“Great 3 Star Hotel...Perfect Location”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

My Girlfriend and I stayed here for 10 nights in April 2014 and were not disappointed.
The Hotel is an excellent base to explore Thailand and its surrounding islands.
We were on the 5th Floor with great sea views and views of the sun going down.
The Hotel has one of the best pools in Ao Nang with an excellent swim up pool bar or simply lie back and let Noy serve you..
The staff are very friendly and always full of smiles...the rooms are spacious, clean with huge bathrooms and big balconies.
The general feel of the hotel is very relaxed we met people of all ages who are all very friendly and the atmosphere around the pool is great and the same at breakfast time.
I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a nice, friendly base to explore Krabi at a reasonable price and please don't moan about the Wi-Fi coverage you are supposed to be on holiday...relax and explore wonderful Thailand

Room Tip: Ask for 5th floor rooms for best views of the sea and sun going down.

We stayed here about 3 years ago and it was a very nice stay but when we stayed here January this year it is still a great location and good value but is in need of a refurb. The sun beds are tired and flat, pool area just needs a general tidy up along with the rooms. Breakfast is always cold and not good choice. For its money it is ok but I wouldn't stay here again now unless it had been done up , freshened up. A shame really as great location and friendly staff.

We are living in 21st century! Most hotels and restaurants provide free WIFI to their guest. Unfortunately, this hotel only has free WIFI in their lobby?!?!?! And guess what happen to me while accessing WIFI on my iPhone in their lobby? I got bitten by mosquitos!!! This is my worst experience, I will NEVER return to this hotel!!!

We have just returned home after an amazing 14 night, 3-centre Thailand trip. The final stay was at the Krabi La Playa for 5 nights (after 5 nights in the Hilton, Phuket). Upon arrival at 13:30 we were greeted with a welcome drink and taken to our room, 312. A cute little room, traditional Thai memorabilia on the walls and towels made into Elephants! The balcony looked out onto the pool area. A lovely, clean room with safety deposit box, free water, flip flops for the pool, umberella's and even a beach bag with beach towels. They seem to have considered everything! The only thing which let the room down was the shower - having said that, the water was nice and hot. The maid's cleaned the room every day too and changed our towels.

The grounds are pretty, and the pool has a lovely bar which you can swim up to for a drink. If you don't want to get up, you can lounge by the pool and there is pool service at your lounger for food and drinks. There's a small gym onsite looking out onto another free standing little bar with tables and chairs on the grass with parasol's. A peaceful place to relax.

We were there on a B&B basis. There's plenty of choice for breakfast, fresh omelettes made with your choice of ingredients.

You can get wifi in reception for free. Make sure you wear plenty of mosquito spray though as it's an open air reception and lots of bugs about. There are nice sofa's to lounge on and you can get lots of information about the local area and trips from the onsite trip advisor who also managed to get us a discount on every trip.

Ao Nang is a great area. You can walk all the way to the end of the beach from the hotel in just 30 minutes, with shop stops on route. Shops are mostly beachwear, restaurants, jewellery, massage shops and minimarts. There are some back street bars for anyone wanting live music/ a cabaret show and a bit more 'noise' too.

I'd recommend a walk all the way to the end of Ao Nang beach as the first 3/4 is taken up by longboats so you can't swim there. The very end of the beach has an area for swimming with some shaded beach/ massage bars...you can sit under the shade of the trees, have a beer, get a massage - we spent a couple of evenings here at sunset which was perfect!

If you like live music, there's a guy called Ben Jamaal who sings and plays guitar 7 nights a week and has done so for the last 5 years at a nice bar called ECHO. It's not on the main beach strip but on the walk down from the hotel. You can get beers/ cocktails/ snacks here and the atmosphere is really friendly. Ben is amazing too!

We did a couple of nice trips from Ao Nang too. We did a late afternoon trip around some of the local islands on a longboat from Ao Nang beach. We went to chicken island, tup island and 2 others which were stunning! Snorkelling was amazing and the team on the boat helped us to fine Nemo! We then stopped on another island for a lovely Thai buffet and watched the sunset. Afterwards the boat crew did a fire show on the beach! No end to their talents! On the way back, we stopped by one of the small rock islands and snorkelled in the dark watching all of the beautiful plankton light up around us! Such an awesome experience.

We also took a 1/2 day trip to the Emerald Pool, fresh water spring and Elephant trekking. A great experience and definately worth the visit. Each activity is at a different location but we had about 1 hour at each. The Elephant Trek was most definitely a highlight, idyllic surroundings for the elephants to roam and we also got to feed them banana's for 50 bhat a basket. Beautiful creatures!

A great end to an amazing trip...we'd definitely return to Krabi La Playa hotel!

(Oh and don't miss out on the fab street food just on the main road by the hotel! The tasty pancakes are a must!)

Room Tip: Choose a room as high up as possible for views of the surrounding area. We were 3rd floor, lovely po...

Stayed in this hotel from 10 April 14 to 12 April 14.

Love this hotel as its full of greenery with plants everywhere. Its a very quiet and peaceful place. The rooms are huge and the toilets too!! Just that it may get slippery when the floor is wet so make sure you have a few floor mats.

There are 3 swimming pools you can swim into and can also visit the spa for an hour aromatherapy massage which only costs 450Baht.

The breakfast was awesome.

For halal food, you can just walk out of the hotel from the back exit and you can find a street vendor selling halal food. Either that, u can also walk out of the hotel near to the tourists area to get more choices.

As the area is quite a distance from the shopping place, its recommended that you rent an auto motorbike to move around. That only cost 200baht for one full day. Its more convenient that way..

Wifi is available everywhere in the lobby, swimming pool and restaurant so you don't really need to buy any indoor room wifi..

We arrived at the hotel at 10 am, because check in time is 2 pm we have to wait. We came back at 3 pm but our room was not ready yet, we had to wait for about 45 minutes. The room was good, clean, and comfortable but the bed was superhard. Superior room didnt have a bathtub, only shower. The hotel did not provide toothbrush and toothpaste. Dont buy from PK minimart near the hotel, the price at PK minimart is very expensive

Room Tip: Choose top floor that have nice view

La Playa in Ao Nang beach is a great hotel. From our Room 418 it was 10 min walk to centre of Ao Nang passing nice bars and restaurants and shops. It is situated in a quite side street but close enough to town. It is an ideal spot between Ao Nang beach and Noppratrat beach which is quieter. Our room was top floor so we had a great view and benefited from a nice breeze. The room was large and a nice bathroom. Pool area was good with lots of sunbeds always available.
There is a back entrance to the hotel which will get you to Noppratrat beach in 5 mins. Breakfast was served in the restaurant beside the pool and was very good. Good range of food.
Just 2 moans : No wi fi in room but in reception also rooms were locked by keys not cards so every time we went out we had to leave our key in. But this is just minor. Altogether a great hotel.
There is a bar on the way into Ao Nang on right hand side of the road called Moo2 great live music every night, Bob Marley The Eagles etc. Great atmosphere at night.
There is also a lovely restaurant on the left hand side into Ao Nang called Blue Mango good food, reasonably priced.

Room Tip: 418 is top floor corner good views. There are ground floor swim up rooms which are handy for pool a...
