Our family of 10 had a great stay in this very quiet, peaceful resort. For the amount that we've paid, it's a value for money stay. With heaven's blessing, we had 3 full days of great sunshine in this monsoon period (so call low season) !

Location :-
While enjoying the peacefulness, we're only a few minutes walk away from all the amenities. 7Elevens, McDonalds, Subway, Swensens, Travel agents (for day excursions), small eateries are all within walking distance.

Beach :-
Take the short cut from the back of the resort (near the 2 stories Deluxe / Superior cottages), using the Beach Assess gate. Nothing to shout about regarding this beach, as the water is not clear & sand is not fine as compared to the nearby islands. Massage huts litter along this very ordinary beach. Can give it a miss if time is not on your side.

Accommodation :-
The Superior cottages are at the ground floor while the Deluxe ones are at the 2nd level. Both cottages are spacious & roomy. Good space with outdoor shower (cold water). Great for a washout after an outing before going into the bathtub or Jacuzzi (Deluxe cottages only).

Breakfast :-
At the 2nd floor restaurant. Long flight of steps to take, especially for the elderly. Not very wide spread but sufficient. Good view over the swimming pool, pond, cottages & the huge limestone 'cliff' as it's background.

Lagoon Restaurant :-
Simply eat somewhere else. Personally dislike the food & it's costly (taxes chargeable). not worth trying.

Swimming Pools :-
3 pools altogether, which are clean & well maintained.

MAYA SPA :-
Maya Spa's price is competitive as compared to many other hotel's SPA. eg. 450 Baht for one hour of traditional massage by professional therapist, good ambiance and nicely decorated room (as compared to 200 baht per hour at one of those road side / beach side huts run by most likely unprofessional staffs).

Service :-
Good in general. Staffs managing the Reception were excellent.

Special Remarks :-
1) Try the beef noodle stall just outside the resort on you right. 40 baht for a yummy bowl, with complimentary iced water served.
2) Free complimentary coffee, cookies provided every 4-5pm at the resort's lobby.

W had arrived early before check in but only waited10mins for room as I was sick. The staff wre very helpful. We had a bungalow which looked over the lagoon. It was a huge room with King bed, spa bath and outdoor shower. The bed & spa had rose petals all over - very romantic touch. There was a balcony to lie out on but when it rained you had to come inside as the roof didnt cover the balcony. The buffet brekky started off good - weekend arrival- but after that I had to keep asking for more food!!! But we still managed to enjoy what we had. The resort was approx 3mins from the beach and main st. Many massages places for approx AUS$7 on beach. The sand wasnt as good as other Thailand beaches but still very enjoyable. Great restaurants on the beach as well. Also VERY CHEAP food, wine & beer! The boat trips to Ilsands worth taking as well.

Room Tip: Ask for bungalow

Hotel looks good from the pictures online but is actually a little shabby & run down. New Years Eve Gala Dinner is compulsory but it was so dire we actually celebrated the New Year on the beach. The entertainment was terrible & wine was really expensive.
Avoid at all costs

Finished off our 3 nights in Thailand with this perfect stay in Ao Nang.

Have to say as soon as we pulled into the hotel we knew we were going to enjoy our time here. Grounds looked amazing and with the overshadowing rocks it looked perfect! The hotel couldnt do enough for us celebrating our 2nd Anniversary, we even had daily flower arrangements which were by far the best we had in Thailand!

We checked into our Private Cottage quite early and we were both so chuffed we decided on the upgrade. The rooms are absolutely stunning, we had a room facing the rock and it was the best!!! Walked out of our room and had 'private pool' literally steps away! I say private as we never seen anybody around the entire time we were there!! View out of the room was perfect, Jacuzzi bath was soooo good and the shower outside served its purpose... We had an outside shower in Maldives for our honeymoon, this wasnt up to that standard but then perhaps thats spoiled us forever on outside showers!

We had a problem with Mosquitos the first day we arrived; we lit our candles (mossie ones we always take) and must have killed about 15 before I went to reception and informed them. In all fairness we had somebody in our room within 10 minutes spraying and never seen another mosquito during our stay!

Think the location of the hotel was perfect. On the main road but far enough to escape the noise at night! Found Ao Nang a wonderful place, plenty of shops, lovely restaurants and good beach. We walked to the bars in the night and had a great blast in the Longtail bar - about 25 mins walk. Had a massage on the beach which was lovely, and took a longtail to Railay one morning too for 200Bht return - worth the experience! Railay was perfect!!! We also booked a trip through the hotel (cheapest around) for Phi Phi islands. Wasnt the best trip due to overcrowding (and the fact that we had previously gone on a trip with Phuket Sail Tours in our stay in Kata the previous week which was incredible!!!) but it did the job in seeing these wonderful islands.

Was sorry to leave Ao Nang, and especially Peace Laguna. Would definately return to both again if possible! Took the local bus back to the airport, this runs about 10 minutes walk from hotel. Cost something silly like 100 Bht and took about an hour but again it did what it said on the tin!

Hotel was wonderful though. Breakfast balcony was lovely even if the food sometimes was a little bland. View more than made up for it. Would have liked a 'Maldivian style' outside shower but the Jacuzzi bath a welcome alternative. Mosquitos could have been a problem but quickly resolved by hotel (stagnant pond will always attract insects and not a fault of the hotel).

Thanks Peace Laguna for our perfect end to our Thailand adventure
