We had been booked into this concentration camp by our agent.. We arrived after a long flight only to be told the hotel was full (a lie as half was closed down) and we would have to wait for our room for a few hours, when we were finally shown the cell, sorry room our hearts sank.. The bedding was torn and badly stained, the room was smelling bad, the shower enclosure filthy no door handles, damaged telephone, worn furniture not like any hotel we have ever stayed in before in Thailand or anywhere else come to think of it.. The staff just gave vacant looks when you ask anything.. Also worth noting that the pool area is a danger to anyone with children, a long drop into about 4inches of water with no fencing or warnings given.. not that kids would read them anyway!! All this right next to the main pool area and looks like another pool but its an overflow pool!! Large hotel with what we counted were around 25 sunbeds for all to share, all filthy damaged and uninviting.. safety deposit boxes were nasty bedside cabinets with a cupboard lock, could have been opened with a hairbrush for sure.. We left the hotel after just a few hours only to be asked why by the duty manageress.. WHY??? Are you kidding... Have visited Thailand many times over the years this is not the standard for even a 3 star let alone 4 star plus!!! No way!! Save your money.. ask for or book somewhere else please... This hotel gives Thailand a bad name..

Appalled at the service of this hotel.

We booked 3 nights, ended up only staying 1 and leaving. In total we only stayed 12 hours at this hotel because we just couldn't stand it.

To kick things off we arrived at 10:30pm at night, were greeted at reception and shown to our rooms.

First we noticed that there was a strange moldy smell in the room. When we climbed into bed about 11:30pm at night we realised it was the sheets and the bed itself. It had a really dusty / moldy smell to it, like it was old and the sheets had been on the bed for a long time. One of the sheets had a hole in it and there was also another persons hair in the actual sheets.

So we called reception and asked if they could send us a change of sheets. The person at reception said he would check and call me back in 2 minutes. I waited 10 minutes and still no call from reception, so I called them for a 2nd time only to be told that house cleaning was gone for the night and he was the only person manning the hotel. He then said "can't you just sleep on the bed and we will change the sheets tomorrow"?, I said "No way I am sleeping in moldy sheets that have another persons hair in it", he said he would check with this 'friend' and call me back in 20 minutes. So......45 minutes passes and still no call from reception, so I call the guy back again and he said he can't help - I asked him why he never called me back and he didn't respond. Eventually he agreed he would try to move us to another room and to expect someone to arrive at our room to help us move within 5 minutes, so 15 minutes later a workman arrives - he must have been the hotel handyman....he was carrying new sheets which smelled better, that he helped us put on the bed.

I also showed him the insects hanging from the ceiling in the shower and he got on a chair and wiped them off with some toilet paper.

So we eventually got to sleep after all that in the early hours of the morning.

The next morning we went for breakfast and once again were not impressed - the fruit had flies and ants all over it, how could they expect people to eat that?

We also noticed 2x old plasters on the floor in the room that has the internet - the floor itself was dirty too (Gross).

So we made a decision to leave that day and find another hotel.

We had pre-paid for 3 nights through a TAT office, the hotel would not refund any of our money and just advised us to follow it up with the TAT office. We felt like they didn't even care that we couldn't get our money back, at least they could have helped us follow up on our behalf. The manager helping us just left us sitting at reception while she went and spoke to other guests - so in the end we just left our key on the reception desk, grabbed our own bags and left.

We walked down the road with our bags and came across another hotel for 900 Baht cheaper!

I would never ever stay at this hotel again and I would never recommend it to anyone.

I rate this hotel a 3 star because it was worn-out after all the use over the years. The complex is huge which makes it a little tiresome to walk back and forth from your room to the main lobby area. Staff didn't speak English very well but we got by with the reception personnel.

Location was okay, it was directly across from the Ao Nang beach but had to take a 10 min tuk-tuk ride into town every night.

So to start this, we pulled up to an amazing temple like group of buildings and felt like royalty after previously dropping other guests off at little dumpy looking places. We walked into the more than amazing lobby and were quickly greeted by a front desk staff who had us take a seat and have a complimentary drink while we checked in.

After checking in they took us on a very long walk to our room which was through the multiple pools area and basically as far from reception as you can get. Our room was large and clean with an amazing patio overlooking the pool, but this is where the good parts of the hotel ended.

