“Modern and close to Ao Nang shops”
Reviewed 12 April 2011

The Buri Tara resort is very clean and looks really trendy and flash however is quite small. It's not a resort as such, just a small hotel. A few things about my stay were annoying. To start with, the room type I booked was not available so the hotel 'upgraded' me to a better room, one with pool access from the balcony of the room. However as it is a small hotel, this meant that there is very little privacy for such rooms (ie when the curtains are not drawn, almost everyone sitting around the pool can look into your room). I chose to hotel to stay with a group of friends. We all booked our own rooms. The hotel 'upgraded' one of the couples in the group to another hotel altogether (their 'sister' resort)! Staff are helpful enough however grasp of English is not so good and they are not as professional (front staff napping at the reception desk, another cutting their fingernails, chatting among themselves while you wait for their attention). The breakfast buffet is dismal. However, besides these little gripes, it is good enough if you want a base for the night to rest. It's just not the kind of place to hang all day, if you want that kind of holiday.

Well, the room is cosy and clean. The thing which is an eye opener for me is the electric cable as it's really messy in Krabi. My room was situated near to the electric cable. Thus, it is quite terrifying and scary as I can even hear the movement of the electric. The breakfast was ok only. Don't expected too much since it's a budget hotel. The service provided by this hotel was quite impressive as it was raining whole day. The hotel provided some information for us to browse where we should go. Additionally, arrange few motorbikes for my group to hang around in the town and other tourist spot. The distance between this hotel and Ao Nang Beach is 30 minutes walk and 10 minutes by motorbike.

Nice welcome, clean room. Unfortunately our bath was leaking and everything got wet. We requested it to be repaired, but it didnt seem they tried to fix something even though they sid they did. Breakfast was nice musli and fresh food and some specialty cooked every day.
Some water decorations in the lobby were super-dirty with plants growing in them which produced the most terrible smell. At the same time rooms were spacious and clean.

The hotel is located at the far end of the beach. Will need to walk about 10-15 minutes to reach the beach from the hotel. The room is clean and well furnished. I got the room beside the pool and therefore, can just get into the pool from my balcony. The pool is pretty small but i believe is good enough.

One drawback was that the check out time is 11am. I refer to the booklet provided in my room but the time indicated for checking out is 12pm, but was told to check out at 11am. When i was checking out, they brought a broken glass and said that we are responsible for the breakage and wanted us to pay for it. We were angry and told them that we dd not broke it and after some discussion, they decicded that we need not pay for it. I am puzzled and my wife was saying that they may be taking their chances.

Breakfast is not fantastic. Other meals in the hotel is ok, price is abit on the high side.

We spent there just one night, we wished we could have stayed more!
Ao Nang is a good place to visit the nearby islands by long-tai!
The staff of the Hotel is very kind and funny. The rooms are modern and huge , the toilet has 2 basins, a shower and a bath! No need to fight with your partner in the morning!
The breakfast is big and the location is also good. Just 15 mins walk from downtown!

I came here in Dec 2010 with my hubby and my 3 year old toddler. And i aint coming here no more. Period.

Here's why:
1. Its a distance to walk/ push the pram to the main shopping area. Dunno why the rest claimed it's near, but it aint. So when it rains, it's hell.

2. The hotel dont provide the basic toiletries like toothbrush + toothpaste! Plus the hotel water smells really weird.

3. The hotel staffs aint gonna give u good service if u are an asian. Period. We were there waiting at the lobby and they attended to us with a sour face. We dont mind. We figured they must have had a bad day.. but then came a westerner, and they became all enthusiastic and "service with a smile" and we were, " What was that all about?"

4. Mosquitoes!!!

5. Their american breakfast is more of bread + jam. Now how american is that?

6. Swimming pool seem to be cleaned once a year!

7. Bed is as hard as a rock

So overall. save your money and get another hotel!
