real shame...I was shocked that a manager would even let something like this happened. It was not only a narrow choice of options or a bad quality of the ingredients but more of a food safety case!

2) the service: like most places in Thailand, service did not meet our expectations but a smile and a professional attitude from the front desk lady would do no harm. We did not feel particularly welcomed.

We booked a superior room for the last 2 nights of our Thailand tour we got upgraded to a deluxe room which was huge, the biggest king size bed ever which was so comfortable our room had a lovely big balcony overlooking a pond which was full of fish such tropical settings it was amazing. The whole setting of this place is beautiful with the most exotic plants and flowers, waterfalls, ponds full of fish, wooden walk ways add to the jungle feel of this place. Due to the settings of this place there is no shortage of insects we used a plug in mozzi killer in our room which worked well. The breakast area is open air so it was a bit off putting to see things crawling over the food and tables, breakfast was a let down I did expect better from this hotel. The pool area is lovely although it does not really get that much direct sun we did not actually use the pool we went to the beach the hotel provided towels. The room has a safety deposit box, tea and coffe making facilities and a fridge. We did enjoy our stay although it was only brief.

Room Tip: The pool side rooms looked the nicest

As you walk towards your room on wooden plank pathway it gives you a feeling of passing through a rain forest. The rooms are spacious and decorated in traditional Thai style, the bathroom is large indeed. We had a swimming pool facing room that had beautiful view of the sparkling clean swimming pool which I can definitely say was a highlight. Breakfast was adequate and we had lunch once which was delicious. The location of the hotel is excellent in terms of accessibilty to restaurants/bars/shopping etc and the Aonang beach about 7 minutes walk. What was bothersome were mosquitoes and insects flying outside your room and the open dining area. Also the canal running thro' the property needs to be kept clean ( we saw some dead fish floating) to avoid foul smell emanating at times. Otherwise a highly reccommended place to stay in Aonang, Krabi.

Room Tip: Definitely swimming pool facing rooms at ground level

Myself and my 2 teenagers of 19 stayed here in a triple room in January.

Somkiet Buri is very central to the main shopping area of Ao Nang down a driveway off the main road so it's very quiet with no street noise.

The grounds are beautiful with wooden walkways meandering thru the trees and shrubs and over streams filled with fish.

The swimming pool is a good size and set in amongst the greenery which gives it a quiet feel.

The room we stayed in was one of 2 that was up a set of exterior stairs it was HUGE! 2 King size beds and a lounge type area as well as a balcony over looking the garden and pool.

The bathroom was also HUGE! with a lovely shower and big bath.

This was a great place to stay and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

We only stayed here for two nights, having already stayed in Phra Nang Inn just up the road. This was a much better hotel, although staff friendliness was lacking in both. The pool was beautiful, there was wifi everywhere and it was only a short walk from the beach and shops. The room was lovely, very comfortable bed and bathroom. Restaurant was also good.

We spent our first three nights at this resort at the start of our month long visit to the Islands. The resort is located about a 10 minute walk from the main beach, which is pretty ordinary and the jumping off point for many long tail boat trips to Railay beach and vendors trying to sell you something. The check in was smooth and the reception staff friendly. The rooms have a strong musty smell, which I think is due to the amount of vegetation and ponds that run through the resort, the rooms though are clean and spacious, with excellent comfortable beds. We spent a few hours around the pool, which was quiet at the time and pleasant enough to cool down and read a book. Breakfast was included but after one breakfast we decided to skip it, very limited and not worth the effort. We never had dinner here, and to be honest am not sure anyone else did, as the restaurant was always empty. One problem we did have was with the room safety deposit box, three time we couldn’t open it and three times the maintenance man messed with it and used masking tape to do something with the mechanism and three times it broke again, in the end they replaced the box, but never bolted it to the wall and it fell of the shelf onto the floor. The town itself is full of travel agents and tailors, but you can find some good Thai street food vendors, two minutes from the resort. Overhaul not a bad place to plan our onward travel and relax in the resort for a few days, before catching our ferry to Koh Jum.
