“Showcase of Affluence in the 1930s”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2014

It was originally built as a gambling casino & luxury hotel in the 1930s. According to our guide it was the biggest Casino in the world. It was shut down when Mexico banned gambling but was restored through the combined efforts of the state government and the private sector. Today it is mostly used for cultural events and exhibitions. Try to visit this place when you are in Ensenada.

“Beautiful Architecture, great margaritas!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2014

Lovely, historical location with classic architecture, well kept and gorgeous! Our tour guide gave us the historical background on some of the lovely rooms that are currently utilized for special events. We were shown photos of the lovely lady that the margarita was named for and given FREE samples! They also produce wine and served beer. The wrought iron and art installations are authentic and the story behind why some of the art remains is a good one. If you get the opportunity to visit Ensenada you will be impressed with this location.

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2014

We thoroughly enjoyed the walking through the grounds as well as inside. Best to go on your own and enjoy at your leisure. Hurrying through on a tour skips over so many of the interesting features.

“Why was it so empty?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2014

We just happened to walk by after our visit to town back to the cruise ship. This white building caught our attention and we walked into this empty museum. A very nice lady met us in the office/store area. We paid our $2 pp fees for the museum and enjoyed a very nice visit of this informative museum. There were just the three of us the whole time we were there and this place is right across from the entrance to the cruise port. I asked the lady if they have done any publicity at the port she said they were working on it. After the museum, we walked outside to the back of the building to the casino/cultural center/court yard where there were a little more people. Vendors were selling your normal souvenirs in the courtyard. I believe there is a restaurant there also. We were told that tours do come by the courtyard area but not to the museum. Check out the old casino which is empty now, but the woodwork on the ceilings are beautiful! We also walked around the garden area which was very nice. It was a very pleasant visit and I do recommend visiting the museum if you are in Ensenada.

“L. A. Cetto Winery, Ensenada, Mexico”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 February 2014

We took a ships tour to visit two vineyards one of which is listed here. We were impressed with the amount of wine produced by these wineries. The quality of the wine is comparable to Napa Valley wines. After the tour we were both given a complimentary bottle of wine to take home. Although the area is not spectacular in scenic charm, it has it's own uniqueness.
