A visit by my partner and mum-in-law and self, I have been passed several times but the restaurant has always looked very packed (surely a good sign) but we managed to book for the Bank Holiday Monday. At first glance of the menu we were all unsure of what to order as it was quite varied and quite frankly there were quite a few items even on the starter that we could have picked from, but only allowed one. Mum had squid and partner had sticky chicken skewers n Japanese salad which they both loved. For main I had the Fishcakes which were very nice, partner had lamb shoulder Dhansk which he rated as lovely, full of flavour without being over powered with spice/heat and mum had the salmon fillet on a bed of rice/noodles which had absolutely no complaints except slightly to much oil. Dessert was followed shortly and mum was very impressed with the alfraggo (?) ice cream, coffee with a choice of liqueur which really bowled her over and with a lady that lunches a lot is an accomplishment, all in all a restaurant definitely worth another visit. Thankyou.

The Old Crown continues to produce superb meals belying its pub venue. The menu is a pleasant variation on the normal "pub grub". Some pub favourites remain, but for those of us that like a more Mediterranian flavour, the Old Crown does it well. The courses are also very manageable in size allowing a three course attack to be accomplished. Yes, its a venue worth visiting and for the area it is a welcome gem.

Wonderful meal from the set menu. Only thing needed was fresh veg with the mushroom lasagne. Beautiful food though.

This is a great, friendly pub, with an fantastic menu. Last night, they hosted a Pie & Pint night.
I had the Steak and Kidney pudding, which was delicious, soft, fluffy suet pastry, and meltingly tender steak inside. Side order of cauliflower cheese was the nicest I've ever tasted.
Good beer too,

Friendly, warm and welcoming staff. I booked a very early table, and the pub filled rapidly with hungry, happy diners. Booking strongly recommended

Last night three of us enjoyed a selection of home made pies at another theme night at The Old Crown. The addition of a steak and kidney pudding to the selection was excellent with, chicken ham hock and leek, lamb, fish pie and a veggie cheddar and potato as before. The ones we had were all really good quality and again the pub was full. The staff were friendly as ever and an excellent Winter Warmer guest ale washed it down just perfectly. We were all a bit full for pudding so we'll have two next time we visit :0) Keep it up Ian and Bex!
