Don't bother. Probably the worst golfing trip ever. The golf course was understaff and unprofessional. Not accomodating and extremely short with explanations. There were 14 of us and they tried to make us play three 4 some and 2 some. When asked why, they replied because that is the rules. Only after polite persuasion, did they allow us to play two foursome and two threesome. The food was overpriced and not tasty at all.

Hated the hotel we booked (New Port Beach Hotel), so left there and searched for another place to spend the night. Found Bajamar and paid only $15 more than our original hotel...and the Bajamar was ten times better! The beds are pretty hard and my husband and I ended up with two doubles due to the short notice. If you like golfing every day then this place would be the best to stay in the area. If you're not a golfer there isn't too much to do at the resort besides lounging by the pool, playing tennis (bring your own balls) and drinking at the bar. The food was alright, but the wait-staff act like they don't understand barely any english. La Salina is a little town a mile or two down the road and there is a public beach which is a lot of fun. After I take a few more golf lessons, I would consider going back to this resort. Very clean sheets and bathroom with a few brownish stains on the cloth headboards. More T.V. channels than usual in Mexico. Cute and quaint...Mexican dancers in the morning at breakfast. Make sure you ask for the Breakfast menu because they have a buffet and are reluctant to offer breakfast service. Check out the photos. If you want a few more, let me know.

We have stayed at the Hacienda Bajamar three times in a year and a half. The beds are hard (we brought our own air mattress), the service is generally slow but the wait staff try as hard as they can. One must have patience. Relax and enjoy the wait. The golf course was in tough shape one visit (probably helped along by a recent brush fire that covered the entire area) but in July the greens were nice, fairways nice and anything else difficult. We have recently purchased property and will spend the next year building a residence in Bajamar. As people who golf any day that ends in y, the course is an excellent challenge. If Bajamar was in the USA it would be run differently and cost about $1000 a night to stay and play golf. Weekday play was okay for speed, weekend play very slow. We got 27 holes played as a twosome in 3 1/2 hours on friday whereas 18 in 5 1/2 on Sunday. We felt the staff did try very hard to service the clientel but one cannot expect resort or USA speed. Obviously we liked it enough to sink $1000000 into living there 4 months out of the year.

Hi
My husband has been to several golf tournaments at Bajamar over the past few years.
He has always stayed at the hotel when "with the guys".
Two years ago we decided to do a "couples" weekend, and upon checking on reserving more than one room, the hotel recommended that we rent a "house" instead.
For just barely more than the cost of two hotel rooms, we got a large 3 bedroom fully furnished house that would easily accommodate 8 people.
Last year we rented through a lady that lives in Bajamar and got a HUGE 4 bedroom house on the golf course very reasonably priced.
We just got home this week, after renting an amazing "guest house" (for two couples) on the bluffs overlooking Oceana for $836 for two nights - which included two days of 18 holes of golf for 2 players.
The only disadvantage of the houses though is that you do not have "daily" maid service.
If anyone is interested, I can give you our agents email address.

Recently back from a 6 night, 5 day stay at Bajamar. The place was pretty empty while we were there ... obviously not their prime season. The rooms were OK ... nothing too fancy, yet nothing horrible. Clean and your typical haciendas ... maid service was solid.

The golf courses themselves are quite well laid-out. The Oceano course is a must and like the other reviewer states, it's best to play that early rather than late due to the winds picking up. The Vista course might have the best layout of holes of the 3 nines. The Lagos course is the lesser of the 3, but still OK. Overall the fairways were a little patchy, but seemed OK to hit off of for the most part. The greens were often quite solid, but a few here and there had some patchwork done on them.

The bar/restaurant is about like stated above. The cart service on the course was practically non-existent ... take a 6 pack out with you. There wasn't really table service at the bar ... we often had to get our own. The restaurant food was fairly decent, but we grew a little tired of it after a while. Nothing special, but it was OK. Took a while to get your food, but not enough to anger a guy. It took us a while to check out as well and we were slightly over-charged ... it was not intentional, but still a little disturbing.

Overall, I think we were glad we went to Bajamar, but most likely won't return for a trip. I would come and play the course again though ... especially the Oceano/Vista combo. Looks like it's back to Arizona next year.

My golfing buddies and I spent a long weekend at BajaMar and in Tijuana. We golfed Bajamar two days straight. We loved all three 9s. A friend hit a 200 yd iron towards the ocean. It must have hit a rock because we thought someone was hitting into us when it dropped 20 yards behind us in the fairway. The hotel rooms were great. The service was mixed. There was no coffee prior to teeing off. It's a beautiful place to golf. Take a pass on Real Del Mar and spend an extra day golfing at Bajamar.

The other reviews made this place sound horrible... it's not. I spent 5 days there at a business conference. If your expectations are in line, the resort will meet your needs. It's a small, quaint and friendly place. It's not a luxurious American-style resort. The rooms are simple and clean; you feel like you're living in a traditional Mexican hacienda. The staff is helpful but hindered by a lack of technology. The modern-day amenities don't exist; if you want to access the internet, their one-computer business center is your only choice. But the restaurant is surprisingly good -- and having had 5 meals there -- all were good. The golf course is a mixed bag. The scenary, especially on the Oceano course is phenomenal. But the fairways need the be better maintained. In summary, it's quiet, it's quaint and it's friendly. If that's what you'll seek, you won't be disappointed.
