this is where you will find every tacky t shirt, useless trinket, cow skull and ugly blanket you have ever wanted. Bargain away. At the north end, you will find cheaper hotels and bars. The further south you travel, however, things move up the scale and you will find some good silver shops, really nice places to eat and wine shops. There are also a couple of nice hotels. Everything is walking distance. Ensenada is not a big place.

On a recent cruise we ventured over here for some shopping. After having chosen la bufadora on our last trip, we wanted something a little different. We were pleasantly surprised by the selection and friendliness of the shop owners. There were some great accessory stores, ladies clothing boutiques, and Jewelry stores in addition to the normal Mexican goods. It felt very safe and I highly recommend a short shuttle ride here if you don't feel up to a 45 minute bus ride each way to la bufadora.

It is busy street of endless shops selling everything you don't need, such as leather sandals, purses, Mexican ponchos, souvenir magnets, wrestling costumes, etc.
You CAN walk from cruise ship terminal and it is not that far, or there is a shuttle costing US$3.00/return, taking you from cruise ship terminal to/from a plaza, one block from the beginning of Avenida Lopez Mateos.
There are plenty of toilets which charge a fee.

We came here twice this year on cruises, one of which was a back to back with Ensenada as a port. It is a quick 20 minute walk from the port, heading into town. Yes, it is touristy, but is safe and is dotted with not only souvenir shops but also great local restaurants off the main street. The famous Husson, where Margaritas were born, is located just off Avenida Lopez Mateos as well as Papas and Beer, where many tourists ends up. Try La Compadre! Bruno is the owner and is a graduate from Napa Valley Cooking School in California. He makes great seafood plates while his mom runs the other side of the restaurant where she and her staff cooks up all the rest--carne asada, chicken, pork etc.. GREAT food! Cheap prices!

Prices are better at the marketplace at La Bufadora if you are looking for bargains. However, as everyone knows, one needs to negotiate for your goods.

If you like to walk a lot - here's your place and well worth it. Many small and medium size shops with everything one might like to take home as a souvenir. Leather goods, dresses, shoes, you name it and you'll probably find it. All the typical stuff one expects on a Mexican shopping excursion.