The Room:

Our bed, like most beds in Thailand it seems, was basically one small step better than sleeping on solid rock. My hips were bruised from sleeping on my sides it was that bad.

The bathroom had a crappy stand-up shower which didn't drain and the taps were mostly clogged shooting water everywhere but where you were.

The TV only had 1 English channel which was the Al Jazeera news. I didn't watch much TV other than before falling asleep, but the lack of choice was annoying.

The Amenities and Service:

After settling into our room we made our way to the pool area only to find it was mostly empty and thought that was strange. After being there for a short time we found out why.

The main pool was dirty, it didn't appear to have been cleaned in some time and looked mostly like an oil spill went through. The pool bar was staffed by a woman who made more of an effort ignoring you than helping you.

We decided to get a snack at the pool restaurant and after getting into the tiny 6 table place we grabbed our seats. Unfortunately these tables were not cleaned and we had to clean our own table by moving the plates to another table and using a moist towelette my wife had on her to wipe it down. After 15 minutes no one came so we went to the pool bar and got the bartender to get us some menu's.

A few minutes later some guy comes out and literally throws the menu at us and walks away. He comes back 10 minutes later and my wife ordered a beer, I ordered a coke, and we both ordered club sandwiches. The prices were at least triple compared to any other fancy place we had been to in Thailand.

The food came out and my coke was nice and toasty warm. The beer was fortunately cold. The club houses were actually delicious. I was waiting for him to come back so I could ask for ice, but he never. I went to the pool bar but the girl disappeared. So I shared my wifes beer, we finished eating and literally never seen this guy for another 20 minutes. He hands us the bill and there is an 18% gratuity added on.

This was the most expensive meal we had in Thailand by nearly double and we frequented high end restaurants. The tip was ridiculous, the service was horrible, and it was the last we spent at the hotel.

What Would I Change:

1. Softer beds.
2. Replace bathroom hardware, it is past its life.
3. Get a new bartender who is entertaining.
4. Clean the pool.
5. Drop the prices down to the same as surrounding hotels.
6. Push the pool parties.
7. Stop the staff making you feel uncomfortable as they all stare and smile at you every time you walk by.

I would not stay here again. Too many other nice options in better locations that cost a hell of a lot less.

We paid for a superior room and was located in a building beside the hotel and were told that the rooms in the same building as the hotel was luxurus rooms that Woolf cost 2000bt more. Well the hotel is big and the pool is also big, but not so clean. It feels really worn, sun umbrella is broken and goes away with the wind. We have a mixats in the bathroom, they say that he eat bugs so I suppose its ok. The beds are terrible - We manage to get an extra madrass after explaining. My boyfriend has backpain. Breakfast is good, Nice for a three star hotel - not more than that.

Don't be fooled by the hype. Maybe if you end up in one of the new rooms, it could be better...but we were shoved into an old corner room where they were painting. The room reeked of mold and was clearly not one of their nicest rooms. The hotel is apparently two different hotels-the old one is adjoining and called Success Resort (which is where they put us) and the new one which is the Ayodhya Suites. You may pay the price for the Ayodhya but be placed into the Success Resort which is run-down and moldy and not as well maintained as the Ayodhya. We complained eventually and they switched us to yet another room in the old part of the hotel. After a sleepless night of coughing and wheezing due to the mold, we requested a refund and attempted to check out of the hotel. The manager at this point decided to offer us a room in the main Ayodhya hotel (which we declined). The refund was never processed despite waiting almost an hour for them to do it and they were unable to do the simple credit card refund. All in all, it looks very nice from the outside, but be sure that they put you in one of the nice rooms in the main hotel. I think you can get a better hotel for a better price elsewhere in Ao Nang.

We booked a two superior rooms and we ended up in an old part of the hotel. It looks as the hotel has been added with newer wings and that they use the old "hotel" for superior room bookings. These rooms are way from 4 star hotel standards. The rooms are shabby, the safety deposit boxes are old wooden cases that can be opened with a kick. The old lobby is hidden behind the hotel and the old signed (with the old name) is still printed at some places. We visited the deluxe rooms (in the new hotel) and they look good. Prices at the hotel are high and you get the feeling that they want to suck the money out from you. Pool area is not up to standards even though the photos taken looks as if its a great area to stay at.
