“Would not stay here”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

We stayed here one night due to overbooking at the hotel we had booked, if it wasn’t the only place with availability the night before New Years Eve, I would never have stayed there.

The hotel is large but looks tired and could do with a revamp. The rooms were horrible. I didn’t use the wardrobe but it opens up into the bathroom so I would assume all your clothes would get damp after showering. The curtains were falling down and didn’t fully close. The entry door didn’t feel secure. The TV didn’t work. The shutters from the bathroom to the bedroom wouldn’t fully shut so there was no privacy in the bathroom. The breakfast was just about edible. We didn’t use the pool but what we saw of it was not appealing, it looked dirty and we didn’t see anyone using it.

The hotel isn’t in a great location. It’s at the far end of Ao Nang and only has a few bars and restaurants close by. We didn’t have a problem with any mosquitos in the room like some of the reviews but that end of Ao Nang must have a problem as we were given mosquito spray in the restaurant that we ate in!

I would not recommend this hotel.

I stayed here for a night. When I was searching online, i got attracted with its architecture which became the greatest factor why i decided to book here. While the room is comfortable and the staff are accommodating, the place is boring. The hotel is not well maintained. What bothers me are the mosquito bites i got from staying outside my room and while having breakfast. When it gets dark, the whole hotel is not well lighted, or should i say its too dark outside. You will not be able to appreciate the landscape and scenery at night and will even get scared when you look from your room. Breakfast is just to say they offer breakfast but i would rather sleep than eat. Never again.

This place looked like a castle when we pulled in.. it was massive.
Our room was huge but it was a long walk to get around to our room.
We had the swim up pool area but the water was BROWN and dirty.. gross!
The other pool area looked clear enough but I wasn't risking it.
This place is not truthfully advertised.
The girl at reception was sooooooooo damn slow!
We stayed here 1 night then continued on our way.
After being in Bangkok and Chiang Mai before this, I really hated Ao Nang/Krabi area.
The views of the water are gorgeous and lots of shopping/eateries on the strip but it didn't strike my fancy.

Stayed one night in January and couldn't leave quickly enough the next day. I counted over 40 bites on the left hand side of my body - either bed bugs or fleas and still have the scars 3 weeks later. The place is infested with mosquitoes. Such a shame as the hotel looks spectacular from the outside and the staff working there were really friendly. Very little edible at breakfast to speak of. Very poor management. Save your money and go elsewhere.

We reluctantly stayed here for 5 nights as a last minute resort because The Cliff Ao Nang overbooked themselves and left my family stranded on the day we arrived. There were 5 of us and we stayed in a Deluxe Pool Access Room and a Family Room.

At this hotel, their rooms are big and have the potential of a 4 star hotel, but its finishings and maintenance are that of a 2 star hotel. The mattresses are very hard and they do not provide toothbrushes nor any soap dish. Their rainshower is spoilt and water leaks out of it at strange angles, depriving us of a good proper shower. Balcony chairs were dirty, none of us dared to sit on it, table was dirty too.

The corridors are dark and creepy, looking like something out of a horror film at night. Some areas along the corridor weren't lit and we had to bring a torch out with us if we knew we were coming back at night.

The elevator never works, they tell you its because of power-saving but I've never seen it working whether morning, afternoon or night in my 5 days there. So if you're travelling with the elderly or with heavy luggages, good luck to you.

Pool water is yellow greenish and resembles a swamp. You can actually see the muck floating around in there. The pool area is big, yes. But that doesn't matter when the pool is filthy.

The lobby area where the free public wifi can be accessed is infested with mosquitoes. Although I dutifully sprayed mosquito repellent on myself, the mozzies could still got me on covered areas I neglected to spray, like my stomach area. A quick walk through the lobby without any repellent applied can earn you 5 bites.

Breakfast serves you the bare minimal. The only thing I enjoyed was toasted bread with butter and soya bean milk. Breakfast is up till 10am and most hotels would allow a buffer timing of up till 1030am to finish your meal. But this hotel switches off all lights and fans promptly at 10am, making you feel like you're eating in an unlit dungeon with really bad food.

Some reception staff on duty cannot speak English and it becomes a very painful process to communicate your needs or questions across.

There are also many China tour groups who stay here, possibly because the owner is Chinese. These people from the China tour groups woke us up one morning with their screaming and shouting from the corridor. Another morning one of them kept knocking on our door till we woke up and opened it. Upon realising they probably got the wrong room, the person just walked away without any apology.

After our 3rd night, my mum decided she had enough and wanted to forfeit our remaining 2 nights at Ayodhaya to stay somewhere else. Unfortunately we had to stay put because everywhere else was fully booked in Ao Nang. My mum cried because she felt like this was the most horrible holiday she had.

If it weren't for The Cliff Ao Nang who messed up the booking and payment we made to them 1 month in advance, we wouldn't have been made to go through this painful stay at Ayodhaya.

Photos are outdated and the entire hotel is worn down. Breakfast was completely overpopulated despite the limited choice of food and the really bad quality.
We went directly from breakfast to the pool at 9 AM and it took 10 mins to get 3 pool towels for 4 people. Well the queue for the towels must have been long You'd think..... No! We were the only ones there! The gigantic pool area was like a ghost town - maybe because of the water temperature which was freezing?
One bedroom in our family-suite had a malfunctioning A/C and we didn't have hot water at all. Reception told us it would be fixed when we returned from the beach but it wasn't. Electrician tried to fix the A/C again when we returned after dinner. He failed and we had to insist to be moved to another room as it was getting late and the kids were getting tired and cranky.
The "new" room was in a remote area where the janitor had to turn on power and water before we could enter the room.
Definately the worst hotel experience in a month of traveling in Thailand

Room Tip: Rooms are spacious but outdated and worn down.

This hotel was a disaster. Staff were complacent, the breakfast was incredibly poor and there were no saving graces. Most importantly, my i-phone was stolen from a small and discreet pocket in a case. We went away to the rainforest for a few days and told the hotel so they didn't think there was a problem. We had a lot of luggage - 2 weeks packing for a family of 4 and two children's Christmas presents. On our return our room had obviously been searched and the i-phone taken. Despite urgent and firm requests to speak to the manager, the receptionist was as good as useless, completely comprehending our point but insisting he was unavailable. We tried tracking the phone but it was switched off. The police had no interest. On our return it was switched back on and tracked to Krabi. Avoid at all costs.
